  • Patent number: 5784920
Abstract: A forming die set has one or more independently operated hydraulic actuator assemblies mounted directly in one of the die shoes to enable a programmed piercing pattern to be carried out at the time the workpiece is formed. Each actuator assembly includes a compact self contained actuator, in which both a piston and piston rod and a punch retainer are slidable in different sections of a housing bore with supply and return connections both through an end cap of the cylinder housing with a return flow path through a tube extending through the piston. The piston rod extends through an annular rod gland member positioned in the cylinder housing bore, and has an end protruding through to a punch retainer to which it is coupled. The punch retainer is slidable in a section of the cylinder housing bore. A purging system using a check valve in the supply line establishes an incremental flow back to the reservoir eliminate air bubbles.

  • Patent number: 5746110
Abstract: A compact drive cylinder with a cylinder barrel, an end cap and a guide cap is provided. In the cylinder barrel an axially sliding piston is arranged, on which a piston rod is mounted which extends through the guide cap. The piston divides a thrust chamber off in a fluid-tight manner chamber from a return chamber, the thrust chamber being connected with a thrust chamber port and the return chamber being connected with a return chamber port respectively in a fluid-tight fashion. Both the thrust chamber port and also the return chamber port are arranged in the end cap. An axially extending abutment rod having an abutment extends through the end cap and has its internal end extending through the piston into the return chamber so that an abutment for the piston is located in the return chamber.

  • Patent number: 5609091
Abstract: A fluid power operated advancing unit has housing and a plunger adapted to run axially therein. The plunger is designed in the form of a three sided prismatic body at least along its length section running in the housing, said body being guided in the housing at its three side surface, whereas three transitions between respective adjacent side are not guided. The result is accordingly an extremely accurate guiding action for the plunger while simultaneously preventing rotation thereof.

  • Patent number: 5564993
Abstract: A roller-control unit for a continuously-variable-ratio transmission of the toroidal-race rolling-traction type, in which the roller carriage (10, 14) is connected by a pivotal joint (30) to the piston (15) of a hydraulic piston-and-cylinder unit (15, 16). The piston (15) is double-acting, and the piston/cylinder contact is the only locus through which the roller carriage (10, 14) makes contact with the fixed structure of the transmission. The piston (15) may have an inner part (32) to which the roller carriage (10, 14) is jointed, and a sleeve-like outer part (33, 34) which makes the necessary sliding and sealing contacts with the cylinder (16), but allows the roller carriage (10, 14) the necessary freedom of pivoting movement during use.

  • Patent number: 5547352
Abstract: The pump is formed by a body having a cavity with a cylindrical chamber in which a piston is reciprocated toward and away from an inlet and outlet aperture. A crank shaft extends through an aperture formed through the piston transverse to its axis and through opposite walls of the cavity. The crank shaft has a cam located in the piston aperture. Upon rotation of the crank shaft, the cam alternately engages opposite facing cam surfaces of the piston in the piston aperture to reciprocate the piston to draw fluid into the chamber from an inlet path and then to pump the fluid out through an outlet path. The piston has spaced apart O-rings on its outer wall which engage the chamber wall upon reciprocation of the piston.

Abstract: A pneumatically actuated lubricant pump wherein air is forced into the cylinder through a passage extending longitudinally through the piston rod. The rod is part of a piston assembly reciprocably mounted within a pump housing. The air passage extends from a lateral rod entrance through the rod and through the piston head. Air is forced into and released from the air cylinder through the passageway. In an alternative double-action embodiment, a second air flow passage extends through the pump housing alone directly to the air cylinder permitting compressed air to be alternately supplied to the opposite sides of the piston head.

  • Patent number: 5447095
Abstract: A fluid-powered rotary actuator having a body with a cylindrical interior sidewall portion. A drive shaft extends generally coaxially within the body and is supported for rotation relative thereto. The shaft has a grooved, outwardly facing circumferential sidewall portion positioned within the body. A ring gear is positioned generally coaxially within the body and extends about the shaft with an annular space therebetween. The ring gear has a grooved, inwardly facing circumferential sidewall portion. The ring gear is formed as a separate part from the body and the ring gear grooved sidewall portion is formed prior to positioning of the ring gear in the body. The ring gear is fixedly attached to the body to prevent rotation therebetween by a weld between the ring gear and the body interior sidewall portion. A stop member is engaged by the ring gear.
