  • Patent number: 7546784
Abstract: A pair of pliers include a shank, a fixed jaw locked onto the shank, and a movable jaw pivotally mounted on the shank and movable relative to the fixed jaw. Thus, the first contact point of the locking teeth of the fixed jaw and the second contact point of the first engaging teeth of the first toothed face of the movable jaw have a larger friction with a workpiece by a special angle design of the fixed jaw and the movable jaw to enhance the clamping force of the fixed jaw and the movable jaw on the workpiece, so that the workpiece is clamped by the fixed jaw and the movable jaw exactly and closely to prevent the workpiece from being slipped from the fixed jaw and the movable jaw during operation of the pliers.

  • Patent number: 7114416
Abstract: In a rotatively operating tool, a lever (5) having a head (4) at its tip end is turnably connected to a handle (6) provided at its tip end with a lower jaw (12). The head (4) is provided with an upper jaw (7) brought into engagement with an engaging surface (2a) of a bolt head (2). A spring (14) is mounted between the lever (5) and the handle (6) for biasing the lever (5) to turn it in a direction of abutment of a stopper face (11) of the lever (5) against the handle (6). When the handle (6) is turned in one direction, the lower jaw (12) at the tip end of the handle (6) is brought into abutment against an engaging surface (2b) of the bolt head (2), whereby the bolt head (2) is clamped between the lower jaw (12) and the upper jaw (7). When the handle (6) is turned in an opposite direction, it is brought into a state in which the clamping of the bolt head (2) is canceled.

  • Patent number: 6971282
Abstract: A torquing device for assisting in the removal of a lid from a container. The device comprises a housing having a first engagement surface. Moveably mounted to the housing is an engagement member having a second engagement surface. The first and second engagement surfaces collectively define a slot which is sized and configured to accommodate at least a portion of the lid. Cooperatively engaged to the housing and to the engagement member is a biasing member for normally maintaining the engagement member in a release position. The engagement member is selectively moveable from the release position to a gripping position as a result of the rotation of the lid subsequent to the advancement thereof into the slot. The movement of the engagement member to the gripping position facilitates the rigid capture of the lid between the first and second engagement surfaces, thus allowing locking or unlocking torque to be applied thereto.

  • Patent number: 5746097
Abstract: A wrench for driving a fastener includes a fixed jaw formed on one end of a handle. A pivotal jaw is pivotally coupled to the handle at a pivot axle. A knob is slidably engaged on the handle. A resilient blade pivotally couples the knob to the pivotal jaw for allowing the knob to move the pivotal jaw toward the fixed jaw when the knob is moved toward the pivotal jaw. The handle includes a slot, the knob includes a projection extended inward of the slot for engaging with a spring which may bias the knob toward the pivotal jaw.

  • Patent number: 5706710
Abstract: A reversible/adjustable spanner includes an elongate body having a handle and a fixed jaw, a release button mounted above the body, a movable jaw, and an adjusting member. A substantially U-shaped plate is connected to the release button to move therewith and allows the body to extend therethrough. The adjusting member is securely mounted between the body and the U-shaped member and has an upper side with a plurality of teeth for engaging with a plurality of teeth on a bottom side of the body. The movable jaw has a a first end pivotally connected to one of the U-shaped member and the first end of the adjusting member and a second operative end for holding an object to be tightened or loosened between the second operative end and the fixed jaw, wherein a longitudinal movement of the release button causes a change in a distance between the fixed jaw and the movable jaw.

  • Patent number: 4773287
Abstract: An open-ended ratchet wrench characterized by a handle pivotally carrying a stationary jaw, with a toggle jaw pivotally secured to the latter. The handle includes a cam at the jaw mounting end thereof which presents camming surfaces selectively functional at operative conditions of the wrench. In this regard, one camming surface in combination with the pivotal jaw provides maximum force power during one operative condition, while another cam surface cooperates with the stationary jaw in a stop relationship. A feature of the invention is the ready sliding placement thereof into a workpiece engaging condition, where tightening and untightening of the workpiece is achieved by inverting the wrench 180.degree..
