Patent number: 4148023Abstract: An emergency exit indicator that will signal the location of an emergency exit by a high intensity smoke piercing light and audible alarm, becoming activated automatically when smoke reaches a predetermined level. This indicator is particularly useful in movie theatres, night clubs and similar places where it is necessary to utilize subdued exit lights that will not be distracting. In cases of emergency involving smoke, the emergency exit indicator of this invention becomes activated automatically, thereby emitting a powerful beam of light capable of piercing through substantial distances of dense smoke. However, when the indicator is not activated it will not cause a distraction.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1977Date of Patent: April 3, 1979Assignee: E.D.I. Safety Devices, Inc.Inventor: Barry Elkin

Patent number: 4122686Abstract: To defrost a selected evaporator, in a system including at least two evaporators, the system condenser is isolated from the compressor and the selected evaporator receives hot, compressed refrigerant vapor directly from the compressor. The liquid refrigerant formed in the defrosting evaporator flows to the other evaporators in the system to permit them to continue in the refrigeration mode. A pressure regulated control system is provided which causes excess liquid refrigerant in the defrosted evaporator to be pumped out of that evaporator before the evaporator is reconnected to the compressor suction line. In a preferred embodiment, each evaporator includes a coil having a plurality of circuits connected between its inlet and outlet and each circuit is disposed in a horizontal plane at a different elevation from any of the other circuits.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1977Date of Patent: October 31, 1978Assignee: Gulf & Western Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Herbert S. Patent number: 4109535Abstract: A pressure responsive diaphragm has on its periphery axially spaced annular projections to define a peripheral annular groove therebetween which receives an annular projection at the coupling surface of a coupling flange. The diaphragm is thus releasably retained on the coupling flange and encloses a recess formed in the flange which recess communicates with the instrument. A compressible sealing ring for the recess within the flange is positioned on the peripheral surface of an annular projection of the diaphragm. The diaphragm may also be provided with an axially extending annular projection which is received in a corresponding axially opening groove formed in the coupling flange. A compressible sealing O-ring may be positioned within this axially opening groove radially outwardly of the diaphragm projection or may be positioned on the peripheral edge of the second annular projection of the diaphragm and arranged so that the O-ring contacts two or three metal walls of the coupling flange.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1976Date of Patent: August 29, 1978Assignee: Ametek, Inc.Inventors: Charles J.
