  • Patent number: 6755605
Abstract: A stick placer includes a stick magazine and a stick receiver. A stop regulates passage of the lowermost stick from a lower opening in the stick magazine. The stick receiver is rotatable and has a stick receiving pocket. The stick receiver is selectively rotatably mounted adjacent the lower opening in the stick magazine. The stick receiver is rotatable between a stick receiving position and a stick depositing position. In the stick receiving position the pocket cooperates with the lower opening so as to receive the lowermost stick into the pocket when the stop is selectively removed so as to release the lowermost stick from the lower opening in the magazine. In the stick depositing position, the stick receiver is angularly displaced from the stick receiving position so as to dispose the pocket for deposit of the stick from the pocket onto an upper tier of a stack of lumber.

  • Patent number: 6705363
Abstract: A log processor and log processing method scans a log (L) at a first station (18) so that the longitudinal centerline (32) and a sawing scheme for the log can be automatically determined by a controller (4). The log is oriented at a second station (24) so that the longitudinal centerline is oriented with respect to a vertical plane passing through the feed line. The position of the log is automatically adjusted at third and fourth stations (36, 42) so that the saw blade path (56) through the log is generally parallel to the feed line as the log passes a log exit (12) and through a saw (14). The sawing scheme can include variable tapering sawing from split taper sawing to full taper sawing. Differential steering chain assemblies (37) may be used at the fourth station and may each include continuous loop, log-engaging chains (106) which engage the log above and below the log. Log chipping, profiling heads (62) may be used on either side of the feed line, such as at a fifth station.

  • Patent number: 6691365
Abstract: A mirror housing contains an electrical motor. A drive arm is mounted to the output shaft of a speed reducer mounted on the motor. A linkage arm rotatably couples the drive arm to a rocker disk which is rotatably mounted within the housing. Three hundred sixty degree rotation of the drive arm by operation of the electric motor imparts a back-and-forth arcuate rocking motion to the rocker disk which in turn imparts a linear back-and-forth motion to a wiper mounted over the mirror glass.

  • Patent number: 6679481
Abstract: The fencing system of the present invention includes elongate posts and cross-members. The posts are hollow tubular posts having cylindrical cavities along their length and apertures formed in side walls thereof. The apertures are for accepting in mating engagement therein the cross-members when the cross-members extend between adjacent posts in a parallel array of the posts. The cross-members each have a hole in at least one end thereof although usually in both ends, the holes extending laterally through the end or ends of the cross-members. A rod is inserted or insertable into the cylindrical cavity of at least one of the posts for mating into each hole of each of the cross-members when the cross-members are mated into the apertures. Each hole of each of the cross-members is sized to accept the rod in journalled relation therethrough. Thus, a single rod may releasably lock a plurality of cross-members mounted to a single post.

  • Patent number: 6672347
Abstract: A tree delimber includes a hollow tube having opposite upper and lower ends, the upper end adapted for mounted below an aerial hoist, the lower end having an anti-rotation device mounted thereto for coupling with, mating into and temporarily entangling with the branches of a tree as the trunk of the tree is journalled upwardly through the hollow tube as the tube is lowered onto the tree and down the trunk of the tree. The anti-rotation device inhibits rotation of the tube about a longitudinal axis of symmetry of the tube. A collar is rotatably mounted to the lower end of the tube. An annular saw blade having a lower cutting edge is mounted to the collar so as to dispose the cutting edge downwardly. The cutting edge of the saw rotates in a circle contained in a plane generally perpendicular to the axis of symmetry of the tube. A prime mover is mounted to the tube.

  • Patent number: 6648748
Abstract: A vacuum conduit system for removal of fumes and air borne particulate matter includes a primary duct and a plurality of flexible secondary ducts mounted in fluid cooperation to the primary duct. The primary duct includes hollow rigid conduit sections interspersed between, and in fluid communication with, hollow flexible conduit sections.
