Patent number: 4085640Abstract: Incorporated with a heading machine for cutting continuous wire stock into required lengths for subsequent heading operation, the shearing apparatus includes a movable shear element against which is clamped a wire length to be cut off and which is reciprocated with respect to a fixed shear element. For reciprocating the movable shear element, which is carried by a slide, there is provided an actuator lever having a pusher member operatively mounted on its free end. The pusher member pushes the slide via an abutment thereon during the forward or cutting stroke of the movable shear element and, during the return stroke, via an air cylinder secured to the slide and held under constant supply of pressurized air.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1977Date of Patent: April 25, 1978Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Komatsu SeisakushoInventor: Takashi Furuto

Patent number: 4063483Abstract: The severing apparatus comprises a horizontal frame, a first pair of a lower stationary die and an upper swinging die, and a second pair of a lower movable die and an upper movable and swinging die. Each die is formed with a semicircular recess for receiving a billet. The first and second pairs are juxtaposed on the horizontal frame in the axial direction of the recesses. The second pair is slidable with respect to the first pair in the horizontal direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the recesses for severing the billet. The upper swinging die of the first pair and the upper movable and swinging die of the second pair are swung with respect to the lower stationary die and the lower movable die for receiving the billet.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1977Date of Patent: December 20, 1977Assignee: Ube Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Toshiro Kawaguchi, Setuo Fujii, Katsuhiko Matsui

Patent number: 4041589Abstract: A bobbin lugger having a feed assembly through which plural strips of edge-connected terminals are fed simultaneously until the end terminals are seated in grooves in a reciprocatably driven plate. As the plate is driven away from the feed assembly toward an intermediate station, the end terminals are severed. At the intermediate station, the terminals are simultaneously inserted in a bobbin, restrained in their inserted positions and then staked.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 1975Date of Patent: August 16, 1977Assignee: E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and CompanyInventor: Richard William Black

Patent number: 4036089Abstract: The assembly is for shearing rod sections with a movable cutter carriage carrying a shearing blade between a resting position and a shearing position. A reciprocating impact head is used to drive the cutter carriage. The impact head is moved into contact with an adjacent end of the cutter carriage to effect motion of the cutter carriage to the shearing position. The cutter carriage is biased toward the impact head and the resting position to effect the return stroke motion of the cutter carriage. The contact of the impact head with the adjacent end of the cutter carriage is broken on completion of the return stroke to draw the impact head a predetermined distance back to a starting position from which the impact head is ready to strike the adjacent end of the cutter carriage with considerable momentum upon the starting of the next shearing cycle.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1976Date of Patent: July 19, 1977Assignee: Hatebur Umformmaschinen AGInventor: Roger Criblez

Patent number: 3972116Abstract: A pin shear for shaping and cutting bone pins and other elongate elements to the desired length is described. A pneumatically operated, coaxial cutter assembly includes a cutter plug having pin passageways therethrough positioned inside a cutter body having an aperture therein located in registry with the passageway in a first position. The cutter plug is adapted to move within the cutter body to a second position out of registry with the aperture, whereby an elongate element positioned in the passageway and aperture is severed. A pneumatic operator including means for multiplication of the force applied is described.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1975Date of Patent: August 3, 1976Assignee: Hazleton Laboratories CorporationInventors: Alan K. Forsythe, Charles J. Green
-
Patent number: 3972257Abstract: A hydraulic shear for bar stock including a die housing constructed so that the forces produced by the shearing operation are absorbed by interlocking joints. The structure assures that there are no welded or bolted joints in the die housing in a position to receive the stresses resulting from the shearing operation. The shear comprises a three bolster arrangement wherein a hydraulic cylinder is positioned between a first end bolster and a center bolster and fitted into recesses provided in such bolsters. The die housing is positioned between the center bolster and the other end bolster and similarly fitted into recesses provided in those bolsters. Top and bottom plates are recessed and interfitted over the die retainer end plates to provide an interlocking construction eliminating the need for bolts and welds in the die housing. Such arrangement not only provides a strong stable unit, but also allows efficient access to the dies, such as for die changes.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1975Date of Patent: August 3, 1976Inventor: John Daniel Lazar, Jr.

Patent number: 3955453Abstract: In tube-shearing apparatus of the kind employing relatively transversely moving apertured dies and an internal supporting mandrel, the mandrel comprises an elastomeric body which is compressed axially with the high force to expand it radially against the tube wall such as to form not merely an internal support but effectively a supporting shear blade inside the tube. This allows clean shearing also of tubes having internal protuberances such as welding seams.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1974Date of Patent: May 11, 1976Assignee: T.I. (Group Services) LimitedInventors: Richard Quentin Carmichael, Roger George Bonelle
