  • Patent number: 8093620
Abstract: The present invention provides a lighting head assembly that incorporates a high intensity LED package into an integral assembly including a heat sink and circuit board for further incorporation into other useful lighting devices. The present invention primarily includes a heat sink member that also serves as a mounting die and a reflector cup into which the LED package is mounted. The circuit board is placed behind the reflector cup and includes riser members that extend through holes in the rear wall of the reflector cup to facilitate electrical connections to the leads of the LED. This particular means for assembly allows the reflector cup and circuit board to cooperate to retain the LED package, provide electrical and control connections, provide integral heat sink capacity and includes an integrated reflector cup.

  • Patent number: 8090924
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the allocation of data on physical media by a file system which optimizes power consumption. The present invention improves power efficiency of computing devices using file systems by allocating data in a way that allows devices to power down when they are not in use. This is carried out by using an allocation group method to divide the storage system into groups of one or more disk drives. The allocator fills the first group entirely before moving to the second group. The allocator globally allocates blocks within each group. Groups are typically sized to meet the average I/O bandwidth requirement of the application. The method also dynamically increases the number of active allocation groups based on I/O load. This is done by computing the average number of write requests per time period.

  • Patent number: 8069752
Abstract: The present invention is a quick-release device for engaging an umbilical. The device includes a coupling base and arms. The coupling base has a top surface and a bottom surface. The bottom surface of the coupling base is configured for attachment to a valve known in the prior art which is used within rescue chambers. The first arm is pivotally connected with the top surface of the coupling base. The second arm is pivotally connected with the top surface of the base. Each arm defines anterior portions to engage the umbilical. The first arm and second arm are configured to move relative to one another to engage or disengage the umbilical. In operation, a user moves the first and second arms towards one another to engage the umbilical in fluid connection to the valve. To disengage the umbilical from the fluid connection with the valve, the user releases the spring-biased arms.

  • Patent number: 8063725
Abstract: The improved reed relay package provided a “pseudo” Form C relay that includes two Form A relays with at least one bridge filter element electrically interconnecting the signal outputs thereof to reduce stub capacitance and improve RF performance. As a result, the reed relay package can operate at very high frequencies, such as 18 GHz and higher. Also, vias can be provided through the support substrate to simulate a co-planar waveguide and RF shields profiled with cut-outs to better simulate a 50 ohm impedance environment throughout the path of the signal line.

  • Patent number: 8063785
Abstract: A head gatch alarm system reduces medical risk for aspirational pneumonia when an angle of the head gatch section is outside a predetermined range. The system includes an inclinometer and a pump. The inclinometer is attached to the head gatch section for sensing an angle of the head gatch section. The inclinometer includes an RF receiver and RF transmitter for sending and receiving signals to a pump. An alarm or other means for alerting a medical professional is in communication with the inclinometer or the pump. The pump includes an RF transmitter and RF receiver for two way RF communication between the pump and the inclinometer. In operation, the alarm is triggered and the pump is turned off when the head gatch section is positioned outside a predetermined range.

  • Patent number: 8051999
Abstract: A closure construction of the present invention includes a container with male threading on the neck thereof with a pair of locking notches. The cap includes a pair of split arcuate walls with partial threading thereon, which provides, in cooperation with each other, a threaded connection between the cap and the male threading disposed thereby releasably securing the cap to the container. A pair of protrusions are connected to and emanate inwardly from the inner surface of the outer wall. The pair of protrusions are releasably respectively seated in the pair of locking notches when the cap is threaded past a predetermined point onto the neck of the container. When the cap is squeezed in a direction generally perpendicular to a line running through the protrusions, the protrusions lift out of their respective locking notches to permit the cap to be unthreaded from the container.
