Patent number: 6227082Abstract: The invention pertains to a special process and devices for the production preferably by machining of workpieces with non-circular outer and inner contours such as squares, hexagons, ellipses, polygons and the like, or eccentric circular bores and/or tappets. In the claimed process, the workpiece is rotated at constant angular velocity while a tool (e.g. the blade of a lathe tool) set eccentrically in relation to the workpieces if moved without rotating about is own axis at controllable speed in a circular path, workpiece and tool being moved towards one another in cycles with the appropriate advance. This ensures that apart from a small cuttings volume far each advance, very narrow tolerances can be set.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1998Date of Patent: May 8, 2001Inventors: Gerd Hörmansdörfer, Hans Ley, Wolfgang Westerteicher

Patent number: 5383380Abstract: A machine for cutting slices from a cylindrical workpiece such as a log of pressure sensitive tape. The machine has a machine frame and a mandrel on the frame for holding and rotating the cylindrical workpiece. A disc shaped cutting blade is mounted on a carriage and is movable to cut the workpiece into material slices. The carriage is movable to shift the cutting blade to locations along the mandrel at which the workpiece is cut into slices. A drive mechanism is connected to the carriage assembly for moving the carriage assembly along the mandrel. That drive mechanism has a drive handle which can be manually gripped to disengage a drive rack and pinion and so enable movement of the carriage assembly in either direction along the mandrel. A one-way clutch mechanism connects the handle to the pinion so that rotation of the handle in alternate directions incrementally moves the carriage assembly in one direction only along the mandrel.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1993Date of Patent: January 24, 1995Assignee: B. Patent number: 4216686Abstract: A rotary cutting mechanism for transversely slicing an elongated rotatably driven roll of material such as plastic film into a number of narrower rolls includes a pair of spaced-apart knife cutting blades mounted for free rotation about an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the roll. A rotary saw blade is mounted intermediate and in axial alignment with the cutting blades, and is independently driven to remove material between the cutting blade edges as the blades are moved together to slice the roll. The finished narrower cut rolls therefore exhibit smoothly finished side edges and are readily separable from each other, there being no frictional heat developed by the cutting blade edges which are free to turn with the material on the roll as they slice through it.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1978Date of Patent: August 12, 1980Assignee: Judelshon Industries, Inc.Inventor: Carl A. Patent number: 4213357Abstract: A device for cutting a metal or plastic jacket which surrounds a layer of foam on an insulated pipe is the subject of the present invention. A circumferential track mounts on the jacket and a ring gear is movable in the track. The cutting means is mounted on the ring gear for movement therewith. The cutting means is pivotally mounted so that it may assume a first position out of cutting engagement. Even in its non-cutting position, however, the leading edge of the cutting means will contact the jacket and movement in a circumferential direction will cause the cutting edge to penetrate the jacket and urge it into its cutting position. A motor is provided to drive the ring gear and cutting means around the track.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1978Date of Patent: July 22, 1980Assignee: H. C. Price Co.Inventors: Steven A.
