  • Patent number: 8371032
Abstract: A power tool comprises a crank pin that is eccentrically rotatable by a motor about a rotational axis. A non-rotatable first slider is linearly reciprocated by the crank pin so as to linearly reciprocate a tool. An eccentric pin is disposed substantially diametrically opposite of the crank pin relative to the rotational axis and is eccentrically rotatable by the motor about the rotational axis. A non-rotatable second slider is linearly reciprocated by the eccentric pin in a substantially opposite phase from the first slider so that the second slider acts as a counterweight to the first slider in order to reduce vibrations at least in the direction of linear reciprocation. A rotatable component is rotatably driven by the motor about the rotational axis and has a center of gravity displaced from its rotational axis towards the eccentric pin so as to supplement the vibration reducing function of the counterweight.

  • Patent number: 7996996
Abstract: The present invention provides a technique for achieving weight reduction of the counter weight while reducing vibration in a reciprocating power tool. A tool bit performs a predetermined operation by reciprocating. A slider reciprocates to drive the tool bit. A motion converting mechanism converts a rotating output of the motor into a reciprocating movement of the slider. A counter weight reciprocates in a direction opposite to the reciprocating direction of the slider to reduce vibration caused by the reciprocating movement of the slider. A component part includes component of motion in a direction parallel to the reciprocating movement of the slider to cooperate with the counter weight in reducing vibration caused within the power tool. Thus, the weight of the counter weight can be decreased.

  • Patent number: 7549361
Abstract: A vibration damping device is described that dampens vibration produced during the conversion of rotational motion into reciprocal motion. The damping is performed using a simple structure wherein first and second conversion mechanisms are symmetrically arranged with respect to a plane of symmetry, first and second rotating shafts rotate opposite to each other at a constant speed, and the rotational motion is converted into reciprocal motion. The total of mass acting on gravity centers of a first balancer and a second balancer is approximately equal to the total of mass reciprocally driven by a first driving shaft and a second driving shaft. Both gravity centers are positioned 180 degrees to the first driving shaft and second driving shaft across the axes of the first rotating shaft and second rotating shaft. As a consequence, the forces in the direction of an axis can be balanced suppressing vibration.

Accordingly, the drive of the balancing weights does not come from structural members of the machine which are directly mounted to the ram. Accordingly, no mass forces and oscillations of the balancing weights and of the structures driving same can be transmitted onto the ram. Conclusively, the moving sequence of the ram and accordingly the cutting or embossing action is no longer influenced detrimentally such that the quality of a respective product produced is improved.

  • Patent number: 4825741
Abstract: A power driven reciprocatory machine tool employs an endless belt trained in tension around spaced end pulleys to transmit reciprocatory movement of a drive attached to one run of the belt to a tool carrier clamped to the opposite run of the belt. The moving elements attached to the opposite runs of the belt counterbalance each other to minimize vibration generated by stroke reversal. In one application, the tool carrier mounts a relatively thin saw blade between spaced upper and lower arms which is employed to saw finely detailed edges on a workpiece manually guided to the blade on a stationary horizontal work table. Clamp means which are tightened by the tension of the blade couple the blade to upper and lower arms of the tool carrier, one of the clamp means being mounted on its arm by a manually adjustable blade tensioning device. The saw, tool carrier and drive may be rotatively adjusted about a horizontal axis to cut inclined or beveled edges on a workpiece supported on the stationary horizontal table.

  • Patent number: 4823658
Abstract: An improved punch assembly (10) for a punch press comprises a main piston (13) driving a punching tool (11) and an auxiliary piston (17) which can be selectively enabled to cooperate with the main pisto1 (13) in a high force, slow speed mode or disabled to allow the main pisto1 (13) to operate alone in a low force high speed mode. The punch assembly (10) also comprises a pressure transducer (41) and position transducer (25) whose respective outputs are connected to a microprocessor controller for the punch assembly. Operation of the punch press is microprocessor controlled to reduce noise and punch cycle time. A stripper assembly (42-48) is also provided and operates in conjunction with the punching tool (11) under microprocessor control to facilitate tool stripping. The stripper assembly (42-48) can also be used for automatic measuring of work sheet thickness.

Abstract: A first eccenter sleeve allocated to the drive of the devices operative for the balancing of masses is drivingly connected to the eccenter shaft by means of a displaceable locking bolt. The first eccenter sleeve is provided with pins and slide rings engaging into slots in the second eccenter sleeves. The second eccenter sleeves are connected via punch connecting rods to the ram of the machine. Slides are supported in the machine frame, which slides can be moved into slots provided in the second eccenter sleeves. Accordingly, all three eccenter sleeves can be held against rotation on the eccenter shaft. The drive connection between eccenter shaft and all eccenter sleeves proceeds accordingly via one single connecting member, namely the locking bolt. And this locking bolt operates together with one eccenter sleeve. Accordingly, no splined shafts which must be machined extremely precisely but are prone to knock out during operation are necessary.
