  • Patent number: 6144684
Abstract: A laser diode array assembly includes a laser diode array and a memory device integrally packaged with the array. The memory device includes operational information concerning the array. The memory device is accessible by a host external operating system which determines the manner in which the array is to be powered based on the operational information. The memory device may have the capability to be written to such that the external operating system can record in the memory device significant events such as extreme operational conditions, operational faults, and the on-time or shot-count of the array. The assembly may include sensors to which the operating system is coupled. The assembly may further include a processing means to monitor the sensors and provide real-time updates to the external operating system such that laser diode array is continuously powered in an optimal manner.

  • Patent number: 6135217
Abstract: A jar up, bump down hydraulic drilling jar is described. A hydraulic tripping valve arrangement permits the storage of large amounts of static force before releasing a hammer to strike an anvil surface with substantial force. The hammer is positioned on the mandrel and interacts with the anvil surface in the housing to deliver upward jarring forces, to the drill string. During a downward jarring movement, the tripping valve is opened to prevent pressure buildup and accidental downward jarring; thus, a single-acting drilling jar is formed.

  • Patent number: 6135773
Abstract: A method and set of components is disclosed for positioning an implant analog within a dental impression taken from the patient, relative to the position of a dental implant or "converted" implant in the patient's mouth. The set of components include an implant orientation tool, an impression coping and an implant analog having an orientation reference. The method involves the steps of attaching an impression coping to the implant and making a dental impression. An interlocking member of the impression coping is accessible through an opening in the impression material. The implant analog is then attached to the impression coping. The implant analog is positioned by rotating it in the coping until the orientation reference on one end of the implant analog reaches an alignment position mirroring the alignment position of the implant itself.

  • Patent number: 6128187
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved cardcage design. The improvements result from the formation of an integral cardcage side using a construction method involving precision punched sheet aluminum that is precision formed into final configuration. The integral cardcage side design provides ease of assembly for the cardcage while enhancing structural integrity, improves the alignment of circuit cards within the cardcage to the backplane, increases the airflow channels between the card guides, and adapts to incorporate additional features for airflow control. The manufacturability of the cardcage is greatly simplified by reducing the number of parts requiring assembly and by the use of simple and inexpensive tools and assembly techniques.

  • Patent number: 6125356
Abstract: A handheld computer unit for use by, e.g., a car sales person (seller) prompts the seller with a standard script to be followed at each step in the process after a prospect enters a dealership. The prospect's response to the scripted questions is used to identify the prospect's particular interests of a general nature, e.g., safety, and of a specific nature, e.g., trailer towing capacity. When either a general or specific interest is identified, the seller is prompted to tailor the conversation to address the prospect's interests.

  • Patent number: 6121811
Abstract: A high resolution variable time delay circuit is disclosed. In one embodiment, a current digital to analog converter (DAC) is used to sequentially charge two capacitors having similar capacitance construction. A threshold level capacitor provides the threshold level to a comparator, and a ramping capacitor is used for ramping to the threshold to provide a delay time. The comparator provides a delayed pulse using the threshold level provided by the threshold level capacitor and the ramp provided by the ramping capacitor. Thus, resolution is better than that provided by digital elements alone. This circuit also automatically cancels errors due to capacitance variations and unit current variation of the DAC introduced during the manufacturing process. In another embodiment a single capacitor is used in combination with two current DACs and a comparator to provide a controllable time delay.

  • Patent number: 6113901
Abstract: Disclosed are immunopotentiating agents, and vaccines thereof, which enhance and/or otherwise modify immune responses, and methods for their preparation and use in vivo. Immunopotentiating agents can be single agents that act directly, adjuvants added concurrently with the agents, or preferably, heteroconjugates wherein the immunopotentiating agent is chemically coupled to the compound against which an immune response is desired. Examples of immunopotentiating agents include monoclonal antibodies and proteins derived from microorganisms (e.g., enterotoxins) which activate T cells. The compounds against which an immune response can be generated, which may be the second component in a heteroconjugate, include compounds from abnormal or diseased tissues such as tumors, or infectious agents, such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, protozoal or metozoal parasites, and can be obtained by natural or recombinant means.
