  • Patent number: 6652494
Abstract: A syringe having a breech and a slot adjacent an ampule chamber adapted to receive the body and nozzle of a collapsible ampule. A syringe includes a forward ampule chamber having a predetermined longitudinal length for dispensing a relatively low viscosity material. A closed ampule containing a relatively low viscous material is collapsible and is easily positioned and held within the syringe during dispensing. The nozzle slot permits easy insertion of the flexible collapsible ampule and removal once the ampule is collapsed. In one embodiment, a syringe barrel has flexible fingers used in combination with a plunger having a reduced diameter intermediate portion for preventing the plunger from falling out of the barrel. Low viscosity materials in a unit dose collapsible ampule are controllably and conveniently dispensed for use in many different applications. The present invention is particularly suitable for dispensing dental materials.

  • Patent number: 6634051
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a double ended applicator principally for use in the dental profession, for the placement of different materials as may be required. The double ended applicator includes an elongated handle having an applicating end portion formed at the opposed ends thereof which may be either of like or unlike construction, i.e. formed as a brush and/or a flocked applicating end portion. Intermediate the opposed applicating end portion, the elongated handle is provided with a circumscribing groove to define a frangible area by which the user, at his or her option, can cleanly sever the applicator handle to form two separate and distinct applicators. The applicator is also provided with a hinging arrangement adjacent the opposed applicating end portions whereby the applicating end portions may be angularly bent relative to the elongated handle at the option of the user.

  • Patent number: 6626183
Abstract: A system for decorating nails, including fingernails and toenails, using rub-on or pressure sensitive art or decals. A transparent carrier sheet has a rub-on transfer art for positioning over a fingernail. By rubbing on the top surface of the carrier sheet, the rub-on transfer art is transferred to the fingernail. In one embodiment, a release sheet attached to the carrier sheet is used to hold the carrier sheet and attached rub-on transfer art in position over a fingernail, facilitating placement and transfer. In another embodiment, adhesive is used on the carrier sheet to hold the carrier sheet in position over the fingernail. In yet another embodiment, a tube structure is utilized and placed over the finger for holding in position over the fingernail the rub-on transfer art attached to the carrier sheet. The present invention permits fingernails to be decorated without the use of liquid nail polish, adhesives, or wet decals and, therefore, needs no time to dry and can be done quickly, neatly, and easily.

  • Patent number: 6593484
Abstract: A stable compound having a vapor pressure higher by 1 order than that of Ta(NtBu)(NEt2)3 is provided as a starting material for forming a TaN film as a barrier film by the CVD method. There are further provided a process for producing the same and a method of forming a TaN film by using the same. The novel compound, tantalum tertiary amylimido tris(dimethylamide) [Ta(NtAm)(NMe2)3] has a vapor pressure of 1 Torr at 80° C., and its melting point is 36° C. This compound is obtained by allowing 1 mole of TaCl5, 4 moles of LiNMe2 and 1 mole of LiNHtAm to react with one another in an organic solvent in the vicinity of room temperature, then separating byproducts by filtration, distilling the solvent away, and distilling the product in vacuo. This compound can be used as a starting material in CVD to form a cubic TaN film on a SiO2/Si substrate at 550° C. at 0.05 Torr.

  • Patent number: 6546726
Abstract: A power plant for producing electricity utilizing the buoyancy of a liquid. A first and second expandable chamber are each place in a liquid filled shaft are coupled together with a cable so that when one of the expandable chambers is raised, the other one is lowered. The cable is couple to a pulley for turning a generator for producing electricity. An electrode and electrolyte are placed within each expandable chamber for generating heat and steam to expand the expandable chamber when the expandable chamber is at the bottom of the liquid filed shaft. The increased volume of the expandable chamber causes it to rise in the liquid filled shaft at the same time as the other expandable chamber is reduced in volume and caused to be lowered into the other liquid filed shaft. A valve in the expandable chamber releases the steam causing the volume of the expandable chamber to be reduced. The released steam may be used to power a turbine or enter a heat exchanger.
