Abstract: Photovoltaic cell comprises thin film cadmium telluride in ohmic contact with a conductive substrate, preferbaly comprising a cadmium surface, through a cadmium-rich layer at the interface with the substrate. The cell further includes a rectifying barrier layer which may be a Schottky barrier. The film is electrodeposited on the substrate surface and the substrate materials and electrodeposition conditions are controlled so as to produce a substantially stoichiometric deposit. Preferably, the film or cell is subsequently treated to enhance its efficiency.

Abstract: A mould for producing concrete mouldings having a frame and a plurality of moulding boxes therein with the moulding boxes removably fastened directly to the bottom end faces of the frame.
Abstract: A filtration assembly including a perforate basket, screen and filtration media is provided with bands of complementary releasable attachment means along mating surfaces. The complementary releasable attachment means permit the backing screen and filtration media to be installed in and removed from the perforate basket simply without tools, while retaining the backing screen and filtration media in proper alignment with the perforate basket during the filtration process.

Abstract: In a pile driver the sharp force loading on a pile at the moment of impact by a ram is absorbed by a pile driver cushion. The cushion includes a pad formed from a flexible strip of compressed knitted wire mesh wound in a flat spiral and further constructed to maintain its integrity during use and handling.
Abstract: A communications system and network wherein communications links between subscribers are established by retrodirective oscillating loops between each subscriber and a node station. Provision is also made for establishment of links between nodes so that remotely located subscribers can communicate. Information is transmitted between subscribers by using a mixing process in the node whereby information transmitted from one subscriber to the node is transferred at the node to a carrier signal transmitted between the node and another subscriber.
Abstract: A garment tag reading system which includes a Kimball tag reader and a data processing unit is described for reading and decoding information encoded on a garment tag. An interface unit is used to permit direct communication between the tag reader, which has a memory for storing the coded information read from the garment tag, and the data processing unit. The interface unit includes a column driver having a plurality of low voltage amplifiers which provide amplified output voltages in response to voltage-level increases caused by the programmed operation of the data processing unit. The output voltages are serially applied to the tag reader memory for interrogating the memory to retrieve the coded information. The information from the tag reader memory is received by a data input/output circuit in the interface unit in the form of decimal coded output voltages and is subsequently entered into the data processing unit for decoding into a readable format.
Abstract: An electronic cabinet having a conductive frame and a conductive removable access panel or door is grounded by a ground button. The ground button comprises a donut-shaped core of resilient material supported by a mounting plate. A layer of knitted-metal wire mesh at least partially surrounds the exterior of the core and the mounting plate. The button is constructed to be mounted to one surface of the cabinet with the layer of knitted-metal wire mesh in contact therewith. When the access panel or door is closed, the button is deformed between the frame and access panel or door to provide a positive conductive leak path therebetween.
Abstract: A lid assembly includes an integral heat fusible layer defining a hermetic sealing area provided around the periphery of a lid for hermetic sealing semiconductor chips in a flat pack. The integral heat fusible layer includes a flowed solderable layer in the hermetic sealing area.
Abstract: The invention relates to an electrochromic display device (referred to as ECD hereinafter) which is stably workable for a long period and shows a long cycle life. The ECD of the invention has its feature in using a counter electrode which comprises a collector composed of a valve effect having metal such as titanium, tantalum, aluminum and the like, the metal being hardly soluble in an electrolyte, and an active material on the said collector and electrically connected to the said collector, the active material being selected from reductant of tungsten oxide, iron berlinate and the like and being able to carry out a reversible oxidation reaction at a lower potential than that at which the collector carries out an oxidation reaction.
