Publication number: 20100319505Abstract: In a device and a method for conveying a paper web, there is provided a longitudinal cutter to cut a paper web conveyed in a conveying direction into at least a first partial web and a second partial web. Furthermore, there is provided a support member arranged behind the longitudinal cutter in conveying direction and supporting at least a portion of the first partial web and at least a portion of the second partial web so that movement of the first partial web and the second partial web in a direction transverse to the conveying direction is substantially blocked and that movement of the first partial web and the second partial web in the conveying direction is substantially not hindered.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 2, 2008Publication date: December 23, 2010Inventors: Ronald Celeste, Bernd Hoepner

Patent number: 7712402Abstract: A food slicer for slicing a food product is provided. The slicer may have an adjustable surface and a stationary surface with a blade interposed therebetween. The food product may be sliced with a specific thickness via the blade by traversing the food product from the adjustable surface to the stationary surface. A trailing edge of the adjustable surface and an edge of the blade may define a gap distance which determines a slicing thickness of the food product. A cam may contact an underside of the adjustable surface to set the gap distance. The gap distance may be reset by rotating the cam. More particularly, the cam may have a plurality of cam surfaces. Each of the cam surfaces may have a different distance to a rotating axis of the cam. The gap distance may be changed by rotating the cam such that a different cam surface contacts the adjustable surface's underside.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2005Date of Patent: May 11, 2010Assignee: Kyocera Tycom CorporationInventor: Takayuki Ishii

Patent number: 7143676Abstract: A roller table with a vise carriage and movable roller supports for moving, positioning, and supporting material. In the preferred embodiment, a hydraulic cylinder and piston rod are used in conjunction with a rack and pinion system such that there is a doubling effect on the piston rod stroke for effectuating differential positioning of two movable roller supports and the vise carriage. One movable roller support is disposed at approximately the midpoint between the vise carriage and a fixed vise. For a given displacement of the vise carriage, the movable roller support travels half as far so as to remain essentially at the midpoint of the span. The second movable roller support is disposed on the other side of the vise carriage, more or less at the midpoint between the vise carriage and a fixed roller support.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2004Date of Patent: December 5, 2006Assignee: Marvel Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventor: James K. Patent number: 7028598Abstract: A rotary printing press has a folding station where the printed web is perforated both transversely and longitudinally in order to expedite subsequent folding thereof into signatures. In order to incorporate a longitudinal perforator into the folding station without adding to its size, a longitudinally perforating blade similar to a circular saw is mounted to a blade carrier shaft which is rotatably supported opposite a feed roller by which the web is frictionally fed into and through the folding station. An annular, longitudinally grooved anvil is formed circumferentially on the feed roller for engaging the longitudinally perforating blade via the web being thereby perforated. The longitudinally perforating blade is movable with the blade carrier shaft into and out of perforating engagement with the anvil on the feed roller.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2002Date of Patent: April 18, 2006Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Tokyo Kikai SeisakushoInventor: Tsunetoshi Teshima

Patent number: 6763871Abstract: A slip cutting system sheets an infeed web into discrete articles and merges the articles to a carrier web. The slip cutting system comprises a continuously rotating cutting die having knife blades and packings consecutively around a peripheral surface. The packings cooperate with the knife blades to define a circumferential space between each packing and an associated knife blade. When a packing is at a nip with an anvil roller, the infeed web is drawn in a downstream direction. When a circumferential space is at the nip, the infeed web halts downstream motion. When a knife blade is at the nip, the knife blade sheets the infeed web. An insert station cooperates with the cutting die to longitudinally space the articles as they merge to and are propelled downstream by the carrier web. At a subsequent station, the composite web is cut to manufacture individual products.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2001Date of Patent: July 20, 2004Assignee: Converting Biophile Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Thomas F. Patent number: 6655252Abstract: A conveyor device for miter-box saws which is arranged for movement horizontally perpendicular in relation to the direction of conveyance in order to be able to avoid any possible swivelling of the miter-box saw. The horizontal travel of the conveyor device takes place in part and in a swivelling direction due to the swivelling motion of the saw itself.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2001Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Assignee: Keuro Besitz GmbH & Co. Patent number: 6418614Abstract: An apparatus for cutting a roll-formed product for a roll-forming unit has at least a roll-forming machine. The cutting apparatus has a cutter mechanism arranged downstream of the roll-forming machine, for cutting the roll-formed product sent out from the roll-forming machine into a predetermined cut length. The cutters apparatus further has a feed roller rotatable at a controlled rotational speed, for sending out a formed product cut by the cutter mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1999Date of Patent: July 16, 2002Assignee: Calsonic Kansei CorporationInventors: Tomoaki Akutsu, Harumi Obata

Patent number: 6212986Abstract: Provided is an automated case cutting device that may be remotely controlled to rotate and cut an outer case of an object. It can be applied to the disassembly and disposal, testing, or inspection of munitions. In one application, the device cradles a generally cylindrical munition of a length much greater than its diameter on two rollers attached to a bed or plate comprising a support frame. One of the rollers is rotated by a transmission mechanism powered by an electrical motor, while the other roller may also be turned by the same transmission mechanism via a sprocket and chain set. The munition may be further held in place by one or a set of holding rollers attached to a frame hinged to the support frame, so that the holding roller(s) swing onto the top of the munition after the munition is placed on the cradling rollers. The holding roller(s) may also be turned via a second sprocket and chain set, driven off the same drive shaft as the first roller.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1998Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: Mark W.
