Abstract: A method and apparatus for connecting underwater conduits and more specifically, to a method and apparatus which is capable of performing the diverless connection of underwater flowlines and connection of these flowlines to underwater structures such as flowline bases, xmas trees, and templates. The connection of underwater conduits is facilitated by the use of a remotely operated vehicle and connection apparatus both being launchable and recoverable by a support vessel. The connection apparatus adapted to mount on at least one of the underwater conduits and the connection apparatus allowing for docking of the remotely controlled vehicle which then captures and draws a second conduit to form a continuous flowline. Then a connection apparatus is clamped upon the conduits. The apparatus then bolts the conduits together.

Abstract: An automatic screwing device, especially a hand screwdriver, consisting of a screwdriver and a collet to hold a secured protruding screw. The screwdriver is coupled to an actuating device so that it can rotate and move forward in relation to the collet. The actuating device has a first threaded element which can be driven rotationally and connected to the screwdriver and at least a second threaded element which is connected to the collet and interacts with the first threaded element. By providing two different thread pitches on the first and/or second element the screwdriver can advance at two different speeds while rotational speed of the first element remains the same.

Abstract: A screw holder mountable on a drive unit having a tubular passage with two axially-aligned sections, each provided with locking and centering elements, such that a screw inserted into such holder can initially only penetrate until the screw head is reliably held and suspended in the first section by the locking elements. The force of the centering and locking elements upon the screw head is overcome when the apparatus is placed on the screw location and an engagement tool coupled to a drive shaft is brought into driving engagement with the screw head, which driving movement forces the locking elements radially outward in response to the axial load upon the screw head and the passage of the screw head therethrough. After the screw head passes through the first section within the tubular passage, the screw shaft is engaged by the centering elements of the second section. The centering elements of the second section are then also forced back as the head of the screw passes therethrough.

Abstract: An improved screw and apparatus for placing screws in a wire mesh and/or bone plate during an operation. In the preferred embodiment, the screw is self-tapping and the apparatus includes color-coded screw cartridges that mount directly onto the tip of a screwdriver and are held in place until installed in the proper location as dictated by the surgeon. The cartridge fits into a magazine that can feed the screw cartridges automatically into a screw gun that drives the screw into the proper location in the bone and the wire mesh or plate, or alternatively can be used with a manual screwdriver.
Abstract: A drive tool which does not require any upper-body force from an operator to install a fastener. The drive tool includes a top portion which is engageable with a drive source and a lower portion which is engageable with a fastener. The drive tool includes springs which are configured to urge the lower portion and upper portion of the tool away from each other (i.e. relative movement) and provide that a generally axial force is applied to the fastener engaged with the lower portion of the tool. As a result, the operator does not need to apply any upper-body axial force to the drive tool to install the fastener. Preferably, the lower portion of the drive tool includes one or more foot pads on which an operator may stand, and the spring(s) become compressed when the operator stands on the foot pad(s).
Abstract: An automatic fastener feed system provides a nut, bolt or other fastener to a movable drive tool such that the fastener is automatically engaged with a drive member on the drive tool and subsequently driven onto a corresponding fastener on a work piece. The feed system includes a fastener acceptor which is adapted for connection to a parts feeder via a supply line. The parts feeder provides the fasteners to the fastener acceptor, which at least temporarily retains the fastener in a position for engagement with the drive member. As the drive member rotates and moves through the fastener acceptor toward a mating fastener on a work piece, the fastener within the fastener acceptor is automatically aligned and engaged with the mating fastener as the drive member is rotatably driven by the drive tool. Continued operation of the drive member causes the fastener acceptor to release the fastener, thereby allowing the fastener to be driven completely onto the mating fastener on the work piece.
Abstract: A belt feeding device for feeding a belt of a stapler includes a casing slidable and movable inward and outward of a housing and having a guide passage for receiving the belt. A rotary member is unidirectionally secured on in the casing with a shaft and includes a number of outer projections for engaging with and for feeding the belt step by step. The rotary member may be rotated relative to the casing step by step when the casing moves inward and outward of the housing. A spring member may be engaged with the rotary member for positioning the rotary member to said casing.
Abstract: A drive tool having a top portion which is engageable with a drive source and a lower portion engageable with a fastener. The drive tool includes an axial load assist mechanism configured to urge the lower portion and upper portion of the tool away from each other (i.e. relative movement) such that a generally axial force is applied to the fastener engaged with the lower portion of the tool. As a result, the amount of upper body axial force an operator must apply to the drive tool to install the fastener is reduced.
Abstract: The present invention is a power-operated screwdriving device configured to be used with a rotary power source and a supply of collated screws. The device comprises a housing structure and a feeding assembly defines a drive track carried by the housing and providing a workpiece engaging surface. The drive track is configured to receive a lead screw from the supply. A rotatable screw engaging bit member is constructed and arranged to be operatively connected to the rotary power source such that the rotary power source rotates the screw engaging bit member during a screwdriving operation. The rotatable screw engaging bit member is movable relative to the drive track and the workpiece engaging surface such that, when the workpiece engaging surface is engaged with the surface of the workpiece, rotation of the bit member and relative movement between the bit member and the drive track drives the lead screw into the workpiece during the screwdriving operation.

Abstract: A stapler includes a barrel slidably received in a housing for engaging with a work piece, and a base having one end adjustably secured to the barrel and having a groove for slidably receiving fasteners. A casing is slidably engaged onto the base, a pusher is pivotally coupled to the casing, and a spring biases the pusher to the casing and biases the casing and the pusher toward the barrel for moving the fasteners into the barrel one by one. The casing and the pusher may be moved away from the barrel by a cam surface when the barrel is moved inward of the housing against a spring.
