Patent number: 4875840Abstract: A scroll-type hermetic compressor is disclosed including within a hermetically sealed housing a fixed scroll member, an orbiting scroll member, a main bearing frame member, and a crankshaft. An oil sump is located in a discharge pressure chamber in the housing. The crankshaft is journalled by bearings in the frame member and the orbiting scroll member. A centrifugal oil pump supplies lubricating oil from the sump to the bearings through an axial passageway in the crankshaft. A vent allows the pumped oil to return to the sump to reduce leakage of oil and refrigerant into regions at suction pressure.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1988Date of Patent: October 24, 1989Assignee: Tecumseh Products CompanyInventors: William C. Patent number: 4875838Abstract: A scroll-type hermetic compressor is disclosed including within a hermetically sealed housing a fixed scroll member, an orbiting scroll member, a main bearing frame member, and a crankshaft. An oil sump is located in a discharge pressure chamber in the housing. The frame member and fixed scroll member define a suction pressure chamber in which the orbiting scroll member is disposed. The crankshaft includes a plate portion disposed between the orbiting scroll member and a thrust surface of the frame. Oil chambers are disposed within respective interfaces between the orbiting scroll member bottom surface and the plate portion top surface, and the plate portion bottom surface and the frame thrust surface. Oil from the oil sump is supplied to the oil chambers. Either a hydrodynamic oil seal or an annular seal element is provided in each interface radially outwardly from the oil chamber.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1988Date of Patent: October 24, 1989Assignee: Tecumseh Products CompanyInventor: Hubert Richardson, Jr.

Patent number: 4867847Abstract: Expanding body which is essentially designed as a hollow beam and, viewed in the cross-section, composed of several flexible walls. At least one of these walls has a higher expandability than the other walls. The internal chamber of the expanding body can be pressurized by a variable fluid pressure. On the use of such an expanding body in a paper machine headbox a wall with a relatively low expandability forms the downstream end piece of a flow guide wall. Its position, which determines the clear width of the discharge opening, is alterable by varying the internal pressure.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1988Date of Patent: September 19, 1989Assignee: J.M. Patent number: 4852249Abstract: A process and device for the length trimming of cables from a cable supply for the processing of cable ends. The cable front end is inserted by a cable feed (20, 22) in a guide channel whose rear section is located in a swivel part (28). As the cable front end impinges on a stop (102) on the swivel part (28), said swivel part swings beyond a dead center which is defined by a spring (40) which is attached eccentrically, whereafter the swivel part (8) is swung around by the spring (40) essentially 180.degree. so that the cable front end bearing on the stop (102) points opposite to the feed direction. The cable loop formed is then enlarged to the desired length by continued cable feeding, whereafter the cable rear end is severed by a knife (82). By lowering the cable, the cable ends are transferred, accurately positioned, to holders (56) by means of which they can be transported to the processing stations.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1987Date of Patent: August 1, 1989Assignee: Statomat-Globe Maschinenfabrik GmbHInventors: Willi Muskulus, Helmut Kolodziej, Helmut Nitsch
