Abstract: A shrink film comprising a polyethylene film, characterized in that said polyethylene is an ethylene copolymer mixture having a molecular weight distribution in the range 10 to 35, a density of 915 to 940 kg/m3, a weight average molecular weight of at least 100000 D and an MFR2.16 (190° C.) of 0.1 to 0.9 kg/m3, which copolymer mixture is produced by a two or more stage copolymerization of ethylene and 2 to 10% mole (relative to ethylene) of a C3-12 alpha-olefin comonomer in a series of reactors including at least one slurry loop reactor and at least one gas phase reactor using a heterogeneous Ziegler-Natta catalyst.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the non-invasive selection of single living cells under gentle conditions from mixtures of cells or cell cultures with respect to a specific production performance. To this end, the concentration of substances produced by the individual cells which become enriched at the cell membrane, such as reporter gene products (GFP) or specifically secreted products, such as antibodies, is determined by fluorescence-microscopic detection methods.

Abstract: Disclosed are motorcycle frame assemblies comprised of carbon fibers. Methods of making the disclosed motorcycle frame assemblies are also disclosed. In one aspect, the frame assembly of the motorcycle comprises a structural member that includes an engine compartment member, which is adapted to receive an engine on a portion of an inner surface of an opening defined within the engine compartment member. In one further aspect, the structural member comprises a carbon fiber material.
Abstract: A fraudulent business transaction application (FBTA) is provided for monitoring application based fraud. When a consumer supplies account access information in order to carry out an Internet business transaction, the FBTA uses an online fraud mitigation engine to detect phishing trusions and identity theft. Methods are also provided for calculating travel velocity and transcation frequency, which are useful for determining a fraudulent transaction.
Abstract: A shoe formed from a shoe blank having first and second surfaces, wherein one end of the shoe blank is twisted with respect to the opposite end and the first surface of each end is connected together in face contacting arrangement so as to provide a shoe with a one-sided continuous surface.
Abstract: In-situ gelation of a pectic substance. Composition, method of preparation, and method of use of a pectin in-situ gelling formulation for the delivery and sustained release of a physiologically active agent to the body of an animal. The pectin can be isolated from Aloe vera.
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of operating an engine and, particularly to a method of determining the pressure of a working gas within a Stirling engine of a domestic combined heat and power unit relative to a pre-defined pressure. The present invention provides a method of determining the pressure of a gas within an engine relative to a pre-defined pressure of the gas, comprising measuring the power factor of electricity generated by the engine, comparing the measured power factor with a power factor determined to correspond to the power factor of electricity generated by the engine when operating at the pre-defined pressure and determining whether the measured power factor is less than the determined power factor. Variations in measured power factors may also be used to indicate faults in the engine.

Abstract: A nonmagnetic semiconductor device which may be utilized as a spin resonant tunnel diode (spin RTD) and spin transistor, in which low applied voltages and/or magnetic fields are used to control the characteristics of spin-polarized current flow. The nonmagnetic semiconductor device exploits the properties of bulk inversion asymmetry (BIA) in (110)-oriented quantum wells. The nonmagnetic semiconductor device may also be used as a nonmagnetic semiconductor spin valve and a magnetic field sensor. The spin transistor and spin valve may be applied to low-power and/or high-density and/or high-speed logic technologies. The magnetic field sensor may be applied to high-speed hard disk read heads. The spin RTD of the present invention would be useful for a plurality of semiconductor spintronic devices for spin injection and/or spin detection.
