Abstract: A method of cutting a wood block for production of veneer by a rotary veneer lathe. The veneer lathe includes a veneer knife, a number of rotatable peripheral drive wheels placed parallel to the veneer knife and each having a number of tooth-like projections pierceable into a wood block for driving the wood block for rotation about its axis, and a guide member for guiding veneer peeled from the wood block. The cutting of the wood block is done at a first position of the peripheral drive wheels where the veneer peeled from the wood block is pierced by the projections to such an extent that substantial splits are formed in the veneer along wood grain thereof, and also at a second position where the projections provide no force to the veneer moving past the guide member that causes the substantial splits in the veneer.
Abstract: A volatile memory stores data related to application program. Data that is the same as the data in the volatile memory is also stored in a nonvolatile memory. When writing the data from the volatile memory to the nonvolatile memory, it is confirmed that the data has no error. A parity bit for each data block in the volatile memory is stored in the volatile memory. It is then decided whether or not there is an error in the data stored in the volatile memory based on the parity bits. If an error is detected in the data stored in the volatile memory then the data is recovered or corrected by using the data in the nonvolatile memory. Data can be thus recovered speedily and reliably.
Abstract: A damage preventing system for use in preventing damage to motorcycles and the like when being conveyed on a transporting vehicle. Inflatable supporting cushions, anchored at selected locations to the transporting vehicle with use of attachment apertures, provide protection from damage resulting from contact between multiple motorcycles, or between a motorcycle and the transporting vehicle. Inflatable supporting cushions having multiple air-tight chambers enable a user to provide various cushioning pressure to different portions of the motorcycle being protected from damage.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an oil storage tank equipped with a floating bed type inner floating roof. The oil storage tank structure has a tank body and an inner floating roof which lies on the liquid surface inside the tank. The inner floating roof includes filling bags and a resilient sealing tube. The filling bags, separated by isolation sheets, are filled with floating plates. The resilient sealing tube is disposed around the entire circumference of the filling bags, and is in contact with and biased against the inner wall of the tank body.

Abstract: A cooling module includes a thermal conductive member. An endoergic chamber, a radiative chamber and a circulation pump chamber are defined along the thermal conductive member. The thermal conductive member contacts a heat generating object outside the endoergic chamber. The thermal energy is transferred to the coolant in the endoergic chamber. The coolant then flows into the radiative chamber. The thermal energy of the coolant is taken away in the radiative chamber. The thermal energy is radiated from the outer wall surface of the radiative chamber. This cooling cycle is repeated so that an efficient cooling operation can be realized in the cooling module. Arrangement of the endoergic, radiative and circulation pump chambers along the thermal conductive member leads to a minimized height of the cooling module.
Abstract: When male and female housings are attached to each other, a side projection of a locking arm contacts and presses a side engaging part to bend the locking arm in a specific amount and overlap a side projection of the locking arm with a projection of the male housing. At this time, a main engaging part contacts and presses downward a main projection of the locking arm. Then, since the projection of the male housing is under the side projection, the locking arm is temporarily supported at both sides and bent in a bow shape vertically. Then, after the male housing is inserted into the female housing further, the bend of the locking arm is released, and simultaneously the main projection and the main engaging part engage with each other to complete the attachment between the male and female housings.
