Abstract: A conventional method for giving reducing properties uses medication or medium and thus, a range in which the method can be utilized is limited, and there is apprehension that the method adversely affects the environment of ecological system. Further, an apparatus for giving reducing properties is large in scale, and there is an adverse possibility that the apparatus adversely affects other electronic equipment. It is an object of the present invention to solve these problems. A plurality of coaxial cables are arranged as radiators 3 in a form of comb teeth-like shape. Each of the coaxial cable has a predetermined length and a dielectric 3c between an internal conductor 3a and an external conductor 3b. The coaxial cables are connected to an oscillator in series for supplying high frequency alternating current.
Abstract: An ultraviolet lamp used for creating ozone. An ultraviolet lamp is enclosed by a container having an inlet at one end and an outlet at the other end. An air flow containing molecular oxygen is created between the container and the ultraviolet lamp. A portion of the wavelength of the ultraviolet lamp is used for generating ozone. Another portion of the wavelength of the ultraviolet lamp is used to kill microorganisms or disinfect a fluid. The ozone generated may be released in the fluid, further purifying and deodorizing the fluid. The present invention combines the germicidal properties of a ultraviolet lamp with the deodorizing properties of ozone in a single device which may be used to purify water or other fluid.

Abstract: A combination emergency light fixture having a housing constructed to have a minimum footprint or overall configuration for housing the required components and still conform to the code requirements for such emergency fixtures. The housing includes an annular body member having a front and rear opening defining a light chamber covered by a removable sign panel and/or a mounting panel. An interior lamp source and a pair of operating batteries are disposed within the light chamber in a manner to minimize the overall footprint of the housing. Disposed between the operating battery source is a triangular shaped component compartment having light reflecting surfaces to reflect the light rays generated by the internal light source outward toward the sign panel to enhance the illumination thereof. The fixture may also include external light sources.
Abstract: A toilet seat cover providing sanitary protection having side flaps and a front expansion fold. A toilet seat cover made of a paper material is oversized to cover a toilet seat. Side hand flaps extend below the toilet seat and permit easy grasping of the toilet seat by a user, especially children, in stabilizing or positioning on the toilet seat. A front expansion fold permits the toilet seat cover to accommodate different sized toilets. Adhesive material may also be placed on the bottom of the toilet seat cover to prevent slipping on a toilet seat. The toilet seat cover may be folded and packaged with a disinfectant wipe, providing a convenient package for carrying and use. The present invention is suitable for use by children and adults.
Abstract: An end of life quenching device for a vapor lamp preventing damage to the lamp and socket structure. Mica is attached to a lead wire of a filament. As an emission material on the filament is consumed and the vapor lamp reaches the end of its life, the resulting increase in voltage causes an arc. The arc may extend down the lead wire. The hydrated OH group in the mica releases hydrogen, which extinguishes the arc within the vapor lamp. Damage is thereby prevented. The mica withstands the high pressing temperatures required in the manufacture of vapor lamps with quartz envelopes and used to generate ultraviolet radiation in germicidal applications.

Abstract: A reversible toe pad used by dancers comprising a pad material and a bonded seamless fabric material. A fabric is bonded to the surface of a padding material on one side so as to form a reversible toe pad. The toe pad may be reversed so that the padding material is placed adjacent the dancer's toes or the fabric material is placed adjacent the dancer's toes, depending upon the dancer's preference. The padding material may be a gel or foam. A molding process utilizing a female mold and a male mold may be used.
Abstract: A cathode shield for a gas discharge lamp having a predetermined size hole proportional to the diameter of a cup and the diameter of the glass envelope of the gas discharge lamp. A conductive cup is placed around an electrode or a filament. The cup is covered with an insulator material having a hole therein. The diameter of the hole in the cover has a proportional relationship to the diameter of the envelope of the lamp and the diameter of the cup. The ratio of the diameter of the envelope and the hole in the cover ranges between 3.5 and 4.5. The ratio of the diameter of the cup and the hole in the cover ranges between 2.0 and 3.0. It has been determined that these ratios improve current loads without changing discharge characteristics. Additionally, lower temperature operation and starting is facilitated with increased service life. The cathode shield is particularly applicable to germicidal lamps used in water treatment due to the cooler starting and operating temperatures required.
Abstract: A fuel conversion chamber receiving liquid and gas fuels and converting the liquid fuels into gas fuels by heating, and extracting hydrogen. Hydrogen is extracted at extreme temperature in an ultrasound field and the fuels are accelerated to hypersonic velocity. The gas fuels are injected into a resonance chamber, which generates ultrasound, in a combustion chamber and efficiently burned. The reaction generates a high temperature plasma. The hot combustion or exhaust gases heat the fuel conversion chamber, an air heat exchanger, and water chamber producing steam. The steam and exhaust gases are used to produce work.

Abstract: A bent fluorescent lamp for backlighting a display providing uniform illumination. A fluorescent lamp is made from a tubular glass envelope having right angles. The right angles provide improved illumination of a plane surface for backlighting a liquid crystal display. The right angles eliminate dark regions in the illuminated surface. An electrode is positioned sufficiently far from a central portion of the lamp so that any dark spaces in the gas discharge of the fluorescent lamp, such as the Faraday dark space associated with a cathode of a lamp are not formed within the central portion. The central portion of the fluorescent lamp has a uniform brightness or intensity for backlighting a liquid crystal display. A method of forming a right-angled bend in a glass tube is also disclosed.
Abstract: A CD-ROM apparatus is provided with an IDE-BUS interface and an ISA-BUS interface and a switching circuit for switching there between. In another embodiment invention is provided to simplify building a personal computer having a CD-ROM apparatus as an external memory and using an IDE-BUS I/F for connecting to the CD-ROM apparatus. Thus a hard disk unit is connected to a master partition of the IDE-BUS I/F of the personal computer, and the CD-ROM apparatus is connected to a slave partition of the IDE-BUS interface.

Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a method for recycling the packaging crates or cartons in which fruits and vegetables are normally shipped, together with any spoiled or rotten fruits, vegetables, meats and the like into reusable compost by first shredding or grinding the packaging material and thereafter combining such shredded packaging material with the organic waste, e.g. rotten fruits and/or vegetables and the like, which are also shredded to form a homogeneous mixture of a predetermined ratio, and conveying the same to a decomposition chamber where the mixture is further treated and aerated with recirculating air to decompose into a reusable compost.
Abstract: An electrode shield for a fluorescent tanning lamp comprising an open cup encircling a filament or electrode increasing the service life of the fluorescent tanning lamp. The cup having an open end acts as a shield reducing the sputtering of impurities onto the glass tube and contaminating the phosphor surface. In one embodiment, the cup is electrically and thermally coupled to an electrode support. The life of the fluorescent tanning lamp is greatly increased despite the use of relatively high currents and large number of on and off cycles.
