  • Patent number: 4041276
Abstract: An electric fluid heating device for heating comparatively small amounts of a fluid mdium, particularly for dental purposes, is characterized in that an operable controllable semiconductor, such as a transistor, is used as the heating element. The fluid heating device includes a metallic casing provided with a fluid heating chamber having a fluid inlet and outlet. The semiconductor is seated in a recess in the casing in heat exchange relation with the chamber. A temperature responsive control circuit including a PTC resistor in heat exchange relationship with the chamber is provided for regulating the current flowing through the semiconductor and thus the heat output thereof. The casing is made in two parts to permit a damaged smiconductor to be easily removed and replaced.

  • Patent number: 4038951
Abstract: Device for limiting the speed of internal-combustion engines, particularly uitable for small and medium-size, two-stroke engines which operate at rather high revolutions, such as between 2000 and 10000 rpm. Two exemplary embodiments are disclosed. In both, an ignition coil receives a discharge voltage from a capacitor energized by a charging coil, a rectifier being coupled to the output of the charging coil, and a separate tripping coil used in the circuit arrangement, which latter is displaced in phase with respect to the charging coil. A semiconductor switch, preferably a thyristor with steep electrical characteristics, is connected to the capacitor and has its switching gate connected to the tripping coil, the conductive phase of the switch being so controlled by the tripping coil that the charging process of the capacitor is at least partly inhibited when a predetermined maximum engine speed is attained or exceeded.

  • Patent number: 4031883
Abstract: Multiple monopolar electrical contacts are applied to the scalp or body, using other points on the body as reference and ground. The brain muscle or other bioelectric waves conducted from each contact, relative to the reference point, are amplified, filtered, and instantaneously analyzed to produce a signal which may be perceived by the person or persons generating the bioelectric waves. This sensory feedback signal simultaneously may communicate to the generating party or parties the ongoing fluctuations in frequency, amplitude, and phase unity among two or more biological rhythms occuring within an individual, couple, or group of persons.
