  • Patent number: 5807101
Abstract: A universal occlusal matrix for application to the occlusal surface of a tooth having a central groove forming a V-shape in cross-section, the universal occlusal matrix being transparent to ultraviolet rays and to rays of the visible spectrum to permit rapid hardening by polymerization of the filling material and of a material which does not adhere to that of the said filing. The universal occlusal matrix has an elastic lamina having a central groove forming a V-shape in cross-section with first and second curved concave wings extending outward from the central groove. The elastic lamina extends away from the central groove sufficiently far to cover the occlusal surface of the various teeth to which it may be applied. The angle of the V-shape of the groove of the lamina is greater than the angle of the V-shape of the groove of the various teeth to which it may be applied.

  • Patent number: 5803764
Abstract: A method of weather proofing an opening through which an electrical cord passes. The method involves modifying the electrical cord by the addition of an elongate resilient deformable truncated conical sealing element. The electrical cord extends through a longitudinal passage in the truncated conical sealing element. The truncated conical sealing element is received into the opening in interference fit relation to provide a weather seal. The truncated conical sealing element can be integrally moulded to form part of an electrical plug. The opening may be modified with trumpet bell form lips to further enhance the weather seal.

  • Patent number: 5799975
Abstract: A magnetic fender cover including a sheet form body with a plurality of magnets attached to the body. Each of the magnets have an attachment face used to magnetically attach the body to an object and an opposed face substantially opposed to the attachment face. The opposed face of each one of the plurality of magnets being in the same orientation. Flux concentrating shielding is overlaying the opposed face of each of the plurality of magnets, thereby reducing magnetic flux adjacent to the opposed face and increasing magnetic flux adjacent to the attachment face of each one of the plurality of magnets.

  • Patent number: 5800111
Abstract: A compaction mechanism uses cables to move a compaction plate within a compaction chamber of a garbage truck. Cable guide pulleys are positioned adjacent a first end and a second end of the compaction chamber. Each cable has a first end and a second end, both of which are secured to the compaction plate. A winch-like drive assembly is used to concurrently move the cables to pull the compaction plate. This compaction mechanism is better able to withstand uneven resistance on the compaction plate without twisting.

  • Patent number: 5795096
Abstract: A road resurfacing device has a frame on which is mounted a ripper bar for ripping the road surface, to a controlled depth, and behind it a separator for separating coarse and fine material in the road surface such the coarse material is deposited on fine material. The frame is supported by rollers extending across the frame. The ripper bar has depending teeth in rows on both sides of the ripper bar and is rotatable so that either sets of teeth, which may be at different heights, rip the road surface. The separator is formed of ground turning discs mounted on angled shafts to direct material first to one side and then to the other. The ground turning discs rotate counter to the direction of movement of the frame. A method of resurfacing a gravel road includes ripping the surface of the gravel road to break up fine and coarse material near the surface of the gravel road; and separating coarse material from fine material such that coarse material is deposited on top of the fine material.

  • Patent number: 5787818
Abstract: A method of placing a shelf in a storage compartment, consisting of the following described steps. Firstly, select a pair of shelf members having opposed ends. The distance between the opposed ends is substantially equal to the distance between interior sidewalls of the storage compartment. Secondly, select a pair of support members having opposed ends. The distance between the opposed ends corresponds to a desired shelf height. Thirdly, pivotally connect adjacent opposed ends of the shelf members and the support members to form a parallelogram frame. Fourthly, collapse the parallelogram frame to permit insertion into the storage compartment. Fifthly, bring the support members into engagement with the interior sidewalls of the storage compartment thereby orienting the shelf members perpendicular to the support members, with the interior sidewalls of the storage compartment providing lateral support.

  • Patent number: 5788896
Abstract: A method of producing micron sized sulphur granules involving the following described steps. Firstly, heating sulphur until the sulphur becomes molten. Secondly, tempering water and inducing movement of the water at velocity. Thirdly, injecting an unbroken stream of the molten sulphur under pressure into the heated water moving at velocity. An explosive dispersion of the molten sulphur into fine sulphur granules occurs, enhanced by shear forces exerted by the movement of the heated water at velocity. The described method is capable of producing spherical sulphur granules within a broad range of 70 microns to submicron sizes. In the preferred ranges, spherical sulphur granules of less than 10 microns are be obtained.

  • Patent number: 5784824
Abstract: A fish retainer for ice fishing includes a base and an elongate member depending from the base. The elongate member has a first end, a second end and a longitudinal axis. A fish retaining gate is asymmetrically mounted to the second end. The elongate member is mounted for rotation about the longitudinal axis. The rotation of the elongate member to a first rotational position positions the fish retaining gate in a non-obstructing position. The rotation of the elongate member to a second rotational position positions the fish retaining gate in an obstructing position. A spring urges the elongate member toward the second rotational position. A locking mechanism locks the elongate member in the first rotational position. Upon the locking mechanism being released, the elongate member is urged by the spring to the second rotational position in which the fish retaining gate is in the obstructing position.

  • Patent number: 5784032
Abstract: A compact diversity antenna is presented consisting of two electrically isolated orthogonal loop conductors joined at a midpoint. This midpoint is also electrically attached to a vertical conductor which produces a third mode of operation electrically isolated from the first modes. The two horizontal conductors and the vertical conductor may be constructed to have various relationships with a ground plane of various shapes and sizes. Some of the possible feed arrangements for each of the antennas is presented as well as matching and tuning circuits. All three antenna elements are found to have relatively weak near electric and magnetic fields on the ground plane side of the antenna where the ground plane is small in extent. This feature provides for reduced radiation into the head and neck of the cellular phone user.
