  • Patent number: 4846143
Abstract: A gas power burner having a burner tube closed at one end and a venturi tube disposed within the burner tube with the mouth portion of the venturi tube disposed toward the closed end of the burner tube. The burner tube is provided with an air aperture in a side thereof at a position along the burner tube intermediate the mouth portion and the burner head portion of the venturi tube. A blower blows air into the air aperture of the burner tube where the air divides into a first pathway traveling toward the closed end of the burner tube and into the mouth of the venturi tube and also traveling in a second pathway toward the open end of the burner tube. The air traveling in the primary and secondary pathways provides combustion air for a flame burning at a burner head portion of the venturi located within the outer burner tube.

  • Patent number: 4846635
Abstract: A hermetic compressor assembly is disclosed including a compressor mechanism and an electric drive motor within a hermetically sealed housing. The electric motor includes a rotatable rotor and a stator. In one disclosed embodiment, the stator is friction fit within the housing and a rotor is press fit over a crankshaft journalled in a crankcase of the compressor mechanism. The crankcase is selectively positioned within the housing and mounted thereto by means of mounting pins. In another disclosed embodiment, the motor is mounted to the compressor mechanism and the compressor crankcase is axially supported in the housing. A mounting pin is used to prevent rotation of the compressor mechanism within the housing caused by torque forces produced by dynamic operation of the motor. The disclosed mounting pins are received within holes in the crankcase and extend radially outwardly through oversized apertures in the housing. The pins are selectively positioned in the apertures prior to welding.

  • Patent number: 4842492
Abstract: A hermetically sealed scotch yoke compressor assembly is disclosed wherein a crankcase includes annular channels formed on the top and bottom surfaces thereof defining muffling chambers. Gas refrigerant compressed within radially disposed cylinders into cylinder head covers is channeled into the upper annular muffler chamber and them through passages extending through the crankcase into the lower muffling chamber. An annular cover plate for covering the bottom annular channel is attached to the crankcase at its radially inner extreme and is biased against the crankcase at its radially outer extreme. Spacers between the cover plate and the crankcase provide an annular discharge opening directing discharge gas onto the motor windings.

  • Patent number: 4840547
Abstract: A protective cap for the hermetic terminal of a hermetic compressor includes a cup-shaped plastic member for attaching to and covering the hermetic terminal during manufacturing, shipping, and storage of the compressor, i.e., whenever the hermetic terminal would not otherwise be connected to an external source of power. The cap contactingly engages the base portion and conducting pins of the hermetic terminal. The protective cap includes a cylindrical stud portion arranged coaxially within an outer cylindrical wall portion of the cup-shaped member. The stud portion slip fits radially inwardly of the circularly arranged conductor pins of the hermetic terminal. A tapered end facilitates guided insertion of the stud portion within the conductor pins prior to engagement of the cap with the hermetic terminal base portion.

  • Patent number: 4838769
Abstract: A compressor assembly is disclosed including a compressor mechanism mounted within a hermetically sealed housing. The compressor mechanism includes a crankcase having a suction inlet opening providing direct communication into a suction cavity within the crankcase. The compressor mechanism is located in an upper chamber of the housing and a motor is located in a lower chamber, the entire interior of the housing being at discharge pressure. Suction gas is isolated from the motor so that heat from the motor does not increase the temperature of the suction gas. The discharge tube is positioned in the lower chamber so that discharge gas flows over the motor to cool it, thereby improving efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4835849
Abstract: A pressure relief valve for a hermetically sealed reciprocating piston compressor is made in which a bore in a compressor cylinder head defines the valve body. Valve components are introduced into the bore through a valve opening on the bottom surface of the cylinder head. A discharge pressure chamber in the cylinder head also has a discharge pressure opening on the bottom surface. A path is provided between the valve opening and the discharge pressure opening, when the compressor is assembled, by means of a duct in a valve plate interposed between the cylinder head and a compressor crankcase. Also disclosed is a method for assembling the pressure relief valve in a cylinder head, whereby the valve components are temporarily retained within the bore by a washer-shaped soft metal valve seat that is compressed and expanded into an annular undercut or recess in the bore located adjacent to the bottom surface of the cylinder head.

  • Patent number: 4836895
Abstract: A headbox for dispensing a machine-width suspension flow from a machine-width nozzle type discharge channel which is defined by two machine-width flow control walls converging on each other. Located on the downstream end is a machine-width discharge gap for the flow of suspension. One of the two flow control walls is for fine adjustment of the discharge gap width and is equipped with an elastically flexible wall section which extends across the machine width. This wall section is equipped with a number of areal heating elements in a succession across the machine width, with which material layers having different coefficients of heat expansion may be coordinated. By appropriate heating of individual heating elements it is possible to achieve a local deformation of the flexible wall section and thus a local change of the discharge gap width and a correction of the basis weight cross profile of the paper web produced.

  • Patent number: 4835931
Abstract: An arrangement for a wall, for example, for dividing up a room or for constructing an exhibition stand or a reception kiosk, etc. The arrangement comprises a number of preferably individually executed, mutually interchangeable panel sheets. These are so arranged as to be secured by means of connecting elements designed to engage on the opposing edges of adjacent panel sheets. Characteristic features of the invention are that the panel sheets are executed along at least two opposing edges with longitudinal channels, and that the aforementioned connecting elements, which are at least two in number on the edge of each panel sheet, are so arranged as to connect the panel sheets with a space relative to one another and are executed with internal opposing grooves. When the connecting elements are installed between the two panel sheets, the grooves will coincide with the channels, so that a strip-shaped decorative element can be inserted in the channels and the grooves and can occupy said space.

  • Patent number: 4834018
Abstract: A coating device where the pressurized coating space formed between the doctor element and the material web and/or the counter roll carrying it is defined by a regulating plate on the inlet side relative to the material web. A guide device is so arranged in the coating space that coating mixture will circulate around it on all sides in one direction of rotation. The guide device generally leaves only relatively narrow flow channels open in the coating chamber so that harmful turbulent flows are extensively avoided which through pulsating air inclusions might lead to defects in the applied coating.

  • Patent number: 4834627
Abstract: A direct suction hermetic compressor assembly is disclosed including a hermetically sealed housing having enclosed therein a compressor mechanism discharging compressed gas refrigerant into the interior of the housing, thereby creating a high pressure housing. The compressor mechanism includes a crankcase defining a suction cavity into which low pressure suction gas is directly introduced. Bearings in the crankcase communicate between the housing interior and the suction cavity, and rotatably support a crankshaft. Annular seals received within grooves in the crankshaft bear against the bearings and are actuated and lubricated by oil fed from within the grooves to prevent high to low pressure gas leakage and to facilitate bearing lubrication. A scotch yoke mechanism operably couples a plurality of radially disposed pistons to a crankshaft eccentric portion within the suction cavity. Oil ducts open onto the loaded surface of the eccentric to limit oil leakage into the suction cavity.

  • Patent number: 4828417
Abstract: A printer housing which can be adapted for both cut sheet printing paper and continuous printing paper without replacing any of its paper guide members with any external paper guide members. The printer housing comprises a first cover which is pivotably supported at its front end and a second cover which is povoted to the first cover at its middle part and can cover an opening in the upper face of the printer housing main body by complementing the first cover. When the second cover is thus covering the upper opening of the printer housing main body in cooperation with the first cover, the printer housing is adapted for continuous printing paper.
