Abstract: The method processes measured vertical profiles of the power of the echoes returned following a transmission of radar signals, each measured vertical profile being a function of the sweep angle of the radar beam and associated with a given pointing angle/distance box pair of the radar beam. The method generates a synthetic vertical profile of the power of the echoes returned by the ground only, and includes, for each measured vertical profile: superposition of the synthetic vertical profile on the measured vertical profile in question, for various values of the sweep angle, calculation of the error that exists between the measured vertical profile and the synthetic vertical profile, for each sweep angle value in question, and an exclusion, from the measured vertical profile, of the values for which the calculated error is less than a given threshold, in order to generate a resultant vertical profile with no ground echoes.

Abstract: A credentials record system that creates and maintains all personnel data electronically is disclosed. The system captures personnel background data, such as license information, education and training, work experience, performance data and electronic signature at the time of entry using graphical user interfaces through a network. For example, computers with Internet connections may be used by authorized personnel to access, analyze, update and electronically annotate data even while other users are using the same record. An exemplary system may archive historical data is archived to create and record an audit trail of changes by the users. The system permits instant, sophisticated analysis of background data to identify relationships among the data, including archived data. Moreover, the system includes the capability to access reference databases for consultation regarding verification of data for accuracy on a continuous basis.

Abstract: A detector for calculating a depth of a buried conductor is provided. The detector includes a plurality of antennas for detecting an electromagnetic field radiated by the conductor and one or more signal processors for calculating the depth of the conductor based on the field detected by the antennas. The calculated depth of the conductor is displayed when one or more predetermined criteria are satisfied.
Abstract: Disclosed is a contact bar for use on a capping board of a given length in order to electrically connect a plurality of anodes and cathodes extending in spaced apart, alternate positions in adjacent electrolytic cells all along the capping board. The contact bar extends over the length of the capping board and is of a given average cross-section. This contact bar comprises a central core that is made of an insulating material and extends all over its length. This contact bar also comprises a plurality of contact pieces that are made of an electrically conductive material and are positioned in spaced apart positions all along the core, each of the pieces defining a segment on which only a short number of the anodes and cathodes are connected.
Abstract: A battery testing and charging system that includes at least one battery testing device and at least one battery charging device, wherein the battery testing device is removable from the battery charging device and wherein the battery testing device may communicate with a plurality of battery charging devices. Also, a method of testing and charging a battery that may be implemented using, for example, the above-described battery testing and charging system.
Abstract: A refrigerant recovery unit is provided that can clear oil from an oil inject path in order to prepare the unit to switch over to a different kind of oil. The refrigerant recovery unit includes an oil inject circuit that receives an oil from the oil bottle into the refrigerant system. The refrigerant recovery circuit is coupled in fluid communication with the oil inject circuit. The refrigerant recovery circuit is operable to receive and transfer a fluid drawn through the oil inject circuit. A controller is operatively connected to the refrigerant recovery circuit and to the oil inject circuit so that as the fluid is drawn through the oil inject circuit a quantity of the oil in the oil inject circuit is removed.

Abstract: Techniques for managing resources in a point-to-multipoint (P2MP) network are disclosed. In some examples, a root station is adapted to transmit and receive network packets and leaf stations are adapted to transmit and receive the network packets from the root station. An electrical control system can be adapted to adjust a control error toward a zero value and adjust an output toward a steady state. The electrical control system may include feedback to control the root station based, at least in part, on the output of the electrical control system.
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for providing a mobile communication terminal with network-based location measurement according to locations by using a G-pCell database. The system includes an NPS for storing a neighboring base station database and a G-pCell database; and an SPC for detecting the location of a base station by parsing a base station signal received from the mobile communication terminal when a location measurement request signal is received from the mobile communication terminal, and determining a location of the mobile communication terminal by using a G-pCell pattern matching algorithm when the number of base stations neighboring the mobile communication terminal, detected by parsing the base station signal, is less than the stored number of neighboring base stations corresponding to the location of the base station, discovered using the neighboring base station database.
Abstract: A detector for detecting a buried conductor comprises a plurality of antennas B, T. Each antenna B, T has a winding wound around the antenna, the winding being connected to a current source for providing a predefined current in the winding. When the predefined current is applied to the winding an electromagnetic field is generated at the antenna which induces a test current in the antenna. The test current is compared to calibration data stored in the detector to validate the correct operation of the detector.
Abstract: A dynamic diagnostic plan generator arranges diagnostic test procedures related to a vehicle symptom or operational problem in a sequence based on a probabilistic Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). The diagnostic plan generator also tracks a vehicle state, and provides instructions for test preparation steps and instructions for performing the diagnostic test procedures. The plan generator further generates schematic illustrations of the diagnostic test procedures, and creates a diagnostic data structure containing information related to the diagnostic test procedures. In addition, the diagnostic plan generator sends and receives information regarding actual failure mode occurrences, for example, to and from a central database. Furthermore, the diagnostic plan generator facilitates the creation of failure mode tests by an expert diagnostics author.

Abstract: A reverse failure analyzer determines a group of diagnostic test procedures related to a particular vehicle component from a pool of diagnostic procedures, and then identifies the specific failure modes of each of the diagnostic test procedures. The reverse failure analyzer further associates the specific failure modes with the respective vehicle component associated with each of the diagnostic test procedures, and the symptoms associated with each of the diagnostic test procedures to the correlated vehicle components and failure modes. In addition, the reverse failure analyzer can cross-reference various vehicle components that can be the root cause of a particular symptom or a vehicle operational problem. Furthermore, the reverse failure analyzer can receive observed symptoms regarding a particular test subject vehicle and correlate the observed symptoms to the vehicle components that can cause the symptoms based on the results of reverse failure analyses.
