Abstract: A system and method is described herein that includes a software-based functionality to assess the relationship between reliability, operational, maintenance and plant betterment activities and to determine the frontier of efficient spending and other measures of performance to achieve a level of reliability that is based on data from units of similar design and performance.
Abstract: A medium supplying apparatus is assembled to an image forming apparatus. A medium tray supports a medium thereon, and is pivotal about a first axis and extends from the first axis. The medium tray has a guide path that extends in the first radial direction. A feeder frame has a pickup roller rotatablly mounted to the feeder frame, and is pivotal about a second axis substantially parallel to the first axis. The medium tray and the feeder frame are drivingly coupled via a link. When the medium tray pivots to its open position or closed position, the link transmits the motion of the medium tray to the feeder frame in such a way that the feeder frame drivingly pivots to its open position or closed position.
Abstract: This invention is related to equipment and techniques for fast neutron activation analysis of explosives and /or other warfare agent. The techniques are based on 14 MeV fast neutrons from D-T fusion reaction, the kinematics of the nuclear reaction and fast coincidence between ?-particles of the D-T reaction and ?-quanta from fast neutron induced reactions. A fast neutron generator with effective target cooling and different operation modes provides high neutron yield, long life, and simple maintenance of the equipment and good geometric resolution of the directional neutron beam. High positional resolution of the directionally scanning neutron beam, high time resolution of the coincidence and high neutron yield provide the real time robust screen of explosives with high speed and/or high sensitivity, flexibility for big and small items and overall high probability of detection (PD) and low probability of false alarms (PFA). The remote video scan device also has zooming capability to change solid angle.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of generating a second peak wavelength of reflected light from a cholesteric liquid crystal having a first peak wavelength of reflected light comprising by exposing or conditioning the cholesteric liquid crystal to a high temperature or a high humidity. The invention also relates to an electrically modulated imaging layer and a display containing a liquid crystal material that has conditioned and unconditioned forms, wherein the unconditioned form of liquid crystal material reflects a first wavelength of light and wherein the conditioned form of liquid crystal material reflects a second wavelength of light.

Abstract: An apparatus utilizes optical reflectivity (REF) to measure concentrations in liquids. The REF optical system is packaged in a compact and cost-effective form factor. An electronic circuit drives the optical system. The miniaturized REF sensor is situated in an optical-fluidic cell or an optical-fluidic manifold with an optical window in contact with the liquid. Changes in a total internal reflection (TIR) signal are sensitive to temperature and concentration of the liquid. These changes in the TIR signal are used to accurately determine the concentration in the liquid. The liquids may be either static or dynamic.

Abstract: A non-volatile memory array includes a semiconductor substrate having a main surface, a first source/drain region and a second source/drain region. Abstract: A method of operating on a plurality of non-volatile multi-level memory cells is disclosed. The memory cells have at least a first, second, third and fourth program level. Each of program levels corresponds to a different binary state and has a voltage threshold distribution. Abstract: An inspection system provides for inspection of cargo containers. A scanning tunnel has an entrance and an exit, a plurality of scanning entrance doors, each having an open position and a closed position, at least one of the plurality of scanning entrance doors interior to the scanning tunnel; a plurality of scanning exit doors, each having an open position and a closed position, at least one of the plurality of scanning exit doors interior to the scanning tunnel. A scanner is adapted to scan the contents of a container inside the scanning tunnel when at least one of the plurality of scanning entrance doors is in the closed position and at least one of the plurality of scanning exit doors is in the closed position. A carrier carries the container through the tunnel.
