Abstract: Personal cutting devices in the form of hand held punches for producing jewelry display cards include two aligned templates having identical patterns of apertures and being securely mounted in a frame such that a space between the templates accommodates a piece of cardstock. There is a spring biased movable member having elongate cutting elements designed to pass through the apertures in both templates, and an activation lever on which indicia is printed to show the aperture patterns produced by the punches. A housing protects the mechanism. Each punch is specifically designed to produce a display card that can hold and display a single article of jewelry such as a pair of earrings, a necklace or a brooch. The punches vary in size according to the template patterns. The punches enable the jewelry designer to use any card stock, including a business card, to display an article of jewelry.

Abstract: A trimmer to cut a backing on which an overlay is mounted. The trimmer includes cutting blades and a removable fence that has a stop. The fence is carried by a pair of risers that are capable of moving relative to the work surface. A rotatable lever arm is coupled to the risers by a linking cam rod. When the lever arm and linking cam rod are rotated in a first direction, the risers move upwardly from the work surface and the stop of the fence is lifted upwardly and off the work surface to create a gap that enables the backing to move past the fence to the cutting blades to be trimmed. When the lever arm and linking cam rod rotate in an opposite direction, the risers move downwardly toward the work surface, and the stop is lowered against the backing to prevent the overlay from moving to the cutting blades.

Abstract: A cutting tool (1) for a punching machine has a punching body (8) on which a plurality of punching tool elements (5) which are located parallel to each other are provided. The puncing body (8) consists of a double-layered metal sheet (2, 12). Essentially longitudinal openings (7) are advantageously punched out of a sheet metal plate (2 and 12) symmetrically about an axis (6), these longitudinal openings (7) being situated parallel to each other, respectively. The sheet metal plate (2, 12) is then folded about the axis (6) in order to form the double-layered punching tool elements (5). This allows the use of more simple punching machines and enables a punching machine to be produced from just a few individual parts.

Abstract: A punch includes a base with a base plate mounted thereto and a plurality of punch units are fixedly connected to the base plate by bolts. Each punch unit has a bottom plate and a casing which is connected to the bottom plate so as to define a receiving slot between the bottom plate and the casing. A punch member movably extends through the casing and a spring is mounted to the punch member such that a lower end of the punch member may extend through the casing, the receiving slot, the bottom plate and the base plate. Two positioning blocks extend from the bottom plate and are engaged with a connection hole defined in the base plate so as to prevent the punch unit from sliding or rotating relative to the base plate. A handle is pivotably connected to the base plate and has a plurality protrusions on an underside thereof such that the punch members are pushed by the protrusions.

Abstract: A paper punch device includes an elongate base having a first end, a second end, a top side and a length greater than nine inches. A compartment is positioned within the base. An aperture positioned adjacent to the first end extends through the top side into the compartment. An engaging arm is elongated and has rearward end and a forward end. The rearward end is pivotally coupled to the top side adjacent to the second end and the engaging arm extends over the aperture. A piston extends through and is movably mounted in the engaging arm. The piston includes a lower portion that may selectively be extended through the aperture. A first biasing member biases the lower portion upwardly away from the base. An actuator selectively moves the lower portion of the piston downward and into the aperture.
