Abstract: A house is anchored to the ground by extending a plurality of metal rods from anchors buried in a foundation to the upper framework of the house and clamping the house to each rod by a pair of spaced clamps, which includes a washer in each device around the rod jammed at an angle against the rod so as to be immovable in the tensile direction between the spaced clamps. The lower clamp is threaded onto the buried threaded anchor extending through the sole plate. A bolt extends through at least one top plate of an outer wall adjacent at least the outer corners of a building and threads into the upper clamp beneath the top plate.
Abstract: A monitoring and safety system for air-operated parking brakes and foot brakes on a vehicle employs electric contacts to provide alarms when movement of the actuators occurs in a manner indicative of failure or malfunction in the actuators or in the brakes themselves. The system also includes a number of air pressure sensors for monitoring and alarm functions. In addition, parking brake air pressure is monitored for purpose of overriding a movement sensor alarm when air pressure in the actuator indicates that the vehicle is parked.
Abstract: A bicycle cable keeper for attaching bicycle cables to the bicycle frame, the keeper being a small saddle with a groove along its outside arcuate surface and its inside arcuate surface to be clamped to frame tubing by an encircling strap within that outside surface. The inside surface has at least one concave recess to clamp around a cable when the encircling strap is tightened. The keeper may include two such saddles on opposite sides of a tubing and fastened thereto with a single strap encircling both saddles, one of the saddles usually including an enlarged recess on the outside surface to nestingly receive the strap buckle.
Abstract: The system includes distance measuring capability for use in the local and remote control of a camera lens for automatic and programmable control of ZOOM perspective, FOCUS, IRIS and other functions of the camera in conjunction with the programming of an included microcomputer-controlled automatic tracking system.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for tying bundles with straps made of paper pulp fibers. The machine is positioned transverse to a conveyor upon which bundles are moved into position for tying. The machine includes a track for guiding the strap around the bundle, applying an adhesive to the forward end of the strap, clamping the forward end of the strap, tightening the strap around the bundle, pressing the forward end against an overlapped portion of the strap until the adhesive cures, cutting the rear end of the strap, and releasing the bundle to be conveyed to a position for unloading from the conveyor.
Abstract: The system includes improvements to a remote tracking system for motion picture as well as still picture cameras. The system provides for improved motor control for PAN and TILT functions including motor turn-off in the event of stall; the use of optical means to provide position feedback through the use of a light-blocking disk graduated on a "gray scale" which eliminates mechanical contacts; mechanical levers that are motor driven for operation of ON/OFF and ZOOM functions of a motion picture camera or shutter control for a still camera via either the base or remote unit command circuitry. The remote unit is formed as a hand-held wand and also provides audio circuitry. A space diversity RF receiver is used to improve the communication link between the remote unit and the base unit.

Abstract: A film pack holder having a built in scale for use in calibrating the positioning accuracy of an irradiation device to move a radiation source a selected distance along a given path.
Abstract: Holster for a truncheon, the holster being a unitary folded substantially sheet which is folded along a front portion and having meeting edges along a rear portion, and a transverse screw-and-nut combination connecting the two folded portions of the sheet to provide an adjustment to the clamping action of the holster to the truncheon. An optional keeper strap with a quick-opening fastener, and a thumb-engageable tab may be included to maintain the truncheon securely in the holster until the tab is pushed to open the holster. A pivotable belt loop member is attached to the holster and is adjustable to provide convenient positions for supporting the holster and truncheon in any position.
Abstract: A hollow tubular mouthpiece that is clampable between the front teeth of a patient that is to receive a medical instrument through the mouth and into the esophagus. The mouthpiece has two spaced flanges to fit over the outside of the lips on the proximal end of the mouthpiece and behind the front teeth on the distal end of the mouthpiece with the intermediate space to be clamped between the biting front teeth. A central hollow passageway permits the instrument to be inserted. A lower curved tongue plate extends inwardly and downwardly to depress the patients tongue and to guide the forward end of the instrument.
Abstract: A fitting sealing an intersection of a pipe passing through a wall includes an adapter assembly including an elongated threaded sleeve with an enlarged flange at one end, an adapter gasket, an O-ring and its support, and a nut threadedly joined to the sleeve to squeeze the O-ring and gasket against opposite sides of the wall. The adapter assembly fits concentrically around the pipe where it passes through the wall; and two generally hemispherical resilient covers enclose the portions of the adapter assembly on each side of the wall. Hose clamps at each end of each hemispherical cover connects the enlarged end portions to the adapter assembly and the other end portions to the pipe. One of the hemispherical covers has a pressure grease fitting thereon to allow the space between the covers and the adapter assembly to be filled with pressurized water repellent gel.
Abstract: An adapter assembly for an excavating cutterhead comprising the combination of a blade socket with a hemispherical recess, an adapter with a hemispherical-bottomed shaft to fit in the socket, and a mounting ring around the adapter head which can be indexed with respect to each other such that the adapter may be precisely replaced in an operating assembly without need to reorient the entire assembly. This is accomplished by means of mutually indexing each of the adapter and the mounting ring prior to the initial orientation of the assembly.
Abstract: Improved system for controlling the forming and dewatering of a web of paper by submerged drainage in which air does not penetrate the fiber/aqueous dispersion and the formed web. The dewatering is via altering the natural tension of the meniscus of the water to induce enhanced drainage of water from the aqueous dispersion of paper making fibers in the wetter end of the system and from the drier end of the fabric. Also, the improved horizontal system provides substantially equivalent side surfaces to the paper formed in such system.
Abstract: A disk-shaped plastic shield adapted to rest against the palm of the hand of the hair cutter adjacent to a knuckle to prevent scissor cuts when trimming hair, and a finger guard.

The cap is a single sheet which is cut, punched, and folded to form a saddle for each adjoining beam, a plurality of nail guide holes to attach the device firmly to each beam and a pair of slotted holes to guide a toenail for piercing both beams at their plane of juncture.
Abstract: A new cultivar of Syngonium characterized by attractive and variegated foliage having prominent light interveinal areas in vivid contrast and divided by small darker veins. The petiole color is light brown and accents the leaf coloration. The freely suckering habit provides a growth which is compact and full in appearance. The new cultivar has genetic resistance to the bacterial disease caused by Xanthomonas campestris p.v. `diffenbachiae`.
