The ballistic panel includes a core that includes a plurality of node cells, an intermediate layer that surrounds the core and fills in the node cells, and an outer coating. The ballistic panel absorbs the force of high-velocity, ballistic, low-velocity, and high foot pound pressure rounds, fragments, and impacts and is capable of completely capturing such ballistic rounds and fragments without external deflection or complete penetration through ballistic panel.

Abstract: Tis invention is new apparatuses and methods for treatments to be used from inside conduits or biological pathways. Examples of the biological pathways in which these new apparatuses and methods may be used include arteries, veins, and respiratory ways. Multi-purpose catheters (10) and catheter systems using structures including wires (2108), balloons (2150), and cords (2204) are described as well as methods to use such catheters and catheter systems. One of the embodiments is a configurable wire system which carries or transports radioactive sources. The wire is used in conjunction with a closed-end channel catheter.

Abstract: A first subject of the present invention is a composite powder having antibacterial and antifungal effect, in which a base powder, zinc oxide and/or zinc basic carbonate, and alkali metal salt are combined. In the composite powder, it is preferable that the base powder is an adsorbing site for adsorbing a specified enzyme, and a site in which zinc oxide and/or zinc basic carbonate and alkali metal salt are combined is an acting site having enzyme inhibiting or activating property. In the composite powder, it is preferable that the zeta-potential of an adsorbing site at pH to be used is a negative value, and the zeta-potential of an adsorbing site at pH 7.5 is ?10 mV or lower. A second subject of the present invention is a cosmetic composition comprising the aforementioned composite powder. The composite powder can be also used as a skin roughening improving agent, a sensitive skin caring agent or a pimpled skin caring agent.

Abstract: A bolometer type ultra-sensitive silicon sensor pixel of a multi-pixel sensor wherein each pixel includes a detector stage, an intermediate stage, and a heat bath stage. The detector stage, the intermediate stage and a portion of the heat bath stage are generally co-planar and are interconnected by I-beam bridges so as to permit mutually co-planar rotation in response to stress and strain. Electrical coupling is improved between a micro-antenna and the detector stage by a two stage transformer assembly that couples the micro-antenna to the detector stage.

Abstract: A structure for use in a static induction transistor includes a semiconductor body having first and second semiconductor layers on a substrate, with the second layer having a dopant concentration of around an order of magnitude higher than the dopant concentration of the first layer. A plurality of sources are located on the second layer. A plurality of gates are ion implanted in the second layer, an end one of the gates being connected to all of the plurality of gates and constituting a gate bus. The gate bus has an extension connecting the gate bus in the second layer of higher dopant concentration to the first layer of lower dopant concentration. The extension is ion implanted in either a series of steps or a sloping surface which is formed in the first and second layers.

Abstract: A substrate and method for growing a semi-conductive crystal on an alloy film such as (AIN)x(SiC)(1-x) without any buffer layer is disclosed. The (AIN)x(SiC)(1-x) alloy film can be formed on a SiC substrate by a vapor deposition process using AlN and SiC powder as starting materials. The (AIN)x(SiC)(1-x) alloy film provides a better lattice match for GaN or SiC epitaxial growth and reduces defects in epitaxially grown GaN with better lattice match and chemistry.

Within each sensor, interconnection between co-planar stages is provided by elongated “I” beam type bridge members having a generally rectangular cross-section including unequal wider (height) and narrower (width) dimensions, and wherein the bridge members are oriented such that the narrower width dimension is in the direction of the common plane and the wider height dimension is perpendicular to the common plane. Abstract: This invention provides a method for treating Parkinson's disease (PD), particularly early stage of PD by orally administering to a mammal sporoderm-broken germination activated Ganoderma lucidum spore powders (GASP) to reduce and/or release the symptom of rotatory behavior in PD, to reduce the progression of neuron apoptosis and to improve the tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) activity so as to increase the conversion of hydroxydopamine (DOPA) to dopamine in the dopaminergic neurons. This invention also provides a method for reducing neuron apoptosis and a method for improving TH activity in dopaminergic neurons by orally administering to a mammal GASP.

Abstract: This invention is based on the discovery of an association of Collapsin Response Mediator Protein-1 (CRMP-1) with tumor metastasis. The level of CRMP-1 protein or mRNA can be used as an indicator of cellular invasiveness and of a test compound's ability to alter cellular invasiveness. The level of CRMP-1 protein can also be altered, e.g., to reduce invasiveness.
