  • Patent number: 7254636
Abstract: A distributed network-attached storage network provides content distribution using conventional file transfer protocols such as NFS and CIFS. A filer proxy accepts a client request and translates the client request to a file transfer protocol accepted at the file system having the file requested in the client request. The filer proxy generates a file handle for the file containing redundant filer proxy information to be used for failover to a backup filer proxy in the event of a network error or failure of an original filer proxy. The file handle also contains information for network security purposes such as detection of forged file handles.

  • Patent number: 7224780
Abstract: A transceiver is operable to connect to a 2-wire conductive path to communicate information in multiple channels to a companion transceiver. Data is encoded redundantly inside the channels, enabling communication to succeed even when one of the channels drops out due to noise. The channels may be selected so that they do not overlap the bands used by common radio sources. The companion transceiver decodes the data using the signals it receives from the multiple bands, and transmits information back to the first transceiver. Transmitted information may include video signals and signals from infrared transmitters.

  • Patent number: 7219153
Abstract: A system incorporates notification aspects of a presence system with content distribution capabilities of a content delivery network to both notify subscribers of the presence of content from a host and provide relatively fast and efficient delivery of the content to the user. A content host provides content, such as streaming audio or video media, to a content delivery network. The content host also provides notification of the availability of the content to a central site or presence server. A subscriber to the content host receives, from the presence server, notification as to the availability of content by the content host. The subscriber also receives notification as to the location of the content in the content delivery network. Based upon the notification, the subscriber retrieves the content from the content delivery network.

  • Patent number: 7210500
Abstract: A servovalve assembly includes a motor having a flapper shaft. A flapper couples to a first end of the flapper shaft such that the flapper shaft orients the flapper between a first nozzle and a second nozzle of the servovalve assembly. An adjustment assembly adjusts a position of the flapper relative to the nozzles of the servovalve. The adjustment assembly enables a servovalve manufacturer to set the flapper of the servovalve at a null position without disassembling the servovalve. Rather, the manufacturer is capable of simply installing the adjustment assembly and deforming an arm portion of the adjustment assembly for proper null position calibration.

  • Patent number: 7211767
Abstract: A system is configured to treat a conductive component. The system includes a power source, an interface configured to electrically contact with a surface of the conductive component, and a controller coupled to the power source and the interface. The controller is configured to pass electric current (e.g., electric pulses) from the power source through the interface and the component to melt tips of a set of cracks along the surface of the component. As the current passes around the set of cracks, the current generates localized heating in high-resistance dislocations at the crack tips to repair the cracks. Accordingly, such current heals the cracks and inhibits the cracks from spreading. Furthermore, the effect of the current remains localized thus enabling the current to strengthen the material around the cracks while easily avoiding damaging or weakening other portions of the component.

  • Patent number: 7043538
Abstract: Via a thin client, a first user communicates with a presence server and establishes a communication channel with a second user through the presence server. The communication channel supports instant messaging in which the first user communicates via use of a first communication protocol and the second user communicates via use of a second communication protocol. When the thin client temporarily disconnects from the presence server, the presence server maintains an active “open” session for the thin client even though the thin client is disconnected from the presence server. The thin client can reconnect to the presence server and re-establish communications over the open session, enabling the first user to again instant message the second user.

  • Patent number: 7010796
Abstract: A system can analyze an application programming interface definition to automatically produce software string generator and parser software components allowing remote access to functions within the application programming interface definition by processes that are not natively compatible with the computing system environment in which the application programming interface operates. A first string generator processes can produce an encapsulated function call from a first process, such as a Java-based process, that calls a first function in a first computing environment. A second parser process operates in a second computing environment to receive the encapsulated function call and to invoke a second function call in a second process, such as a C-based process. Results from the second function call are returned to a second string generator which produces an encapsulated response that is returned to a first parser process.
