  • Patent number: 5119782
Abstract: An ignition timing control system for vehicle internal combustion engines which retards the ignition timing during acceleration so as to reduce power shock caused by drive shaft vibration generated when the body of a vehicle with a high-powered engine is not able to keep up with the sudden change in engine output torque and so as to avoid the combustion knock that is apt occur during acceleration. In order to compensate for the monifold pressure lag when an acceleration state is detected, the engine load is monitored as to whether it reaches a reference level within prescribed a period, and only after it is confirmed that the engine output torque has actually begun to increase within the prescribed period, the ignition timing retard is commenced. The retarded ignition timing is maintained for another period when the engine load is above a second reference level and then returned in the advance direction at a first slow rate.

  • Patent number: 5120666
Abstract: In the manufacture of MISFETs using an Si layer island having an SOI structure, the present invention provides an Si layer over an SiO.sub.2 insulation layer, having a groove passing underneath the Si layer gate region and being formed on the surface of the SiO.sub.2 insulation layer by side etching conducted from both sides of the Si layer gate region, so as to form the source and drain. Next, after the SiO.sub.2 insulation layer is formed on the exposed surface of the Si layer gate electrode, a doped polysilicon region is formed through the SiO.sub.2 insulation film in such a manner that the groove and the area surrounding the Si layer gate region are filled, thereby forming the gate electrode. Thereafter, the MISFET is completed according to ordinary FET manufacturing methods.

  • Patent number: 5119694
Abstract: A method for controlling an automatic transmission by carrying out speed changes in a vehicle in accordance with predetermined characteristics, said characteristics including engine load and vehicle speed, and said method comprising the step of carrying out a non-creeping control. The non-creeping control is carried out by stopping a power transmission to, or decreasing a transmitting torque to, an output side of the transmission when braking apparatus is operated under an idling operating condition in which the vehicle is substantially stopped. The non-creeping control is continued once the non-creeping control has been started even if thereafter the braking apparatus ceases to be operating.

  • Patent number: 5118898
Abstract: A process for the production of ethylene from a methane rich gas stream and an ethane rich gas stream. The process comprises the steps of:(a) introducing the methane rich gas stream together with molecular oxygen into a lower zone of a fluidized-bed of particles which are catalytically active in promoting an exothermic oxidative coupling reaction to produce ethylene and other hydrocarbons,(b) mixing the ethane rich gas stream into the fluidized-bed above the level at which substantially all of the molecular oxygen has been consumed, and(c) subjecting the mixture resulting from step (b) to an endothermic pyrolysis reaction in an upper zone of the fluidized-bed to produce further ethylene and other olefinically unsaturated hydrocarbons. The process is characterized in that the pyrolysis step (c) is carried out substantially without the addition of heat to the reactor, other than the heat content of the methane rich and ethane rich gas streams and the heat generated by the exothermic oxidative coupling reaction.

  • Patent number: 5119496
Abstract: An interrupt processing method and an interrupt processing apparatus provides an end indicative information storing unit for storing an end indicative information of a daisy chain for at least one of a plurality peripheral units, the peripheral unit receiving the indicative information when the peripheral unit receives an acknowledge signal but does not output a request signal, and the peripheral unit outputs a specific chain end state signal to the central processing unit, so that the central processing unit is returned from a response waiting state. Therefore, when an error request signal is produced by noise, etc., delay at a central processing unit is reduced. Further, the daisy chain connection is cut at an optional portion and a request signal from an irrevelant peripheral unit is ignored, so that the efficiency of the processing is improved.
