Abstract: A night-visible traffic lane marking device for aircraft landing and takeoff strips, roadways and the like. The markers are installed embedded into the lane with their upper surfaces flush with the traffic surface. Reflective, fluorescent or phosphorescent elements are provided encased within a transparent uppermost layer. Each element extends vertically to provide a substantial profile for long distance visibility. The transparent covering extends a substantial distance from the reflective element in the direction of oncoming traffic, to increase long distance visibility.
Abstract: A device for removing and disposing of blood sampling needles with a minimum of manipulation and without manual contact with any contaminated part. An electrical motor operates a cog wheel to unscrew the needle from the vacuum container sleeve to drop into a closed disposal receptacle. The motor is initiated by depression of a starting switch by the sleeve. The cog wheel is recessed for unimpeded insertion of the needle and sleeve for needle removal. A cycle control circuit assures that the wheel stops in the proper position with the recess adjacent the needle insertion site.
Abstract: A fencing wire unwinder and tensioner for constructing wire fences, the apparatus comprising a carrying platform for spools and rolls of fencing wire, whereby the wire is unwound and tensioned in a single operation for attachment to the preset posts of the fence. The device may be adapted for barbed wire only, woven wire only, and chain link only, or barbed wire along with either of the latter. Spools of barbed wire strand and/or rolls of woven or chain link wire are carried rotatably on a platform, the wire being fastened to the fence and unwound therealong as the platform is carried along the fence line by the vehicle. The wire unwound from the roll is tensioned by braking band before leaving the platform. Helpers follow the platform and attach the fencing in tensioned condition to the preset line of posts.
Abstract: A baby safety and warmth bag for use in conjunction with automobile baby seats, having a torso portion and a pair of leg encasing tubular portions, along with a back portion extending upwardly from the torso. The back portion carries clearance slits to permit use of automobile baby seat shoulder straps to secure the bag and contained baby within the seat. The bag is also provided with a pair of side loops for use with automobile seat belts, to secure the bag and infant directly to automobile seats. Further, a pair of openings is provided through the back portion spaced for the seat belt of a stroller. The bag may also be advantageously used with infant backpacks.
Abstract: A carpenter' chalk marking device for producing marks at regular intervals along a straight line upon a working surface, characterized by chalk marking units mounted along a chalk line and configured to hold the line from contact with the marking surface to prevent extraneous marks. The device also includes a chalk containing canister with a storage spool for the chalk line.

Abstract: A food grater attachment which facilitates the use of a grater with receptacles of various sizes and shapes. The grater may be installed in a frame which is hinged to a clip for engaging the wall of the receptacle. The hinge incorporates locking provisions so that the frame and grater may be immobilized in selected inclined positions so that the grater is entirely over the mouth of the bowl or other receptacle.
Abstract: A drinking vessel retainer for use upon a seat cushion of an automobile. The retainer has a wedge shaped base to hold the vessel upright on sloping seats, and is anchored into the space between the seat and backrest cushions by a flat extension. An open ended, reversible insert, flanged inwardly at one end, enables the holder to support both large and small vessels. According to one aspect of the invention, the retainers are adapted for use in pairs connected in tandem across the seat to save space.
Abstract: A fencing wire unwinder and tensioner, and method, for constructing wire fences, the apparatus comprising a carrying platform for spools and rolls of fencing wire, whereby the wire is unwound and tensioned in a single operation for attachment to the preset posts of the fence. According to one embodiment, the device is adapted for barbed wire only; to another embodiment, woven wire only; and a third embodiment both barbed and woven wire. Spools of barbed wire strand and/or rolls of woven wire are carried rotatably on a platform, the wire being fastened to the fence to be unwound therealong as the platform is carried along the fence line by the vehicle. As the wire is unwound from the roll it is tensioned before leaving the platform by a braking disc (barbed wire) or an elongate braking drum (woven wire). A braking band is provided for each of the drum and the discs so that the wire is adjustably tensioned as it is drawn from the apparatus.
Abstract: An adjustable saddle insert for individual strings of a musical instrument. The insert may be installed upon the bridge of an existing instrument without any alteration of the bridge or of the instrument, and provides for precise selection of vibrating length of the string and its height above the instrument for precise intonation of each string. Each saddle is clamped upon the insert in selection position longitudinally to the string, and the height of each is adjusted by removal of material from its upper ridge.
Abstract: A soil amendment material and an associated process for the preparation thereof, comprising a water swellable hydrophilic polymer infused with high concentrations of plant nutritive salts. The amendment is prepared by repeated soaking of hydrophilic swellable polymer particles in a solution of nutritive salts in water, followed by heat application to drive off the entrained water, leaving the nutrients entrapped in the polymer particles.
Abstract: A toolholder guide for punch blocks and turrets and the like comprising a toolholder bore carrying about its circumference longitudinal protruding wear strips preventing contact between the toolholder body and the wall of the bore. The wear strips are preferably of plastic and are secured into dovetailed longitudinal keyways broached into the wall of the bore. The innermost surfaces are broached to the a close clearing radius with the body of the toolholder so that the toolholder is accurately centered and guided for reciprocal motion within the bore. Preferably, the broaching operations are carried out using a broaching fixture which secures an actuating hydraulic cylinder directly to the punch block or turret using adjacent toolholder bores for attachment purposes.
