  • Patent number: 4511805
Abstract: The present invention relates to external combustion engines and more precisely to motors using the Stirling cycle designed to directly convert thermal energy into electrical energy. In accordance with the invention, this transformation is carried out inside a machine which is completely sealed, without a mechanical connection with the outside, in which the power piston drives the moveable part of an electrical generator. In accordance with one preferred embodiment, this electrical generator is a linear alternator. In accordance with a further original feature of the invention, control of the coupling between the displacing piston and the power piston is carried out by using electronic regulation.

  • Patent number: 4510498
Abstract: In an antenna device for a direction finder including an electrically conductive antenna plate of a configuration symmetrical around its center and disposed in parallel with a base plate with a predetermined distance maintained therebetween, a plurality of pairs of connecting portions are provided around the antenna plate so that one in each pair is provided opposite to the other with respect to the center. An electronic switch provided in the device transfers the connection in order that one in a pair thus transferred is grounded through a resistor having the characteristic impedance of the antenna plate while the other in the pair is connected to the receiver of the direction finder through a cable having the characteristic impedance.

  • Patent number: 4508598
Abstract: An electrochemical sensor capable of determining the partial pressure of various gases (e.g., CO, CO.sub.2, H.sub.2 S, alcohol vapors, hydrocarbons, NO.sub.x, etc.) and, optionally, substantially concurrently, but independently, oxygen content in gases and liquids. The sensor measures the amount of chemisorbent species formed either electrochemically by partial reduction (such as "Reduced-CO.sub.2 " in the case of CO.sub.2) or partial oxidation (in the case of alcohol) or non-electrochemically via specific adsorption (in the case of CO and hydrocarbons) on platinum or other metals. The charge required to oxidize this chemisorbed species is proportional to the amount of adsorbate on the electrode surface which is made a reproducible and reliable function of the partial pressure of the gas to be measured. By the proper selection of the sensor construction and electrical parameters, high sensitivity, fast response time, and high selectivity can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 4504221
Abstract: There is disclosed a tunnel oven which comprises a base, a guide provided on the base to guide the movement through the oven of wagons bearing product to be treated in the oven, side walls connected to the base and a roof connected to the upper ends of the side walls in order to define a treatment chamber. Each wagon comprises a base for supporting product to be treated, and wheels supporting the wagon base and engageable with the guide. The base of the oven includes a trough containing a liquid, and each wagon has a skirt depending from the wagon base which defines an under chamber below the wagon base and which has its lower edge continuously immersed in the liquid as the wagon moves through the treatment chamber. A train of wagons can thus pass through the oven, with the under chamber of each wagon sealed-off from the oven treatment chamber, whereby the wagon bases, or product carried thereby, effectively form a lower face of the treatment chamber.

The dispensing unit includes an outer cup member and an inner cup member, with the inner cup member having radial openings therethrough which are circumferentially spaced and at selected heights so as to determine the level of liquid within the inner cup member. The outer cup member is provided with an axial flow passage which may either be sealed by the inner cup member or which may have one of the openings in the inner cup member aligned therewith. The liquid dispensed into the inner cup member, if the inner cup member is accidentally overfilled, will seek the pre-set level so that the desired measured amount of the liquid which is to be dispensed will be retained within the inner cup member.
