With Tool Positioning Means Synchronized With Cutting Stroke Patents (Class 83/556)
  • Patent number: 11602912
Abstract: The method comprises steps during which, by making the cylindrical form rotate in a first circumferential direction, the ply is deposited until the front edge and performs a complete rotation. A point of penetration is marked on the ply on a cutting line, and a cutting blade that is driven in translation is made to penetrate between two wires placed on the cutting line at the point of penetration. The cylindrical form is made to rotate in an opposite second circumferential direction while displacing the cutting blade in a first transverse direction until the cutting blade is disposed at a predetermined and non-zero distance from a first selvedge. Without retracting the cutting blade from the wire gap, the cylindrical form is made to rotate in the first circumferential direction while displacing the cutting blade in an opposite second transverse direction until the cutting blade emerges at a second selvedge.

Abstract: A cutter, such as a wire cutting element is moved in a D-shaped path which includes a substantially straight downward path to cut a slice off of the end of an advancing log of dough, such as cookie dough. The cutter returns with a curvilinear motion including a horizontally forward motion beginning at the bottom of the downward motion to disengage the cutter from the advancing log and to move the cutter sufficiently forward to ensure that the cutter does not engage the advancing end of the log during upward movement. At the end of the upward movement the cutter returns with rearward horizontal movement to the path of downward movement. The severed slice is discharged with the aid of air jets from the end of a conveyor where it drops onto a second conveyor for advancement to subsequent processing stations such as an oven.

Abstract: Dough which is to be formed into small volumes for later baking into bread, etc. is moved from a mass of dough in the lower portion of a hopper by a pair of helical screws, through a conduit, first to a metering means and then through a dispensing nozzle. A paddle reciprocates through an arc adjacent the dispensing nozzle and on its downward stroke is oscillated so that its lower edge abuts the dispensing nozzle to sever the dough moved through the dispensing nozzle away from the oncoming dough, and then oscillates away from the dispensing nozzle as it returns to its ready position. The downward severing movement of the paddle is initiated by the metering means.

  • Patent number: 4022088
Abstract: Transformer core sheets are cut out by selectively intermittently advancing a metal strip and cutting off the ends at various angles by changing the cutting angle of a swivel-type cutting shear. Trapezoidal or parallelogram pieces are cut by cutting off the lengths of strip along shear lines alternately at 90.degree. to each other. Hexagonal pieces are formed by severing the strip with one oblique cut, spacing the stock and the cut-off piece lengthwise from each other, and then cutting off a tip on each piece by a single cut that bridges the gap between the pieces, at 90.degree. to the previous cut. For this purpose, the cut-off piece may be advanced or the stock retracted, or both, to space apart the stock and the cut-off piece. A further cutter, at right angles to strip travel, may be provided for cutting off tips of the workpieces previously obliquely cut, at right angles to the direction of strip movement.
