Abstract: A locking cap for dental implants embedded in hard dental tissue, such as tooth stubs or bones. The locking caps are ovoidal in plan view and may be formed of materials, such as non-adherent polymers, that are rigid, but softer than the material of the dental implant.
Abstract: A cable clamp-bracket combination for rigidly connecting to an item to be suspended, especially a HVAC duct suspended from the ceiling of a structure. The combination utilizing, e.g., a commercially available cable clamp rigidly but removably connected to the clamp in a position where openings in the bracket surfaces mate with the cable channels through the clamp and a slot through the bracket mates with a clamp release projection on the clamp. The cable clamp includes a clamp clutch adjacent each cable channel for holding a support cable. The combination resulting in a rigid connection between the clamp and the item (e.g., duct) and a non-slip connection between the supporting cables and the item. The bracket can be formed from a flat plate having preformed openings and connecting elements by bending the plate into the desired form for holding the clamp and being securable to the, e.g., duct.
Abstract: Solar heating systems are provided which utilize an integrated fixture for transferring heat from a solar collector to a lower-temperature loop, e.g. a domestic hot water system or radiant heating system. The fixture provides a heat exchanger for transferring heat from the solar collector to the lower temperature loop. The fixture may also include a casting, in which are formed solar collector supply and return ports, lower temperature supply and return ports, a solar collector pump volute, and a lower temperature pump volute. The systems also include two pumps, and a temperature optimization control that varies the speed of at least one of the pumps depending on the temperature of the liquid in the solar collector.
Abstract: A thin, light-weight, flexible sheet product useful for the manufacture of radiation attenuation garments. The sheet product is a polymeric material and includes a heavy loading of high molecular weight metal particles. The sheet product is formed from a polymer latex dispersion into which a high molecular weight metal particles are dispersed, where the latex retains a sufficiently low viscosity to be pourable and allow casting of the sheet product.
Abstract: A portable cooling or heating system suitable for use on a vehicle such as a car, plane or boat, that does not have its own air conditioning system. The system is intended to be combined with a portable cooler chest and includes an electric fan unit that can be powered from the power supply on a vehicle. The cooling is provided by ice and the like. The system can also be used to heat a confined space by placing a hot material in the chest.
Abstract: This invention provides pharmacologically active compounds having neurological and other bio-active capability. These active compounds comprise the derivatives of guanidino, aminoguanidino, 2-imadazolino, 2-hydrazinoimidazolino or 2-guanidinobenzimidazolino groups.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a resistance type exercise device that uses frictional forces between members to provide resistance for a variety of different exercises. In operation, when a pull cord is withdrawn from the exercise device, a cord wheel converts the translational movement to rotational motion. A brake lever contacting a brake drum fixedly attached to the cord wheel provides a friction resistive force to the rotational motion. A recoil cord causes the recoil cord 900 to stretch and wrap around a bearing lug, placing the recoil cord in tension. The potential energy stored in the tensioned recoil cord is used to rewind the cord wheel and restore the pull cord back to its at rest position.
Abstract: A threaded pipe flange and piping system utilizing the same. The threaded pipe flange includes a base portion having a predetermined shape and at least two openings dimensioned to accept at least two mounting bolts. A shoulder portion extends from, and is integral to, the base portion and includes at least two substantially flat gripping surfaces that allow the flange to be attached using an open end wrench, adjustable wrench or pipe wrench. A threaded opening extends through the base portion and the shoulder portion and is sized to mate with the threaded pipe to which the flange is to be attached. In operation, the pipe flange is attached to the predetermined threaded pipe by aligning the threaded opening with the predetermined threaded pipe, gripping the gripping surfaces of the shoulder portion, and rotating the pipe flange until the flange is tight.
Abstract: A chairside prosthesis includes modular components which may be assembled and adjusted to variable ridge sizes, and held together in position with self-curing hardened resin. Such modular components are secured in the bones of the mouth in a relatively short time, which may be adjusted at a later date, and which are adaptable to variations in size and shape of ridges in the bones for more comfortable use of the dentures secured on such prostheses.
Abstract: A mattress resistant to bursting at the seam binding joining the upper and side tickings when subjected to flame conditions, is disclosed. The binding includes a tape overlying the junction of the fabrics defining the top and side tickings. The tape and ticking components are held together by a stitching thread such as lock stitching penetrating the tape, the ticking junctures and the tape again at an opposite side of the binding. The tape is selected to be thermoplastic, fire retardant and flowable at a temperature substantially lower than the char temperature of the thread which is thermo set. As a result of this combination, a flame directed against the binding will first induce the thermoplastic tape to melt and flow around and into the binding thread protecting the thread from charring and consequently losing its tensile strength for a significant period of time.

Abstract: A cable clamp of the spring biased wedge type incorporates a housing having an elongate slot formed therethrough, the slot being disposed in parallel relation to the direction of movement of the wedge in the housing. A retractor pin extends through the slot and is coupled to the wedge. The wedge may be shifted into cable releasing position by the application of compressive forces exerted between the portions of the pin projecting through the slot and an abutment portion or end of the housing. A simplified method of assembly includes interposing a spring between the wedge and the portion of the housing, shifting the wedge such that a blind bore in the wedge is aligned with the slot, and thereafter connecting a pin to the wedge as by press fitting, portions of the pin projecting outwardly through the slot to thereby capture the wedge and spring.
Abstract: A resistance weld pin for connecting batts of insulation to the interior of ducts is disclosed, the pin having superior aerodynamic properties which minimize turbulence in the duct flow stream and reduce the tendency of increments of the insulation surrounding the pin will become separated from the main body of the bott when introduced into the air stream. The pin assembly comprises a washer and a pin component projecting through the washer. The upper surface of the washer includes an annular depressed trough surrounding the head of the pin. Preferably the head is disposed within a central depression in the washer, the upper surface of the head forming a contact surface for the applying electrode and lying in a plane above an annular platform extending between the trough and the depression.
Abstract: The present invention elated to a dental prosthetics and more particularly to an improved support post having a centrally convergent shank portion for securing a dental prosthesis, such as an artificial crown, to the root of a tooth. The invention further relates to a method and a device for strengthening a tooth and a root from which the nerve has been removed and specifically to a dental post which provides centering for the forming of a bracing filler to internally reinforce the walls of pulpless roots while providing for the support of an artificial prosthesis. The invention further provides for a secondary reinforcing device surrounding the central dental post and also being capable of following the contours of the tooth root. This secondary strengthening and reinforcing element is a flexibly coiled wire of a generally helicoid shape, which also serves as a matrix for the luting of composite filler.
Abstract: A biocompatable nonbiodegradable breast prosthesis comprises a generally conical shell filled with a resilient mass comprised of a multiplicity of layers of resiliently compressible fabric. The shell fabric provides a pore size in the range of from about 2 to 15 microns, 5 microns being preferred.
The filler fabric layers define a void content from 70 to 90% or more and are resilient when subjected to compressive forces in both wet and dry conditions. The layers preferably are a honeycomb weave and are formed of monofilament yarns.
