Abstract: An improved motion vector detecting method is provided that can ensure a wide search area while suppressing detection of erroneous motion vectors at the same time. Specifically, when detecting motion vectors from a first and a second image frame, the method divides the second image frame into blocks, classifies the blocks into a first and a second group such that the mutually adjacent blocks belong to the different groups. The method specifies a motion vector candidate for each of the blocks in the first and second groups, then performs the process of updating the motion vector candidate by studying an average of the motion vector candidates of the adjacent blocks for each of the blocks in the first and second groups. The process is repeated for a certain time.
Abstract: A method of attaining depilation by laser beam more effectively by enabling a laser beam the output of which is repressed to an extent of avoiding exertion of an effect on the peripheral tissue to reach a depth in the approximate range of 5-6 mm from the surface of the skin. The method of depilation attains required depilation by pulling out the skin of a subject and compressing the drawn skin thereby transforming part of the skin into a flap and emitting a laser beam to the region of the skin transformed into the flap.
Abstract: In a pitch shifting method, an input sound signal is stored into a memory, and a period of the input sound signal is extracted. Then, a sawtooth wave is produced whose amplitude is set to a value which is integer times the extracted period. A read address is designated based on the sawtooth wave, and the input sound signal is read from the memory using the designated read address.
Abstract: A method and device for simultaneous compensation of five existing components of deviation from the ideal linear motion of solid unit moving hydro (air) static slides and using five independent flow control valves whose valves connections to the recesses and commutations between recesses are made in such a way that every valve is responsible for compensation only for one component of deviation.
Abstract: A nuclear fuel spacer grid, fabricated by intersecting a plurality of zircaloy or inconel grid strips and used for placing and supporting a plurality of elongated fuel rods within a nuclear fuel assembly, is disclosed. In the spacer grid of this invention, each of the grid strips is not cut away to form separate springs or dimples for supporting the fuel rods, but has an axial slot extending from one end of each strip to a length. The grid strips are intersected at the slots prior to being welded together into a single grid structure at a welding tap formed at an outside end or a middle portion of each of the slots. Each of the grid strips also has a dipper-shaped coolant mixing vane, or a dipper vane, at each of the upper and lower ends thereof. The spacer grid thus maximizes the thermal hydraulic coolant mixing effect within a fuel assembly and stably supports the fuel rods within the assembly while improving the mechanical/structural strength of the assembly, such as a buckling strength.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyurethane compound which has particular utility as a potting compound for fan exit guide vane assemblies of commercial gas turbine engines. The polyurethane compound comprises a formulation of polyurethane prepolymers mixed with an aromatic amine curing agent (hardener) in a volumetric mix ratio in the range of from about 0.9:1 to about 1:1. The polyurethane prepolymer consists of a blend of different polyethers based on diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI). The amine curing agent is a blend of oligomeric diamines with an aromatic diamine with a catalytic component. Both of the blends, in an uncured state, are liquid at room temperature.

Abstract: An arrangement for absorption of the energy of impact for road or rail bound vehicles contains an elongated insert (6)—in the form of a rigid lever or as part of a lever of length r and featuring two end faces (10, 11), the first end face (10) being attached to the long side of a section component (3) and the second face (11) coupled via a collision component (12) to an impact area (9) projecting out from the section component (3) in such a manner that a force of impact acting on the impact area (9), while displacing the collision component (12) in the direction of the force of impact, effects a rotational movement (D) of the insert (6) about a predetermined point of rotation (P) in the section component (3) and local bending of the section component (3) at the point of rotation (P).

Abstract: A process and a device for joining or separating various workpieces, in particular made of plastic or plastic and other materials, by means of curtain-like laser beams. To join workpieces in a particular joining area of the contact surface, a mask, made of a laser-impermeable material, is arranged between the laser source and the workpieces to be joined. The laser beam and the mask are moved relative to each other. To generate high energy density in the joining area, laser beams of at least two diode lasers are brought together, and subsequently, differing laser line lengths are generated by means of a zoom optics arrangement. Via a beam splitter, a first laser beam aligned perpendicularly to the surface of the mask, is joined by at least one secondary laser beam arranged perpendicularly to the first laser beam, and the resulting laser beam is directed onto the mask.
