  • Patent number: 7115804
Abstract: An adjustable chanter for mounting in an outlet tube of a set of bagpipes includes a conventional reed and a conventional chanter pipe having a series of finger holes by which notes can be selected. The chanter pipe has a collar at an upper end which is screw fastened to a hub defining a sleeve arranged which extends from the upper end of the chanter pipe into the tube of the set of bagpipes as a friction fit within the tube such that the hub is supported in the tube for receiving air through the tube from the bag for passing through the pipe for playing the notes. The position of the mouth of the reed relative to the holes in the chanter pipe is adjusted by a shuttle which slides longitudinally in the hub moved by a manually operable shaft projecting from the hub to one side and manually rotatable so that the reed can be adjusted to change tuning without rotating the chanter pipe or removing the chanter pipe from the tube of the bag.

  • Patent number: 7114538
Abstract: A system of machining a workpiece with a router bit includes a base plate for mounting in a recess in a router table having a work surface over which the workpiece is to be moved. The router is mounted underneath the plate with the bit projecting through a bit opening. Two suction openings through the base plate to the work surface are connected to a common suction duct with the openings being spaced from the bit opening so as to draw material from the bit over the work surface along the workpiece. The end plate of the router is attached to the base plate by a plurality of rotatable disks each having a slot for receiving a fastening screw. When using a centering system, the holes in the end plate can be aligned with the respective slot in the respective disk and the router clamped in place at a centered location.

  • Patent number: 7104732
Abstract: A pile is installed in a drilled hole in the ground by inserting a tube extending to the bottom and providing on the bottom end of the tube a bottom shoe for compressing material at the bottom of the hole. A drive tool attached to the upper end of the tube applies downward compression and reciprocating rotation forces to the tube. A hammer by-passes the drive tool to apply impact forces to an upper surface of the shoe at the bottom of the tube acting to drive the shoe in downward movement so that the shoe slides downwardly relative to the tube. A radial surface of the shoe causes compressive forces on the material at the bottom of the hole and blades on the radial surface when reciprocated back and forth by the tube cause break up of the compressed material to allow repeated compression and significantly increased supported loads on a pile which is applied with the tube removed and is supported on the shoe.

  • Patent number: 7097123
Abstract: A bale processor on a wheeled vehicle has a hopper converging inwardly and downwardly to a lower disintegration area at which is located a flail roller rotatable about an axis extending generally along the hopper and including a drive roller or rollers in the hopper for driving rotation of the bale around an axis parallel to the flail roller axis. The processed material is discharged from the disintegration area at the flail roller through an opening in one side wall of the hopper to form a row along that side of the vehicle. A container for particulate material, such as grain, to be added to and mixed with the processed material is carried at the side wall opposite the discharge opening and has an auger tube extending from the container to the hopper at a height below the flail roller and mid way along the side wall so as to introduce the grain into the processed material to mix therewith in the disintegration area.

  • Patent number: 7093380
Abstract: An ATV has an accessory mounted at a front end providing a working tool, such as a blade, brush or snow blower, by a frame which extends underneath the ATV from a hitch coupling at the rear to a mounting plate which is clamped up under the belly pan of the ATV by a pair of straps at the front. The plate can be adjusted in height and position along the frame and can tilt front to rear to accommodate different makes of machine. The tilting can accommodate tilting of the frame if it is carried at the rear on wheels and floating relative to the hitch. The working tool is mounted on a stub frame portion pivotal upwardly and downwardly at the front of the frame. The working accessory can be adjusted side to side to change angle by a manually operable screw which drives a gear on the tool.

  • Patent number: 7092586
Abstract: A method and system of intrusion detection system for a multimode fiber optic cable. A light signal is launched into the cable fiber to establish a narrow spectral width, under-filled non-uniform mode field power distribution in the cable. A small portion of the higher order signal modes arriving at the remote end of the cable is sampled by use of a coupler and monitored for transient changes in the mode field power distribution. The power distribution changes with physical disturbance of the cable. When those changes are detected as being characteristic of fiber intrusion, the system activates an alarm. This method can sense and alarm any attempt to access the optical fibers in a fiber optic communication cable. In preferred embodiments, the active signal of a multimode optical fiber is monitored for both signal degradation and transient power disturbance patterns that could indicate fiber damage or physical intrusion.

  • Patent number: 7084676
Abstract: The present invention provides a method to improve the frequency resolution and phase noise of a synthesized RF signal. It also results in the superior characteristics of instantaneous frequency changeability, wide frequency setting ability, and fully digital ASIC implementation ability. The synthesized RF signal is generated from a higher reference frequency using a variable pulse stretching technique. The amount of the pulse stretch in each cycle is controlled by a phase increment value and is implemented using programmable delay lines. Pulse stretching is extended beyond one cycle by pulse swallowing, allowing the generation of an RF signal from DC up to the input reference clock signal frequency.

  • Patent number: 7077220
Abstract: A hydrostatic agricultural tractor has front ground wheels mounted on the frame at fixed angles parallel to each other and parallel to a center line of the frame and rear ground wheels mounted on a respective castor, with each of the front ground wheels being driven by a respective drive motor which allows variable speed in both the first and second directions such that steering of the tractor is effected by a differential in speed between the front wheels with the rear wheels following the steering in a castoring action. A pair of damper cylinders is provided each connected between a bracket on a rear axle of the frame and a lever in the castor plane of the castor so as to provide a damping force tending to restrict rotation of the respective second wheel about the respective vertical pivot axis with the damping force at a maximum value when the rear wheels are parallel to the center line in either the forward or reverse directions.
