  • Patent number: 4797050
Abstract: This invention pertains to the lifting and tilting of a container of fluent materials. Two embodiments are shown, one having a vertical column disposed to carry the secured container to a predetermined height. This apparatus may be fixed or may be movable from and to selected positions. A slot is formed in this column and a reciprocable movable plate is cycled up and down therein. A spur gear and meshed pinion are provided therein. The spur gear is rotated by an arm and cam follower on the end thereof, with the cam follower transverse an angled cam track to provide a determined tilt and rate of tilt. A second and telescoping embodiment is also disclosed for conditions in which the lift may be as much as twelve feet or more. Side and front discharge apparatus is shown. Container securement apparatus includes adjustable pins. A clamping arrangement for cylindrical containers with a tapered end is also contemplated. • Patent number: 4780977
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed which is operable for turning a page of a book, or other like reading material, and for retaining said page in a turned position. The page is turned via a vacuum arrangement which draws a single page away from the rest of the pages and an arm which is disposed in back of the single page and is displaced to turn said page from right to left. The page is retained in the turned position by means synchronously operataed with the page turning arrangement and including an arm which rests on the turned page to prevent said page from returning to the unturned page position.

  • Patent number: 4723672
Abstract: A tamper-proof container for medicaments or the like includes a receptacle and a cap, each featuring self-locking means so that when mutually engaged the container can only be accessed by changing its profile. Two external components, a guard and a shield, respectively, must be broken at their line of integration, and disengaged to provide access to a slot for parting the container at its neck. Such parting, provides access to a barrier which must be cut along a pre-scored line. The arrangement is such that the cap can be threadedly engaged with the receptacle to store a medicament dosage cup and includes a sanitation cover.

  • Patent number: 4705603
Abstract: Pyrolytic apparatus for the rapid and efficient thermal dissociation of matter is disclosed. The apparatus includes a concentric tubular arrangement of high thermal conductivity in a heat sink configuration; inlet members for heat and feedstock; outlet members for solids, gases and heat exhaust; and a plurality of annular passages through which heat is brought into heat transfer relationship with an interior pyrolytic retort section for the dissociation of matter conveyed therein into solid, liquid and gaseous by-products. Provisions are made for the separate liberation of steam produced by the simultaneous interfacing of superheated steam and product gas during pyrolytic decomposition of high moisture content feedstocks. Additional hydrocarbons from the product gas evoluted in the pyrolytic retort section are provided by diversion of the gas to an annulus flanked on either side by adjacent annuli conveying the heat source supply to exit.

  • Patent number: 4701068
Abstract: A shaft assembly (11) having a spline (16) with an anti-backlash device operable due to centrifugal force to engage both sides of internal spline teeth during rotation. The spline (16) includes a main force transmitting portion (18) and a moveable spline sleeve (22) which during operation engages the side of teeth opposite the side engaged by the main force transmitting spline. Spline sleeve (22) rides on helix member to move slightly circumferentially as it is moved axially by a centrifugal force actuated member. A bar which is pinned to the spline (16) has one end which moves radially outward due to centrifugal force as the spline (16) is rotated and another end which engages and moves the spline sleeve (22) axially. When the spline sleeve (22) is moved, the splined end on the shaft assembly (11) is locked or wedged into engagement with the mating internal spline (14).

  • Patent number: 4693114
Abstract: A gyrocompass navigation system for land vehicles is disclosed which includes self-contained heading and navigation means. The system determines the orientation of the vehicle with respect to grid north; provides land navigation information in universal transverse mercator (UTM) coordinates (northings and eastings); and provides range and bearing information for destination location. The system features a single degree of freedom gyroscope for both north seeking and navigational modes and further includes simplified means for tilt measurement and temperature compensation.

  • Patent number: 4686771
Abstract: Gyrocompassing apparatus for stationary equipment is disclosed which provides heading and two-axis tilt information while utilizing a minimum complement of relatively low cost components. The apparatus features a single degree of freedom gyroscope mounted to a mechanical levelling and indexing arrangement for implementing a gyrocompassing routine. Tilt information is provided with relatively high accuracy via a two-axis pendulum mechanization. A microprocessor with associated peripherals provides required control, compensation and computational functions.

  • Patent number: 4684902
Abstract: A radio frequency (RF) signal generator is disclosed which generates a baseband signal at a fixed center frequency and having required modulation characteristics. The baseband signal is translated to a desired output frequency signal by mixing with a step-variable local oscillator signal. Fast frequency modulation is achieved by using a fast tuning oscillator as the source of the baseband signal. The output frequency is generated while preserving all modulation characteristics of the baseband signal and to thereby provide high performance modulation having characteristics at a fixed frequency.

  • Patent number: 4644268
Abstract: Apparatus and method for extracting the fundamental component of a complex waveshape (E.sub.T) and for determining the magnitude (V) and phase .theta. of the fundamental component are disclosed. The complex waveshape is converted into digital data relative to a reference signal (E.sub.R) and the in-phase (x.sub.1) and quadrature (y.sub.1) components of the fundamental component are determined by a graphical Fourier analysis of the digital data so that the magnitude and phase of the fundmental component relative to the reference signal (E.sub.R) can be determined.
