The valve element is coupled to an actuating piston (124). The compressor includes a linear bearing (132) guiding a piston shaft (122).
Abstract: A method is provided for making a catalyst support, and includes the steps of providing an aqueous suspension of refractory inorganic oxide and refractory inorganic carbide; forming the suspension into droplets; exposing the droplets to a gelling agent whereby the droplets are at least partially solidified so as to provide substantially sphere-shaped portions of refractory inorganic oxide and refractory inorganic carbide; and drying and calcining the sphere-shaped portions so as to provide substantially spherical particles of catalyst support containing refractory inorganic oxide and refractory inorganic carbide. Catalytically active metal phases and hydrogenation processes using the catalyst are also described.

Abstract: An accessory for a fuel burning or processing engine or machine is provided. The accessory comprises a core formed of a material having ferri-magnetic properties. The core is of elongate form and defines a recess adapted to receive a high tension lead. Each panel has interior and exterior surfaces and a perimeter having leading and trailing edges and first and second lateral edges. A number of cooling passageways have inlets on the panel exterior surface and outlets on the panel interior surface. Abstract: A method is provided for engineering a single crystal cast gas turbine engine first component for cooperating with a second component. An at least local first operational stress on the first component is determined. The first operational stress has a first direction. A crystal orientation within the component or a physical configuration of the component is selected so that the first operational stress produces a desired engagement of the first component with the second component associated with either a negative Poisson's effect or high Poisson's effect in a second direction. Single crystal or highly textured iron- and nickel-base alloys enable one to use such effect in high temperature and/or corrosive environments.

Abstract: To provide a portable chord producing device capable of producing chord sounds by a simple operation. In or on a housing 10 of a portable size, an operation switch 121 with which eight different chord sounds can be designated, and a display screen 11 which also serves as a touch sensor panel are formed. A memory card 20 has a chord data file recorded thereon that is used for letting chord sounds that have characteristics of sounds on a real musical instruments be produced. The chord producing device produces the chord sounds designated by the operation switch 121 through a sound production mechanism in a manner that is associated with a specific touch operation only during the time when it is selected.

Abstract: In one aspect a method for remotely managing a non-compliant Internet Gateway Device (IGD) residing in a Local Area Network (LAN) is provided. The method includes providing a proxy agent that resides on a computer in the LAN. The proxy agent receives from a Wide Area Network (WAN) configuration device a Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) WAN Management Protocol (CWMP) request message, converts the request message to a protocol that is used by the IGD and communicates the converted request message upstream toward the IGD. The proxy agent receives a response from the IGD, converts the response from a first protocol to the CWMP, and sends the converted response upstream toward the WAN configuration device.
