  • Patent number: 4681212
Abstract: An article carrier is supported upon a pair of endless roller chains for movement along an endless path having horizontal upper and lower runs extending between end sprockets of like radius. Inner and outer support plates are fixedly mounted upon the carrier at the inner and outer sides of the endless path and formed with opposed chain engaging edges including spaced parallel straight edge sections which upon a plurality of rollers to support the carrier and to frictionally couple the carrier to the chains when the carrier is on the upper or lowr run. The carrier is positively coupled to the chains during transit of the curved portions of the path defined by the sprocket by concave recesses at opposite ends of the straight edge section of the inner support plate in which rollers of the chain are seated and held by the tangential engagement of the straight edge of the opposed outer plate with a roller intermediate the seated rollers.

  • Patent number: 4679543
Abstract: A holder for retaining refractory materials with adjustable upper and lower trays, which accommodate and hold securely therebetween the refractory materials. The holder comprises a lower tray having an open bottom mesh, and an upper tray with an open top mesh. The upper tray is telescopically received by the lower tray. Adjustable spacing between the upper and lower tray provides for secure retention of a uniformly distributed layer of radiant refractory material, thus offering a relatively constant dissipation of heat. The adjustable feature is provided by the accommodation of fasteners which extend generally horizontally from the side of the lower tray within vertical slots which are defined within the side walls of the top tray. The holder also provides a convenient means for cleaning the refractory materials after they have become soiled in use.

  • Patent number: 4676003
Abstract: An interchangeable spacer gauge having a body with an upper surface parallel to a lower surface, a side surface, and an opening in the side surface extending through the upper and lower surfaces for use with an elongated member having an outer periphery, and more particularly, the opening enables a spacer gauge of a predetermined height to be interchanged with a second spacer gauge of a different predetermined height by passing the outer periphery of the elongated member through the opening in the side surface thereby encompassing a substantial portion of the outer periphery of the elongated member, the parallel upper and lower surfaces of the body allow a plurality of spacer gauges of different predetermined heights to be stacked by having the upper surface of a lower spacer gauge contacting the lower surface of a second spacer gauge to obtain a predetermined aggregate height.

  • Patent number: 4675480
Abstract: A shock-damped and electronically passive mechanical switch system is precisely responsive to unguided ballistic missile peak reentry drag levels and respective near surface drag levels. The system includes a single cylindrical case containing a first and a second switching piston independently biased by respective springs, and a third switching piston housed in the second piston and controlled by metering fluid. The third (arming) piston begins displacing upon sensing a calibrated low threshold missile reentry drag value and shortly thereafter opens a port which enables the first and second pistons to begin displacing in response to the missile's drag, these two pistons coming to rest upon sensing the missile's peak drag. The second (programming) piston retains its peak drag sensing position to thus program the near surface drag value as the first piston retracts in response to the missile's reducing post peak drag.

  • Patent number: 4671158
Abstract: A resonance eliminator for a drum head. The resonance eliminator includes a body having a first and second pivotally connected sections. A clamp is provided for detachably mounting the first section of the body on the rim of a drum. The resilient pad is attached to the second section of the body and engages the surface of the drum to eliminate resonance of the drum head caused by vibrations from the drum set itself or external sources. The second section is pivotal with respect to the first section to enable normal sounds to be exhibited by the drum head during play of the drum. Counterweight means are provided in one embodiment to insure that the second section of the body remains in a predetermined positional relationship with respect to the first section of the body. The latter embodiment is suitable for use on the bottom drum head.
