  • Patent number: 4182186
Abstract: A notching mechanism for objects which includes a base and an upright support secured to and vertically projecting from the base. A member for supporting an object(s) to be notched is also mounted on the base adjacent to the upright support, first and second cooperating cutting members, the first cutting member being fixedly secured to the base and the second member being connected to the upright support. A member for reciprocating the second cutting member is mounted to the upright support so as to operatively cooperate with the first cutting member and thereby form a notch in the object(s).

  • Patent number: 4111089
Abstract: The dispenser comprises a generally cylindrical or cup-like base member which removably receives a spool of a dispensable and cuttable plastic-coated ribbon or wire which is wound on the spool. The side wall of the base has an opening through which the wire or tape can be fed from the spool. Each spool can be replaced in the base member as it is used up, or a new spool can be inserted at any time, if desired. A disk-like cover member, carrying a central post, forms a tight mechanical fit with the base, with the post engaging the spool, whereby the spool is held in place and can rotate thereon. The base carries an extension plate which carries a cutting mechanism which is generally aligned with the opening in the side wall, the cutting mechanism being provided for cutting, to a desired length, the wire or tape dispensed from the spool.

  • Patent number: 4034449
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for crimping and shearing contacts of a contact strip, the device comprising a stationary crimping jaw serving as supporting means for the contact to be crimped, a second crimping jaw movable relative to the first crimping jaw, and a shearing device for shearing off the junction between the contact located on the stationary crimping jaw and the carrier strip interconnecting the contacts. The shearing device is in the form of a leaf spring adapted to fit flat on the contact strip in a position flush with the point of shearing, and cooperating with the fixed crimping jaw to effect the shearing action. The contact resting on the stationary crimping jaw is supported by the crimping jaw, and the leaf spring projects laterally beyond the crimping jaw and is adapted to be moved through a shearing stroke relative to the fixed jaw by means of a thrust member on the movable jaw.

  • Patent number: 4003187
Abstract: In a preferred embodiment, there is provided a microfilm jacket support supportable of a flat microfilm jacket in a horizontal position in an anchored state with a leading edge of the jacket extending beyond the support when mounted thereon, and with a microfilm insertion opening into microfilm jacket reservoir space being positioned at the edge of the support face-up when mounted on the support, and as a part of the combination additionally there being an upper edge pressure-flexing mechanism for flexing downwardly the leading edge extending beyond the support adjacent the insertion opening, and a feeding mechanism for aligning a longitudinal elongated axis of the microfilm with a longitudinal elongated axis of the microfilm jacket reservoir space and with the insertion opening and for feeding advancingly intermittently microfilm into the insertion opening and for intermittently serving microfilm, and additionally for mounting in association with microfilm immediately adjacent the insertion opening a microfi

  • Patent number: 3996782
Abstract: A compact chain cutting apparatus for shearing and opening a chain link in one operation. A hand operated hydraulic jack is employed to actuate a pair of shearing members which not only cooperate to cut the link but also bend the severed ends of the link out of alignment to facilitate the removal of the link from those adjacent to it.

  • Patent number: 3996831
Abstract: A metal shearing or punching machine has a body with upper and lower jaws defining a throat, the lower jaw carrying a die and the upper jaw carrying means for applying force to a blade movable in the throat to co-act with the die. The blade is pivotably mounted with respect to the body and the position of the pivoting axis on the body is selected to substantially eliminate detrimental misalignment of the blade and die when application of working force causes deformation of the body. For a given force to be applied between the blade and die the body can accordingly be made of relatively lighter construction than conventional castings used hitherto. Lateral stability of the blade is further enhanced by use of a relatively long bearing for the blade mount, e.g. substantially the entire width of the body adjacent to the pivot. In a preferred embodiment, the body of the machine is composed substantially wholly of two profile-cut steel plates connected by ties.
