Abstract: A vehicle arranged for raising and lowering the frame relative to the ground wheels for loading comprises a vehicle frame with a hitch at a forward end of the frame and at least two ground wheels for supporting the frame for movement across the ground. Each wheel has a mounting assembly providing driven rotation of a hub carrying the wheel spindle from a raised height of the wheel to a lower locked position. The hub is driven by a hydraulic motor driving a pinion. A fender is mounted on the vehicle frame for covering the wheel during transport, the fender including two interlocking portions thereof which are spring mounted so as to be movable relative to the wheel to accommodate the movement of the wheel to the raised position. The frame has a rear portion which is movable rearwardly to adjust the position of the load and the rear portion of the fender can be attached to the rear frame portion so as to be moved away from the wheel with movement thereof.

  • Patent number: 6748901
Abstract: An animal in a pen is fed by a drop tube from a raised supply system to a position at or adjacent the floor or a trough at the floor. A spout at the bottom of the drop tube extends at an angle to the tube for discharging the feed in a direction to one side of the drop tube depending upon an angular orientation of the drop tube about a vertical axis of the drop tube. A clamp for attaching the drop tube to the wall of the pen includes co-operating indexing adjustment components including a stud mounted on the tube and grooves in the top surface of the clamping band which can be adjusted to provide a plurality of indexed angular orientations of the tube about the axis for locating the direction of discharge of the spout at specific indexed locations relative to the trough.

  • Patent number: 6743126
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for removing a blade from a hockey stick. The strap includes first and second loops each having an anchored end connected to a respective slide aperture and a constricting end slidably received through the respective slide aperture for constricting the loop when pulled. The constricting end of the first loop is anchored to the second loop and the slide apertures are fixed relative to one another whereby pulling the constricting end of the second loop constricts the second loop thereby pulling on the constricting end of the first loop to simultaneously constrict the first loop. The method includes inserting the blade through the first and second loops respectively, heating the glue between the blade and the shaft and pulling the constricting end of the second loop away from the shaft so as to constrict the loops about the blade and pull the blade from the shaft.

  • Patent number: 6733004
Abstract: Foam for suppressing fires is formed by mixing together a constant stream of compressed air and water from a pump at a controlled rate with a quantity of a foaming agent from a foaming agent supply proportional to the rate of flow of water so as to be incorporated therein. An agitator mixes the water and the foaming agent into the stream of compressed air to generate the foam. The rate of flow of the water is controlled by a continuously variable valve member driven between five set positions by an electronically controlled motor including a fully open position, in which a maximum flow rate of the water is supplied to the mixer with the proportional quantity of a foaming agent, a fully closed position, in which the flow of water and the flow of a foaming agent from the foaming agent supply are halted, and at least three intermediate positions of different foam characteristics.

  • Patent number: 6729652
Abstract: A mud flap is provided for a vehicle which comprises a panel member of rubber having a top mounting end for securement within the wheel well of a vehicle, a bottom free end having a metallic accent plate supported thereon and respective inner and outer sides extending between the ends of the panel member. Means are provided to protect the metallic accent plate from being dented by rocks thrown onto the mud flap from between a pair of dual wheels for which the mud flap is intended to be used. In one embodiment, stiffener members are provided to prevent denting of an accent plate which extends fully across the panel member. In another embodiment, the accent plate is protected from denting by providing a flexible central portion in the mud flap in alignment with the mating surfaces of the dual wheels to allow the mud flap and accent plates supported thereon to return to an unflexed and unbent position after a rock has been thrown against the mud flap.

  • Patent number: 6720678
Abstract: The invention is an electronic device used to prevent electrical shock to users of arc welding equipment. The device utilizes the electrical power supplied by the welder, it has no internal power supply. The unit is designed with a high amperage SCR, connected between the welder and either the electrode holder or the work-piece. A control circuit is situated in parallel with the SCR and is used to control the SCR. The control circuit constantly monitors the status of the electrode. A high resistance between the electrode and the work-piece causes the unit to revert to an off condition preventing electrical power from reaching the electrode. Upon striking the electrode against the work-piece, the control circuit detects the internal voltage drop that occurs within the control circuit and then outputs an appropriate signal to cause the unit to switch to an on condition. The predetermined resistance value is set to 40 ohms or less.

  • Patent number: 6714838
Abstract: The input of information into the control unit of a lottery ticket dispensing machine, for filling of dispensing containers of the machine with different game tickets, defining a game number for a game provided on the tickets, a price of the ticket, a total number of the tickets making up the quantity of tickets and a length of the tickets from a leading edge of each ticket to a trailing edge thereof is simplified so as to avoid requiring the service person to enter the information on a key pad as numerical values. This is effected by providing the information in machine readable form on the tickets themselves or on a game set up card associated with the tickets so that the information can be scanned into the control unit by a reader. Alternatively, the information can be provided in a simplified coded form for simple input by the service person into a key pad of the control unit.

  • Patent number: 6702036
Abstract: A cultivator shovel for mounting on one of the shanks of a conventional agricultural cultivator. The shovel includes a shank mount in the form of a channel for receiving the shank therein. A shovel body is supported on a lower end of the shank mount and includes a leading edge extending rearwardly and outwardly from opposing sides of a forward apex to respective rearward free ends of the shovel body. A pair of upright end plates are mounted on the shovel body adjacent the respective rearward free ends. The end plates prevent deflection of weeds about the free ends of the shovel body when the shovel is used for weeding, thus forcing the weeds to be broken on the leading edge of the shovel body or on the end plates for more effective weeding using a cultivator. Furthermore, soil disturbance is increased dramatically using the end plates, and as a result, shallow rooted weeds such as millet die.
