Abstract: The invention relates to a process and apparatus for treating biogenic residues, particularly sludges, preferably in the area of a clarification plant. Biogenic residues with a variable dry substance are subjected to aerobic drying until an energy-independent thermal treatment can be carried out. During the drying process, evaporated water is discharged in an odor-free condition without releasing freely volatile components, the dried sludge is intermediately stored a number of times and then utilized in preferably a number of successive thermal treatment steps. The two-stage cleaning of the stream of waste gas includes a dust collection unit and an adsorption unit. The waste heat is recycled through a heat exchanger to generate heat and electricity.
Abstract: The present invention provides a tubular carton sleeve (3) comprising a first sheet (4) superimposed at least in part on a second sheet (6), said first sheet providing an inner wall (4) of said sleeve and said second sheet providing an outer wall (6) of said sleeve, first and second opposing ends of said first and second sheets being interengaged to provide a join, wherein at said join, the first end (16) of said inner wall is in a face to face relationship with the second end (10) of said inner wall and the first end (28) of said outer wall is in a face to face relationship with the second end (12) of said outer wall. A corresponding tubular carton is also disclosed.
Abstract: A cast tape or medical bandaging product formed from a resin-coated or impregnated fabric material that includes a knitted substrate having a combination of non-fiberglass high and low tenacity yarns such as polypropylene, polyester and elastomer. The polypropylene and polyester yarns have a high number of filaments, typically 48 to 90 filaments. This significantly improves the surface area of the fabric, that helps help to hold the curable resin onto the fabric and avoids pooling. This in turn improves lamination layer-to-layer and gives the substrate high strength.
Abstract: A reduced emissions work light includes a bulb with an elongated bulb tube. A handle is provided adjacent the bulb, and is adapted for being gripped by a user to manipulate the work light. An emissions containment housing is located within the handle. A ballast is located within the housing, and is operatively connected to the bulb. An emissions filter is located within the housing, and is operatively connected to the ballast. The filter and housing cooperate to reduce emissions generated by the work light.
Abstract: A secure life jacket container assembly includes a hollow container defining a storage volume which receives a life jacket in a packed condition. A cover is attached to the container with a tamper-evident sealing material. Removal of the cover causes an irreversible change in the sealing material which provides an indication that tampering has occurred.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the recordal of call results in a computer database in a predictive dialing application. Operators communicate call results back to the dialing controller using DTMF signals. The system uses a single computer to coordinate, administer and store the results of the campaign, and the need for computer terminals at the operator stations is eliminated, since any DTMF capable device could be used.
Abstract: A mounting end of an engine-driven accessory includes a longitudinally-extending neck having imperforate lateral surfaces defining a central bore. A flange having a mounting face is disposed at the end of neck. A plurality of generally radially extending drain passages are formed through the flange, which communicate with the central bore to form a fluid flow path between the bore and the exterior of the flange. A seal is provided for blocking selected ones of the drain passages while leaving the remainder of the drain passages open. The accessory may include a cover having an integral sealing rim which cooperates with a notch in a mating component to compress a portion of a resilient seal while simultaneously allowing for expansion of the remainder of the seal.
Abstract: A water supply failure protection valve is connected to hot and cold water supplies. The failure protection valve is responsive to the loss of cold water supply pressure to shut off all water flow. The failure protection valve is responsive to the loss of hot water supply pressure to permit cold water flow through both a cold water flow path and a hot water flow path so as to ensure a substantial flow of water to a downstream fixture. The supply failure protection valve may be integrated with a thermal mixing valve to provide water at a preselected temperature.

Abstract: A tempering valve is connected to hot and cold water supplies. The tempering valve has first and second thermal valves, each of which mixes hot and cold water flows to produce a tempered flow at a selected temperature. the mixed flow from the first thermal valve bypasses through the second thermal valve. A small valve assembly is responsive to the flow rate therethrough. At low flow rates, direct hot and cold water flow paths to the second thermal valve are blocked. At or above a selected transition flow rate, the small valve assembly opens to permit direct hot and cold water flows from hot and cold water inlets to the second thermal valve. The tempering valve may include a failure protection valve which shuts off all flow in case of a cold water supply failure.

Abstract: A mechanic's body support including first and second horizontally-oriented and spaced-apart base rails and first and second spaced-apart support rails. Each of the support rails has one end connected to a respective one of the first and second base rails. Each support rail also extends upwardly from and is in vertical alignment with the base rails for supporting a mechanic as he kneels in an elevated position over the engine compartment of a motor vehicle. A chest pad and a knee pad are mounted in spaced-apart relation between the support rails for securing the support rails in a fixed, spaced-apart relation, and for supporting the chest and knees of the mechanic while in the kneeling position, thus allowing the skeletal structure of the body to support the weight, rather than the back and leg muscles.

Abstract: A soft, durable, nonwoven fabric formed of hydroentangled synthetic polymer fibers in sheet form. The polymer fiber is surface embossed on at least one major surface with a predetermined pattern to provide a fiber sheet having enhanced dimensional stability. The fiber sheet is surface napped to soften the surface and disturb and make indistinct the surface embossed pattern. The pattern may preferably be a twill pattern, and the napping process is preferably a wire-napping process. The fabric can be constructed into blankets and numerous apparel items.
Abstract: A garment pressing station is adapted for pressing a finished garment. The pressing station includes a supporting frame and a vertical press board carried by the frame. A hand-held iron is suspended from the frame, and adapted for engaging and pressing the garment on the vertical press board.
Abstract: This invention relates to a baking oven (1), in particular a baking cabinet which has a baking chamber (2) in which the goods to be baked can be placed, a unit (3) for heating a heating medium which has an inlet (4) to receive the heating medium from the baking chamber (2) and an outlet (5) for dispensing the heated heating medium into the baking chamber (2) and a first flow channel (6) for conveying the heating medium between the baking chamber (2) and the inlet (4) and a second flow channel (7) for conveying the heating medium between the outlet (5) and the baking chamber (2). To permit simple regulation of the flow of heating medium, it is provided according to this invention that a throttle element (8, 9) is installed in the area of at least one of the flow channels (6, 7) so that the flow resistance in the respective flow channel (6, 7) can be varied.

Abstract: A rotary printing machine for the printing of synthetic cork stoppers of the type having a surface which is normally non-ink receptive. A Ferris wheel mechanism is provided, having a plurality of evenly spaced carriers mounted a predetermined radial distance from and parallel to the axis of rotation for the Ferris wheel mechanism, each carrier for rotatably holding a synthetic cork stopper. An indexing drive system controls incremental rotation of the Ferris wheel mechanism through a predetermined sequence of steps, and a cork feeder introduces a single synthetic cork stopper into each of the carriers as empty ones of the carriers are presented one-by-one at the cork feeder. A corona discharger treats the surface of each synthetic cork stopper prior to being printed with sufficient energy to alter the surface energy of the cork sufficiently to permit receptivity of printing ink. A rotary printing system rotatably imprints with ink the surface of each held synthetic cork stopper with an image.
