  • Patent number: 8266775
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method is provided for installing clamps. The system comprises pliers and an awl. The pliers have a pair of bifurcated jaws, each jaw generally narrow and of substantially equal width and thickness. A first jaw is pivotally mounted in relation to a second jaw such that spaces between furcations of the jaws substantially align as the jaws open and close. The distance between the jaws is adjustable, and the jaws can be releasably locked in position. The clamp is placed around a structure and an elongated shaft of the awl is passed through holes in ears of the clamp. The jaws compress the ears. The shaft is bracketed by the furcations of the jaws. The awl is removed, and a fastener inserted through the holes in the ears and secured to the clamp. At least five clamps can be secured together using just one bolt.

  • Patent number: 8167672
Abstract: Buoyant cushions or the like are used and are adaptable for varied other uses, such cushions having physical properties that include buoyancy, weather-resistance, malleability, strength, and comfort to the user, and allows the cushion to be used dually as lounging floatations in bodies of water and as cushions adapted to compliment outdoor furniture or used as furniture. The chamber of each cushion is partially filled with polystyrene beads and the outer surface is defined primarily by a comfortable flexible fabric material to support a user and a flexible mesh fabric material to permit ingress and egress of water to the chamber, such materials being sewn together to form the cushion.

  • Patent number: 8135537
Abstract: A route data base generating system avoids GPS satellite signals sources for land based vehicle azimuth and heading determinations in areas where reception of the satellite signals is unavailable or impaired and relies on vehicle part movements that are equatable to the heading and azimuth changes of the vehicle for determining such vehicle orientations. Part movements equatable to the heading changes are found in the vehicle wheel assemblies. A route data base founded on interconnecting linear route segments that are arranged in and end-to-end serial order is advocated and wherein the angular deviation between connecting segments in the order is predetermined. Various uses of the generating systems and related procedures are advocated for both on-the-road and off-road usage.

  • Patent number: 7971762
Abstract: A belt clamp with a pivotal article carrier attached thereto includes a base and a cover hinged together at the top. The cover includes a passageway at the lower end to accept a barb-like fastener integral with lower end of base to lock clamp closed. A tongue projects inwardly from the cover to contact and inhibit movement of a duty belt inside the clamp. The base includes a pair of intersecting arcuate slots and a reversible insert having one arcuate slot to make the clamp usable by either right- or left-handed users. A movable belt width adjustment bar is mounted inside the clamp to accommodate belts of various widths. Bosses around the lower opening of the cover inhibit twisting of locked clamp to prevent inadvertent opening. A locking plate is provided to inhibit rotation of fasteners used in pivotal mounting of an article carrier to the belt clamp.

  • Patent number: 7841474
Abstract: A material separator system and method for magnetically separating components of feedstock by directing the feedstock onto a thin rotating shell enclosing one or more rotating magnetic rolls capable of riding upon the interior of the shell. In one embodiment, a cam-and-bearing arrangement is used to permit the magnetic roll and shell each to rotate on its own independent axis. This provides the ability to adjust clearance, the line of contact, and the degree of contact between the magnetic roll and the shell. In another embodiment, a different arrangement provides the same capabilities. The system can be configured to drive a magnetic roll, which then drives the shell, or it can be configured to drive the shell, which then drives the magnetic roll. The system can also be configured as a retreater for retreating feedstock.

  • Patent number: 7696889
Abstract: A fluid leak detection system includes a reservoir, a predetermined quantity of a disinfecting liquid contained within such a reservoir, and at least a pair of elongated conduits. A mechanism for automatically opening the distal end of the at least one conduit includes a leaking fluid absorbent member disposed along the distal end of each of the conduits. The fluid-dissolvable member is dissolved by the leaking fluid and absorbed by the member to permit the conduit to be unfolded and allow the disinfecting liquid to flow outwardly from the distal end of the at least one conduit. The system further includes a support frame attached to a support surface, an interface, a communications device electrically coupled to a switch, a monitoring station, and a communications link connecting the communications device to the monitoring station.

  • Patent number: 7694860
Abstract: Handgun locking apparatus for securing a handgun in a holster includes a lever member including a body having a forward and rear end portion mounted to the holster and a spring element projecting forwardly and outwardly from the front end portion of the body for contacting an interior surface of a holster for biasing the body against a handgun. A locking flange on the forward end contacts a handgun to positively engage a portion of a handgun to inhibit withdrawal of a holstered handgun. An operating arm extends rearwardly from the rear end portion of the body for moving the body away to move the locking flange away from a handgun. A positioning member is affixed inside a holster for engaging a handgun inserted in a holster to position a portion of a handgun in contact with the locking flange. A tension device is mounted to the inside of the holster for positioning the gun properly with respect to the locking apparatus.
