Abstract: A rotating support apparatus in a disk storage device is provided with a stationary shaft, ball bearings rotatably fitted on the stationary shaft, a rotatable member rotatably supported by and on the ball bearings, and buffer rings superimposed between the associated ball bearings and the rotatable member to absorb a thermal deformation of the rotatable member due to a change in a temperature. The buffer rings have a same coefficient of linear expansion as that of the material of which the rotatable member is made, and each of the buffer rings is in contact, at two points of the outer inner surfaces thereof, with the rotatable member or outer races of the ball bearings, and at one point of the inner or outer surface thereof, with the associated ball bearing or the inner surface of the hub, respectively.
Abstract: A sheet-metal centrifugal pump casing comprising a casing shell having a suction port and being formed of a steel plate by means of deep drawing using a press, and having a suction flange firmly attached to the suction port of the casing shell is disclosed. The centrifugal pump casing further comprises a partition body firmly attached to the inner surface of the casing shell for partitioning a space within the casing shell into a suction chamber and a pressure chamber, and a diffuser which is integrally extended from the suction side end portion of the partition body and which tapers off toward peripheral edge of said suction port so that an axial gap is formed between the end edge of the diffuser and the peripheral edge of said suction port.
Abstract: A multistage turbine is provided for driving a downhole motor, which is driven by the flow of a fluid therethrough. The turbine comprises a housing and a shaft positioned in the housing, the shaft rotating about the longitudinal axis thereof. A plurality of turbine stages are mounted on the shaft for rotation therewith, each turbine stage including a rim coaxial with the shaft and a plurality of turbine blades fixed to the rim. A plurality of flow directing stators are positioned between adjacent turbine stages, each of the stators having a wall portion and diverter portion, wherein the wall portions are perpendicular to the axis of the shaft and the diverter portions are at an angle of less than 90.degree. with respect to the axis of the shaft.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a conductive material and a process for producing said conductive material. More particularly, the present invention relates to a conductive material comprising (a) a substrate obtained from a polycarbodiimide resin and (b) a dopant, which is superior in oxidation resistance, mechanical strengths and flexibility, and useful as a material for electronic field, as well as to a process for producing said conductive material.
Abstract: An aluminum alloy consists of, by weight, from 0.08 to 0.50 percent silicon, from 0.15 to 0.90 percent iron, the weight ratio of iron to silicon being from 1.4 to 2.2, and the remainder aluminum, intermetallic compounds of .alpha.-type Al-Fe-Si system being contained in the alloy. A light gray oxide film is formed on the alloy by anodic treatment.
Abstract: A leather-like thermoplastic polyester series resin sheet is disclosed, comprising a uniformly and finely formed sheet comprising a thermoplastic polyester series resin, wherein said foamed sheet has cells having a diameter of substantially not longer than 1 mm, the cell walls thereof have a thickness of substantially not thicker than 100 .mu.m, and the cell wall constructing each cell extends with irregular bending so as to make a flexibility of not more than 20,000 mg in the Gurley flexibility test. A process for production of the leather-like thermoplastic polyester series resin sheet is also disclosed.
Abstract: There are described 1-azoniabicyclo[3.3.0]oct-1(5)-ene salt derivatives inclusive of 1-azonia-4,6-dimethylbicyclo[3.3.0]oct-1(5)-ene perchlorate, and a process for the preparation of the same. The derivatives can be prepared by heating dicyclopropylmethanimine salt derivative in a solvent, in the presence or absence of an ammonium salt. Each of the derivatives is employed as an intermediate for preparing various medicines and agricultural chemicals.
Abstract: A semiconductor device includes a first region, a well-shaped second region formed in the first region and a third region formed in the well-shaped second region. Both the first region and the third region have a first conductive type, the well-shaped second region has a second conductive type. A gate electrode is formed on a channel of the well-shaped second region. The channel is sandwiched between the first region and the third region. According to the present invention, the depth of the third region is very deep in a portion near the channel and is very shallow in a portion far from the channel. A resistance of the well-shaped second region near a portion of the third region far from the channel is lower than near the portion of the third region near the channel.

Abstract: A wafer-scale semiconductor memory device includes a wafer, and a plurality of memory chips formed on the wafer. The memory chips contain a memory chip which includes a storage circuit, and a switching transistor which selectively connects the storage circuit to a power supply line in response to a control signal. The memory chip also includes a control logic circuit which writes data into the storage circuit and reads out data from the storage circuit and which generates a logic signal used for controlling the transistor. Further, the memory chip includes a fail-safe circuit having a circuit element having a status showing whether or not the control logic circuit is malfunctioning.
Abstract: A variable pitch spot welding gun assembly for a welding robot has a fixed base (16) directly attached to the robot wrist (12) of an industrial welding robot, welding transformers (24, 26) fixed to the fixed base (16), a fixed spot welding gun (22) provided apart from the welding transformers (24, 26), a movable spot welding gun (20) provided apart from the welding transfomers (24, 26) and capable of being moved relative to the fixed spot welding gun (22), to adjust a pitch between the fixed spot welding gun (22) and the movable spot welding gun (20), and secondary conductors (44a to 44e) connecting the fixed and movable spot welding guns (22, 90) respectively to the welding transformers (24, 26).
Abstract: In a method and an apparatus for determining the frequency of short oscillation bursts of electrical signals firstly oscillation bursts in desired number are read into a storage means and read out again cyclically adjoined to each other so that an oscillation train of any desired length results of which the mean frequency can be easily determined.
Abstract: In a method for heat process of silicon, a single crystal silicon produced by the Czochralski process is thermally processed at a low temperature ranging from 400.degree. C. to 550.degree. C. Outside this temperature range, the oxygen precipitate is not adequate. The result is that a predetermined oxygen precipitate can be obtained uniformly in the crystal growth direction without any reduction especially at the crystal bottom part. The resulting silicon is particularly suitable for manufacture of LSI.

Abstract: A plurality of thermocouples are embedded close to each other with individually different depth in a temperature detecting block. One or more of the temperature detecting block are attached to the surface of a thermal sensor roll. When the thermal sensor roll is held in contact with a metal strip being rolled, temperatures in the thermal sensor roll are measured at a plurality of points. The temperature of the metal strip in contact with the surface of the thermal sensor roll is calculated from the graduation of a temperature in the thermal sensor roll along a direction vertical to the surface of the thermal sensor roll, without the influence of disturbances. The obtained temperature value of the metal strip being rolled is compared with an experimentally obtained temperature of heat streak formation, to predict the formation of heat streaks with high accuracy.
Abstract: The detection circuit includes a first synchronism detection circuit for synchronous detection of an input signal. A second synchronism detection circuit synchronously detects the input signal separately from the first synchronism detection circuit. A phase-shifting circuit outputs differently phased signals to the first synchronism detection circuit and the second synchronism detection circuit. A first smoothing circuit smooths the output of the first synchronism detection circuit. A second smoothing circuit smooths the output of the second synchronism detection circuit. A composite circuit adds the outputs of the first smoothing circuit and the second smoothing circuit. Even when a drift component is contained in the input signal, the detection circuit will output a predetermined output signal in which the drift component is suppressed.
Abstract: An improved steel cord for reinforcing rubber is formed of three steel filaments, one having a smaller diameter than the other two, twisted together. The thinner filament is twisted with the two filaments at least partially in contact with them and with the same pitch. When the steel cord is cut at both ends, the thinner filament is retracted inwardly from the ends of the two filaments. This improves the penetration of rubber into the cord and prevents edge separation.
Abstract: The laser isotope separation apparatus utilizes the circularly-polarized light to selectively excite the isotopes to the first or the second excited level. In case where the isotope shift is equal to or smaller than the line width of the laser light, it can be selectively ionized and separated because the isotopes absorb the circularly-polarized light based on the angular momentum selection rule and are excited and the isotopes not excited according to the mass number of isotopes (or those having nuclear spin not equal to zero and equal to zero). The selective excitation by the angular momentum selection rule and the ionization are performed by 3 steps of excitation. Three excitation wavelengths are generated from two or more lasers, and the optical paths of these light beams are made to be in same length by optical delay circuit. Accordingly, even when the laser light source is pulse-operating, selective excitation and ionization can be performed.
Abstract: A bipolar transistor includes a base region made of silicon crystal doped with a first impurity to a first level so as to establish a first carrier concentration in the base region and an emitter region made of silicon crystal doped with a second impurity to a second level substantially larger than the first level by a predetermined factor so as to establish a second carrier concentration in the emitter region, in which the second impurity exceeds the solubility limit of the second impurity in silicon crystal. The first and second levels are chosen in such a range that a difference in the carrier concentrations between the emitter region and the base region decreases substantially with increasing impurity level in the base region.
