  • Patent number: 5142800
Abstract: A snow groomer tow frame alignment device which automatically centers the implement in line with the vehicle without the visual attention of the vehicle operator. The device utilizes a pair of inductive proximity switches and a corresponding metallic shield disposed around a frame stem pivot, switching in response to misalignment, initiating circuits directing a fluid control valve to actuate to provide fluid to alignment restoring cylinder and ram assemblies.

  • Patent number: 5121641
Abstract: A beet tare-taking mechanism and associated sample bucket, wherein the bucket travels in a long narrow elliptic path requiring minimum clearance. A direct drive gear powers a central arm at the end of which is journaled a tare bucket arm carrying the bucket at its outermost end. The tare bucket is geared to rotate with respect to the central arm as it rotates about the central shaft, alternately folding across the mechanism and extending directly outward from it, causing the bucket to travel in the aforementioned elliptic path.

  • Patent number: 5100129
Abstract: A home self-exercising device for strengthening the muscles, tendons and ligaments of the foot, ankle and lower leg, especially the forward lower leg muscles. The foot harness is adjusted to grasp the heel and forward foot of the patient. An elastic tension member is secured to the harness in the vicinity of the ball of the foot, and the other end is secured to an article of furniture or the like. The foot may then be moved against the force of the elastic member in the upward direction and rotated about the ankle. The difficulty of exercising the front lower leg muscles without the aid of another person is overcome by this device.

  • Patent number: 5088210
Abstract: A method, and associated apparatus, for drying harvested brine shrimp cysts for storage for subsequent hatching for fish food. The cysts are washed with fresh water, and strained through a sieve to remove foreign material, flotation separated to eliminate dead cysts, strained out of the water, dewatered centrifugally, and finally dried in a special apparatus which prevents any caking of the cysts together. The drying apparatus includes a drum with cyst-retaining porous walls, mounted on its side to rotate in a vented housing about its longitudinal axis. Drying air is blown into the rotating drum, exiting through the porous walls, drying the cysts without caking.

  • Patent number: 5081716
Abstract: A crotch construction for a garment of pliable fabric which prevents the bunching of the fabric into the median cleft of the body in the crotch area. A barrier piece of relatively heavy, non-stretch material is sewn to a strip attached at its edges to the cloth of the garment, so as to float over the cleft and prevent folds of the cloth of the garment from entering and bunching therein.

  • Patent number: 5077919
Abstract: An improved snow comb for use attached to the trailing edge of tiller skirts and the like. The comb has laterally directed rows of elongate teeth at the trailing edge, the teeth being angled to the direction of tiller travel, so as to produce a powdery, rather than a ridged final skiing surface.

  • Patent number: 5072904
Abstract: A device for holding artists' brushes and the like having two pairs of opposed rows of reeds with their tips in close proximity, the reeds deflecting to support the handle of the brush at spaced apart points. The device permits the brushes to be stored horizontally to prevent draining of wet paint onto the handles, or in other attitudes that may be preferred by the user.

  • Patent number: 5067264
Abstract: The flexible tiller has a center and two end sections, each including a cutter bar, frame, apron and grooming bar. The two tiller end sections are connected flexibly to the ends of the center section by frame to frame hinges and by cutter to cutter universal joints, so that the end sections can rotate freely about the hinges. The tiller center section is secured to the towing mechanism to oscillate about a central horizontal axis in the direction of travel. The oscillating center section and the two pivotally attached end sections cooperate to enable the tiller to closely conform to and thoroughly groom rolling snow paths without reducing them to flat ones. The rolling paths are enjoyable to ski, and are slower and safer. A controllable hydraulic ram is mounted to act across each hinge, so that the operator may select the degree of bending permitted at each hinge, and may hydraulically lock it into selected position, if desired.

  • Patent number: 5060947
Abstract: A magnetic pendulum random number selector having a symmetrical field of permanent magnets mounted in its base, along with a pendulum with a magnetized mass supported to swing through the fields of the magnets. The magnets are arranged symmetrically with respect to a vertical axis through the pendulum support point. The pendulum is manually set to swinging and comes to rest randomly at one of several locations above the assembly of magnets.

  • Patent number: 5033801
Abstract: A cleat assembly for the endless track of a vehicle which effectively reduces loosening of the cleat upon the flexible belt of the track, comprising a grouser plate incorporating projections distributed thereover and a backing plate on the other side of the belt also having beltward projections, said projections being clamped by mounting bolts to press into the surface of the flexible belt, to provide shearing area to resist the belt load upon the grouser. The mounting holes through the belt are prevented from elongating and the cleat assembly is held firmly in position even after extended use and plastic flow of the material of the belt.

  • Patent number: 5013181
Abstract: A night-visible traffic lane marking device for aircraft landing and takeoff strips, roadways and the like. The markers are installed embedded into the lane with their upper surfaces flush with the traffic surface. Reflective, fluorescent or phosphorescent elements are provided encased within a transparent uppermost layer. Each element extends vertically to provide a substantial profile for long distance visibility. The transparent covering extends a substantial distance from the reflective element in the direction of oncoming traffic, to increase long distance visibility. Night visibility of the element may be further enhanced by a self-contained, solar powered, illumination unit installed within the transparent layer.

  • Patent number: 4999178
Abstract: A thermochemical cycle for the recovery of hydrogen and sulfur by splitting hydrogen sulfide, based upon initial reactions between the hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide. The cycle exists in three versions, two utilizing the initial reaction of hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioixide. One of these versions utilizes high temperature for the initial step for production of carbon monoxide for use in the shift reaction to produce hydrogen. The other conducts the initial step of moderate temperature in the presence of a desiccant to increase the yields of carbonyl sulfide and carbon disulfide, which are subsequently subjected to high temperature reactions to produce the carbon monoxide for the shift reaction.
