  • Patent number: 8028502
Abstract: A method of forming and filling the pouch includes the steps of forming each panel and joining two panels by sealing together the side edges and lower edge. The method also includes the steps of opening the pouch and filling the pouch with the product. The method further includes the steps of closing the filled pouch by forming a first closing seal extending along an upper edge of the pouch a predetermined length from the upper edge, such that there is no dead space inside the pouch between the product and the first closing seal, and forming a second seal between the first closing seal and the upper edge thereby trapping the product between the first closing seal and the second closing seal, and finishing the pouch.

  • Patent number: 8025043
Abstract: The engine operational region in which the cylinder deactivation operation is performed in the cylinder deactivation control is switched between the cylinder deactivation region AP1 and the cylinder deactivation region AP2 depending on whether a variable valve timing mechanism is in an operation allowed state and control of the valve timing of an intake valve is being performed, or the variable valve timing mechanism is in an operation inhibited state and the control of the valve timing of the intake valve is stopped. In this way, depending on whether the variable valve timing mechanism is in the operation allowed state or in the operation inhibited state, the engine operational region in which the cylinder deactivation operation is performed can be set so that the engine operational region is made suitable for each of these state.

  • Patent number: 8021479
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method for producing clinker from raw cement material. The raw cement material is preheated in a preheater, is precalcined in a calcining apparatus, is completely burned in a sintering furnace, and is finally cooled in a cooler. Tertiary air of the cooler is fed to the calcining apparatus while eliminated dust is thermally treated in a dust burning reactor with the aid of combustion air and fuel. At least some of the tertiary air is fed to the dust burning reactor as combustion air while the dust that is to be treated and the combustion air penetrate the dust burning reactor in the same direction of flow.

  • Patent number: RE42709
Abstract: An audio/video production system is implemented on a PC-based platform, preferably utilizing various forms of removable magnetic, optical, or magneto-optical storage media. Specially modified cameras or other sources provide digitally data-compressed audio and video program materials in two formats, a first format having a higher data-compression ratio and intended for use in off-line systems to develop edit decision lists, and a second format having a lower data-compression ratio and intended for use in on-line editing and to produce the final representations of the programs. Off-line editing decisions may thus be developed on a PC using removable storage media, and final representations of the programs may be produced on-line in accordance with stationary-head or rotary-head digital-tape-based formats, such as DAT, 6-mm or 8-mm tapes. In an alternative embodiment, automatic and unattended editing, or extended program playback of more than 40 hours duration of digital video, is available.

  • Patent number: RE42767
Abstract: An adjustable control pedal apparatus is used in a motor vehicle. The pedal apparatus includes a pedal assembly mounted to a support bracket mounted to the vehicle by a pivot shaft. The pivot shaft contains a worm gear. The pedal assembly includes a pedal arm pivotally mounted to an inner arm. A jack screw extends between the inner arm and pedal arm. The jack screw has a pinion portion on one end which is driven by the worm gear of the pivot shaft. A threaded portion of the jack screw is threadably received in a slide block mounted to the pedal arm. Rotation of the pivot shaft by a motor correspondingly turns the jack screw to adjust the position of the pedal.
