A laser is used for surface irradiating a substrate potentially having the chemical agents to heat the substrate. A shutter controls the laser to receive and record photoluminescence emissions from the heated substrate, and generate a plurality of interferograms co-added to provide a favorable signal to noise ratio for use with the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroradiometer. The co-added interferograms are used to generate molecular absorption resonant peaks which are mathematically processed in the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroradiometer.

    Abstract: A self heating individual meal module includes a tub for holding a quantity f food to be heated. Below the tub is a tray containing an electrolytic-solution-activated exothermic-chemical pad and a pouch containing an electrolytic solution. The tub is welded to the tray and in contact with the pad. A pull-tab is attached to the pouch for opening the pouch so that the electrolytic solution inside the pouch can flow out to trigger the exothermic reaction in the pad so as to heat the tub containing the food. The tub and the tray are removably seated in a first paperboard carton which provides protection during storage and transportation and insulation during the heating process. The self heating individual meal module may also include a second paperboard carton having removably seated inside a quantity of bread, a beverage powder, a dessert, accessories and eating utensils. The two paperboard cartons may be glued together to provide a complete single serve meal.

    Abstract: The velocity of a fluid in a positive or negative direction is measured by se of a thermistor in a feedback circuit. The temperature of a flow thermistor is balanced with the temperature of a reference thermistor by sensing temperature through resistance by way of its voltage and adding power until the flow thermistor is at the same temperature as the reference thermistor. The ratio of reference power used as compared to flow power is indicative of the fluid's speed. Power is added by sending a signal of varying frequency to the flow thermistor; the reference thermistor is powered by a constant frequency signal. Power is measured by comparing the frequencies of the reference signal to the flow signal. Fluid direction is measured by placing a direction thermistor on either side of the flow thermistor, measuring the temperature of each direction thermistor, the cooler thermistor being upstream of the flow thermistor.

Each coupling portion has a valve to close the portions when they are disconnected. The coupling portions are configured to have a difference between the inside diameter of the female coupling portion and the reduced diameter of the male coupling. The female coupling portion is free to rotate about a point of maximum penetration by the male coupling portion to permit quick disconnection upon application of force to the outer end of either of the coupling portions.
