  • Patent number: 8275041
Abstract: Two-stage interpolation can be provided for frame prediction samples with quarter-pixel and finer accuracy. All samples of quarter-pixel and finer accuracy can use either half or full/integer-pixels in a bi-linear interpolation to allow for the use of higher accuracy motion vectors, such as one-eighth-pixel accuracy motion vectors. The motion vectors can be restricted in a manner such that they are not allowed to point to every possible sub-pixel sample on a sub-pixel grid, but rather a subset of those sub-pixel samples. In addition, the same full/integer and half-pixel samples that can be used to obtain a quarter-pixel sample can also be used to obtain a one-eighth-pixel sample that the quarter-pixel sample is connected to.

  • Patent number: 8272832
Abstract: A centrifugal compressor for compressing a fluid comprises a compressor wheel having a plurality of circumferentially spaced blades, and a compressor housing in which the compressor wheel is mounted. The compressor housing includes an inlet duct through which the fluid enters in an axial direction and is led by the inlet duct into the compressor wheel, and an inner surface located radially adjacent the tips of the blades. A bleed port is defined in the inner surface of the compressor housing at a location intermediate the leading and trailing edges of the blades, for bleeding off a bleed portion of the fluid, the bleed port leading to a recirculation flow channel that feeds the bleed portion back into the inlet duct. Highly cambered vanes are disposed in the recirculation flow channel for turning the bleed portion to take out and in some cases reverse the swirl in the bleed portion.

  • Patent number: 8272111
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for needling a fibrous web having at least one needle bar. The needle bar carries a needle board on the bottom thereof having a plurality of needles, the needle bar being guided by means of a moveably mounted bar carrier. The bar carrier is driven by a vertical drive in an oscillating manner in up and down movements. For straight guidance of the bar carrier, a guiding device is provided, which has at least one rocker held at the end by a rotary bearing of a machine frame. In order to obtain the straightest possible guide path in the bar carrier, according to the invention the opposite end of the rocker and the bar carrier are connected by a plurality of members of a coupling kinematic mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8275051
Abstract: A system and method provides a first integrity check code that can be calculated at an encoder and then sent to a decoder as a supplemental enhancement information message. The decoder can then calculate a second integrity check code over the actual received network abstraction layer units. This second integrity check code can be compared with the encoder-generated first integrity check code sent via the supplemental enhancement information message to indicate if in fact all of the transmitted NAL units from which the integrity check code was generated have been received without changes in their content. In addition, an error tracking algorithm is provided that can be run at either the encoder or the decoder in order to determine if the network abstraction layer units are correct in content at the decoder level. Therefore, pictures that are sent as just intra coded frames and pictures that are sent as just inter coded frames can both be checked for errors.

  • Patent number: 8272510
Abstract: An inflatable structure generally includes a valve formed between a pair of edge portions and an internal edge portion formed of a flexible film such that an enclosed chamber of the inflatable structure substantially envelops the internal edge portion. The valve and remainder of the inflatable structure can be formed from a single piece of flexible film using a method of manufacturing an inflatable structure from a continuous web of flexible film. A corresponding inflation device fills the inflatable structure with air and may do so without requiring heat sealing or contact between the inflatable structure and outlet of the inflation device. The inflation device may include a mechanical registration device which can engage an optional locator aperture in the inflatable structure such as to assist in temporarily locating the outlet of the source of pressurized air proximate to the valve in the inflatable structure.

  • Patent number: RE43691
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of a C1 inhibitor (C1INH) with shorter half-life than plasma-derived C1INH for the preparation of a medicament for the transient treatment of an individual. It relates to both therapeutic and prophylactic treatment. The method of the invention allows for the administration of C1INH at certain therapeutic levels for a concise pre-determined time span. Pharmaceutical compositions based on C1INH with shorter half-lives may be used both in situations where transient treatment is merely and advantage. The advantage of the use according to the invention is that an individual is not exposed to C1INH for longer than required, since the levels of the C1INH more rapidly subsides after administration has stopped. In contrast, levels of plasma-derived C1INH would remain elevated for a prolonged period of time.
