  • Patent number: 5677790
Abstract: The subject invention comprises a light-reflective device comprising an article made of light-reflecting material to which is attached fastening means rotatably mounted thereto. Because of the moveable features of the fastening means of the subject invention, the article may be attached to varying objects in varying positions with respect thereto. For example, the reflective device may be worn by a jogger on his or her clothing. In addition, the device may be easily attached to a sneaker or a sock or a bicycle or a baby carriage and the like. Furthermore, because the reflective surface moves in varying positions relative to the fastening means, as the object to which it is attached moves (for example, a jogger), light, impacting upon the surface of the light-reflective device, is reflected in a pulsating manner thereby rendering the object more visible to an oncoming observer.

  • Patent number: 5601312
Abstract: This invention comprises a two-piece cover for binding a plurality of sheets into a booklet or brochure. The front cover panel is adapted to having printed material applied to one side by use of a standard photocopy or offset printing equipment. After application of the printed design on the front cover panel, the booklet is assembled by securing the front cover panel to the rear cover panel. The front cover panel is secured to the edge of a stack of sheets by securing means or staples. The rear cover panel contains a flap portion situated along a longitudinal side edge which is delineated from the remaining rectangular portion of the rear cover panel by two hinge-forming scorelines. The distance between the two scorelines is slightly greater than the height of the stack of sheets.

  • Patent number: 5427346
Abstract: A carrying case and anchoring system for a beach umbrella and its support shaft is disclosed comprising in combination:(1) Container means consisting of top, bottom and side members wherein the top and bottom members are operationally connected at one edge by hinge means to allow pivoting of the members about the axis of the hinge means whereby the container is opened and closed; wherein the top, bottom and side members define a hollow cavity when the carrying case is closed of sufficient size to receive a beach umbrella, its support shaft and a weighting medium for anchoring the container means, umbrella and support shaft; the top and bottom members being further characterized by possessing a plurality of paired openings situated through the top and bottom members wherein the openings of each pair are in direct opposition to one another such that when the carrying case is closed, the opening in the top member is juxtaposed upon the opening in the bottom member, thereby forming a channel through which the umb

  • Patent number: 4940441
Abstract: This invention provides an improved aerodynamic disc comprising a central portion and a perimeter portion, the perimeter portion defining a central cavity situated within the central rim portion, in which upper and lower openings are connected by a threaded circular sidewall. The central portion of the disc contains a rotatably removable insert which is threadably engaged with the threaded circular sidewall of the central cavity. The insert comprises upper and lower circular surfaces which are connected by a threaded circular sidewall. The threading of the central cavity sidewall of the disc and the circular sidewall of the insert, are in male/female relationship to one another. Accordingly, by inserting and rotating the insert in the central cavity, the threads become engaged thereby locking the insert into the central cavity. Conversely, the insert may be rotated in the opposite direction, thereby removing it from the cavity.

  • Patent number: 4761973
Abstract: The guide bars of a warp knitting/crochet warp knitting as well as the plurality of needles associated with such machines are automatically fully controlled for each full reciprocal movement in the knitting cycle of said machines. The pattern bars, yarn guides and needles are all moved in synchronism with each other and the rotation of the main machine drive to generate various desired patterns through a programmable memory with the capacity to store all the information required to position all the pattern governing parts in a series of juxtapositions which produce the desired patterns in the cloth fabricated by said machine. Said programmable memory means is integrated with a signal processing means generating signals which control the rotation of Servo-Motors; direction of the rotation of said Servo-Motors; rate of rotation of said Servo-Motors; and duration of each said series of rotations.

  • Patent number: 4505679
Abstract: The invention relates to a flexible diaphragm which is surrounded at its periphery by an annular ring. This diaphragm is implanted into the pulp chamber after endodontic treatment and provides a covering for the root canal system to prevent infiltration of bacteria and other sources of infection. The device finds particular utility in the context of post-operative inflammation and/or infection in the supporting tissues which may result in build up of intraosseous pressure. The flexibility of the diaphragm material permits it to expand under pressure, thereby minimizing any discomfort which may be otherwise experienced by the patient.
