  • Patent number: 7201339
Abstract: A heavy flywheel disc having a radially spaced apart array of pockets in which are mounted knives. Short logs, which have been de-barked, are fed in with their long axis parallel to the face of the flywheel. A hydraulic ram translates the logs sideways into the plane containing the rotating knives. The use of the hydraulic ram provides for a variable infeed speed to obtain the particular thickness of shavings which provides in the end commercially desirable shavings for use, for example, in horse stables. The knives have notched cutting edges. The notches limit the width of each shaving to create strands which are for example ¾ inches wide. The strands are then chopped in an automated chopping device such as a forage harvester to produce shavings.

  • Patent number: 7198166
Abstract: A rigid modular container includes a floor and an opposite lid, and between the floor and lid opposite rigid rectilinearly-shaped first and second panels, and oppositely disposed rigid rectilinearly-shaped third and fourth panels extending from and between the first and second panels. The panels are removably mounted to the floor. The side edges of adjacent panels are removably mounted to each other as by bolting so that the side edges of the third and fourth panels abut the side edges of the first and second panels. Fastener bracing means such as bolt bracing are mounted to the side edges of the panels and are aligned between adjacent the panels so that fastener receiving apertures therethrough provide for rigid bracing of rigid fasteners such as bolts mounted through and between the fastener bracing means on the adjacent panels. Rigid fasteners such as bolts may thus be mounted through the fastener bracing means on the adjacent the panels.

  • Patent number: 7178246
Abstract: A cutting assembly is slidably mounted on a T-Square. The T-Square may include a scale having multiple indicia for measured cutting based on the size of the wallboard sheet being cut. The cutting assembly is mounted on a slider which may be clamped at measured positions along the arm of the T-Square. The cutting assembly includes oppositely disposed knife blades which are slidably mounted in a housing and spring loaded on opposite sides of a pivot mount such that when not in use the cutting assembly is urged to level and rests with the two knife blades retracted. As the housing is rotated so as to lower one end, the corresponding knife blade extends from the housing to engage with and score or cut the surface of the wallboard material. The cutting tool may be rotated in the opposite direction to thereby extend from the housing the other blade of the pair of oppositely disposed knife blades.

  • Patent number: 7178474
Abstract: A hollow ballast tank contains within it a plurality of flexible bags for storing fluids such as fuel, freshwater and grey water. These fluids serve as functional ballast weight to complement the ballast weight provided by seawater which fills the remaining volume of the ballast tank upon being drawn into the tank through an intake pipe. Hoses run from each bag and emerge from a hatch in the upper surface of the ballast tank to service the boat. As fuel and freshwater are consumed, seawater is drawn into the ballast tank to compensate for the lost volume. Grey water may also be returned to a bag in the tank to serve as ballast weight.

  • Patent number: 7140971
Abstract: A practice putting device according to the present invention is an annular collar sized for a snug friction fit onto a conventional golf ball. The collar in use is placed on a putting surface so that the golf ball may be aimed at the collar opening when the collar is laid on its side. Upon a successful putt, a golf ball becomes frictionally lodged within the collar. The collar has a one inch depth which, when the putt has the correct weight, and is aimed exactly so as to lodge in the collar, the collar will flip up so that its opening is in a horizontal plane, and so as to hold the golf ball in the manner of an egg sitting in an egg cup.

  • Patent number: 7134721
Abstract: A vehicle seat, which provides an enhanced level of comfort, by the use of dual independently supported seat cushions is disclosed. The apparatus comprises an inner seat cushion and an outer seat cushion, each of which is independently supported by a compressed air pneumatic device to control vertical movement, and by parallelogram linkages control lateral movement, and allow for vertical transition of the seats while maintaining them horizontal. The occupant of this vehicle seat can independently adjust the distribution of body weight shared by the inner seat cushion and the outer seat cushion from time to time, in order to change the pressure pattern against body parts and to provide optimum ergonomic seating posture. Furthermore, by adjusting the air supply, the occupant can increase or decrease the seat's effective spring rate, thus controlling the ride height and the seat's compliance for travel on both rough terrain and smooth roadways.

  • Patent number: 7117907
Abstract: An apparatus for adjustably profiling a cant comprising a first and second shaft rotatably mounted on a first and second frame, respectively. A first and second pair of laterally spaced apart profiling heads are slidably and rotatably mounted on the first and second shaft, respectively. Corresponding pairs of linear positioners laterally translate the first and second laterally spaced apart heads so that each profiling head in each pair of profiling heads may be independently translated relative to the other to set spacing, and then each pair may be sleeved cooperatively in unison. The pairs of profiling heads may be vertically displaced relative to the longitudinal centerline of a cant. The profiling heads remove notches from the wane corners of the cant.
