  • Patent number: 6338593
Abstract: A bow resistant connector for coupling frame components at right angles to each other includes a pair of legs extending from an apex, the legs being disposed at right angles to each other. The lateral side edges of the legs include fingers the outer surfaces of the fingers being formed with barbs for locking the leg to a respective frame member. The fingers are separated from the main body of the legs by slots. A boss is deflected from the body of the leg outwardly to provide a reinforcing rib, the boss being located between and in general alignment with the fingers. A secondary boss or rib member is formed adjacent the lead edge of the leg the secondary boss extending to the opposite side of the leg from the main rib or boss. The secondary boss engages a surface of the frame to provide additional stability to the connection between the connector leg and the frame component.

  • Patent number: 6336456
Abstract: A surgical mask of the type worn about the nose and face and tied about the head or ears. To the inner surface of the mask, a nasal dilator, in the form of two attachment devices, each with a base upon which two layers of pressure sensitive adhesive is applied using one of the adhesive layers. The mask is pinched in towards the sides of the nose and the adjacent portions of the face to attach the mask to the nose and adjacent portions of the face. When the pinch in forces are removed the mask attempts to return to its initial position and outwardly moves the skin and muscles of the sides of the nose and adjacent face portions to expand the nasal passages of the nose. The attachment devices cover muscles which control the lower valve and the inner valve of the nose and are attached with ⅔ of their area on the nose and ⅓ of their area on the face.

  • Patent number: 6319618
Abstract: A stainless steel “fish tape” is disclosed. The tape is characterized by a steel formulation of 10 to 20 percent chromium, up to 18 percent nickel, up to 4 percent molybdenum, not more than 0.9% carbon and no more than 0.8% nitrogen. It is critical that the circumference of the tape relative to the cross sectional area of the tape be of a ratio of at least 1.30 and preferably greater than 1.55. In counter distinction to known prior art fish tapes which attempt to achieve a highly smooth surface, the tape of the instant invention is preferably roughened or abraded to improve the ability to carry for lubricants. The lubricant retaining characteristic functions both to reduce friction on insertion of the tape through a conduit and to leave traces of lubricant on the surface of surfaces which have been impacted against the tape whereby the wire which is then drawn through the conduit, will also be lubricated at the critical points in the conduit most likely to cause frictional contact with the wire.

  • Patent number: 6305693
Abstract: A rotary seal assembly is comprised of a collar adapted to be fixedly mounted on a shaft, the collar including a plurality of through going apertures parallel to the axis of the shaft. Drive fingers are slideably mounted within the bores of the collar, an inner end of the fingers being fixed to a pusher ring shiftable toward and away from the collar. The outer end of the fingers extend through complemental apertures formed in a containment ring into a rotary seal component. Springs are biased between the containment ring and drive collar to urge the fingers axially into aligned bores formed in a rotary seal member.

  • Patent number: 6289939
Abstract: A fabric grounding tape and method of making same is disclosed. In accordance with the method the tape is woven on a needle loom using polyester and stainless steel warp yarns. The yarns are maintained under tension during and after the weaving process and are subjected to a heat setting procedure while still under tension. The resultant tape has the hand or feel of a conventional all polyester tape and a low ohmic resistance, i.e. 10 ohms or less per inch. The tape can sustain a multiplicity of laundering cycles without significant increase of resistivity.

  • Patent number: 6264247
Abstract: A full flow water connector assembly has a connector with prongs of a certain length that are separated by notches. The end of the connector with the prongs is passed through an opening in a diaphragm and the prongs protrude through respective slots in a diffuser/retainer member. The prongs are then bent so as to press the diffuser/retainer member so as to secure the diaphragm and hold the connector assembly together. The diffuser/retainer member has segments between the slots, the segments contacting the notches when the diffuser/retainer member is pressed sufficiently far. The length of the prongs beyond the notches limits the maximum amount of compression that the diffuser/retainer member can exert against the diaphragm material, thereby minimizing the chance of cracking and subsequent failure of the diaphragm material.

  • Patent number: 6167737
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a forming device adapted to impart a precise arcuate curvature to a sheet metal blank. The device includes a forming drum and a compression roller in proximate space relation to the surface of the drum. A characterizing feature of the device resides in a resilient deformable metal sheet having a lead surface fixed to the drum, the metal blank to be formed being captured between the drum surface and the flexible metallic sheet. Both the blank and the sheet are caused by the compression roller to conform to the curvature of the surface of the drum.

  • Patent number: 6162476
Abstract: A novelty confectionery product having a prize includes first and second separable components forming a container including a handle and a stalk, the stalk projecting from the handle. The stalk includes a leg projecting from each component, the legs being encompassed within a solid confectionery portion which precludes separation of the legs and, hence, of the components. One of the two legs includes an end or terminus disposed closer to the surface of the confectionery portion than the other leg. The user need only remove increments of the confection to expose the shorter leg, thereby enabling separation of the legs and opening of the container while the remainder of the confectionery portion remains mounted on the longer leg.

  • Patent number: 6146655
Abstract: A flexible intra-oral bandage and kit thereof including an hydrolyzable powder/water-wettable fiber mixture enclosed in a flexible, water-permeable, non-stick envelope. The envelope is immersed in water or medication so that the liquid is absorbed through the envelope to wet the hydrolyzable powder/water-wettable fiber mixture and form a moldable tacky gel. The envelope is then removed from the gel and the gel is manually molded and placed in a desired location in a patient's oral cavity. The kit can also be used as a drug delivery system to deliver medication to a patient through the oral cavity.

  • Patent number: 6135775
Abstract: The present invention relates to a dental prosthetics and more particularly to an improved support post for securing a dental prosthesis, such as an artificial crown, to the root of a tooth. The invention further relates to a method and a device for strengthening a tooth and root from which the nerve has been removed and specifically to a dental post which provides centering for the forming of a bracing filler to internally reinforce the walls of pulpless roots while providing for the support of an artificial prosthesis. The invention further provides for a secondary reinforcing device surrounding the central dental post and also being capable of following the contours of the tooth root. This secondary strengthening and reinforcing element is a flexibly coiled wire of a generally helicoid shape, which also serves as a matrix for the luting of composite filler.

  • Patent number: 6082837
Abstract: A modular display system of interlocking components, and more particularly, a modular cubic display frame, comprising two sets of four mitered frame members, the two sets defining opposing rectangular end planes, and a set of longitudinal frame members extending perpendicularly between the corners of the two end planes. The end and the longitudinal frame members are interconnected at each corner utilizing a threaded bolt or screw having a lipped head. The lip projecting from the head engages a corresponding groove formed in the outer surfaces of the mitered corners of the end frame members, while the externally-threaded shaft of the screw engages an internally-threaded bore in the end of the longitudinal frame member. All of the frame members have longitudinal channels formed along each side and one corner, for attaching two modular display frames to each other, or for attaching a variety of auxiliary devices to a display frame.
