Abstract: A processor includes an alias unit having high-speed memory storage locations allocated at compile time for variable-sized data objects. The storage locations are accessed through a table of alias entries that consist of a base address in the processor memory to which the alias entry is aliased, the number of bytes in the alias entry, and a base address that points to the first byte of alias buffer memory representing the value of the alias entry. Each alias entry is given a unique name from a small name space that is encoded into relevant machine opcodes. The names are used to reference the data objects. The processor can optionally include a data cache and can be used in either single processor or multi-tasking environments. Reference to a memory location address associated with an alias register entry would be redirected to the intermediate storage.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for dispersing storage of a plurality of related and unrelated data items on a plurality of removable recordable media instances (RMIs). A first storage device is provided for storing a data item on a qualifying related RMI, the qualifying related RMI having one or more related data items stored on it and having sufficient actual storage space remaining for storing the data. A multiplier device is connected to the first storage device for multiplying the actual size of a data item, which is not stored by the first storage device because there is no qualifying related RMI, by a factor greater than one, to produce reserved storage space data which characterizes any other RMI that actually stores the data item.

Abstract: The present invention is an electronic wiring substrate for sensors formed over a subminiature through hole. Because of the small diameter of the through hole, the material that fills the through hole and the through hole itself have an essentially negligible effect on the sensor. Only a small amount of conductive material which fills each through hole is in contact with each associated electrode. Therefore, the purity of the electrode is not significantly altered by the conductive material coupled to the electrode. A relatively large number of sensors can be formed on the surface of the substrate within a relatively small fluid flowcell. Thus, more information can be attained using less blood. The substrate is essentially impervious to aqueous electrolytes and blood over long periods of storage in potentially corrosive environments.
Abstract: A dry transfer decal is formed when a lithographic image is printed onto a transparent UV-dipped base sheet. Additionally, the decal includes opaque layers, a removable adhesive, and a release liner with a backing sheet. The lithographic decal provides an art-quality image, in a large format, which has vivid colors and precise graphic detail. The opaque background layers increase the brightness of the image colors and covers over any underlying logos when affixed to a display surface. The UV absorbing base layer reduces the strength of UV rays reaching the transfer image thus the decal resists fading even after prolonged exposure to sunlight. The base layer also prevents abrasion and scratching which is prone to occur in active environments.
Abstract: A headerless data storage format is implemented in a library environment. The header information, otherwise stored on the data storage media, is consolidated in one or more indices of the library, thus freeing the media from header information. To export an existing storage medium from the library, the storage medium is modified to include the previously missing header information and then ejected from the library; the medium is thus compatible, as a self-sufficient unit, with other libraries or standalone data storage drives. Conversely, to import a new storage medium containing data and interspersed header information, the medium is received into the library, whereupon the header information is removed from the medium and stored in the appropriate index.

Abstract: A joining system for repeatedly but securely joining two members, where one member is temporarily deformed during the joining process in such a way that an effective peripheral contour corresponds to the corresponding effective peripheral contour of the other member with a given tolerance, and after the two members have been positioned, a tight pressure fit of the two effective peripheral contours is established by at least partial elastic recovery of the deformable member. According to this invention, the original peripheral contour of the deformable member has some sections inside the peripheral contour of the other member and has some sections outside that peripheral contour. The deformation of at least one member takes place through the controlled action of radial compressive forces on certain sections of the peripheral contour of the deformable member.

Abstract: A dental tool apparatus for use in the removal of a dental post and other intercanal obstructions comprises a pliers having a first end for mounting a post connector and a second end for applying a force to the connector a substantially elongate post connector defined by a shaft having a proximal for attachment to a lever device, and a distal end having an open bore having a stepped diameter and self taping threads in the bore at the end for engaging and threading onto a dental post.
Abstract: A multiprocessor including a plurality of processing systems is disclosed for discovering consumer purchasing tendencies. Each processing system of the multiprocessor identifies consumer transaction itemsets that are stored in a database that is distributed among the processing systems and which appear in the database a user-defined minimum number of times, referred to as minimum support. Then, the system discovers association rules in the itemsets by comparing the ratio of the number of times each of the large itemsets appears in the database to the number of times particular subsets of the itemset appear in the database. When the ratio exceeds a predetermined minimum confidence value, the system outputs an association rule which is representative of purchasing tendencies of consumers.

Abstract: A laser scanner for measuring the spatial properties of objects in a scene within a range less than a predetermined maximum object distance. A laser diode supplies a laser beam that is intensity-modulated by a reference waveform from a waveform generator. An optical scanning system scans the scene with the intensity-modulated laser beam, and receives reflected intensity-modulated light and supplies it to an optical processing system that includes an aperture that transmits a first percentage of light reflected from the maximum object distance and a second, lesser percentage of light reflected from objects closer than the maximum object distance. A photodetector receives the processed light and converts the energy into an amplitude-modulated range signal. A mixer down-converts the frequency into an IF frequency, and a first circuit converts the range signal to the form of a square wave.
Abstract: The disclosure of the current invention describes a method of handling a message or a document to be released external of a secure computer environment. The message or the document is first directed to a trusted sealing device which displays the message or the document to a human user for visual checking. If the message or document is acceptable to the human user, the method associates the message or the document with a seal produced by the trusted sealing device. The message or the document is then directed along with the associated seal to a gateway which deletes portions of the header and checks the validity of the associated seal. If, as a result of this verification, it is determined that the associated seal is validly associated with the message or the document, the method attaches predetermined header portions to the message or document and communicates the message or the document from the secure computer environment.
