  • Patent number: 4867240
Abstract: A method wherein a hole is made in the ground having the depth intended for a diaphragm, the hole being a narrow cylindrical cavity. Into this cavity is successively inserted a drill head including at least one ejection element having its axis aimed in a direction transverse to the axis of the cavity. The head is connected by means of a one-piece flexible tube to elements which supply the substance to be used for reinforcing and waterproofing the ground under pressure to the ejection element. The reinforcing substance is discharged through the ejection element at the same time that the head is drawn toward the surface, the axis of the ejection element being maintained in its oriented position in a controlled manner in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the cavity to form a diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 4864434
Abstract: Servo data, including three types of servo patterns distinguishable by phase, are stored in concentric servo tracks on a magnetic information storage disk. Each servo track includes a plurality of only one type of pattern, with consecutive tracks arranged in a repeating sequence of the three servo pattern types. For phase recognition, the pattern types further are arranged in a repeating sequence of angular sectors, each sector having a plurality of but one type of pattern. The servo patterns in a given storage track thus are always angularly offset from the servo patterns in the next adjacent tracks. This permits the use of servo patterns having a radial dimension greater than the separation between adjacent tracks, increasing servo signal reliability and transducer dynamic range.

  • Patent number: 4862298
Abstract: A shock load detection device mounted on a disk drive housing of a computer disk drive unit to issue a write-fault signal should the disk drive unit have a mechanical shock imposed thereon. The detection device includes three piezo-electric crystals mounted orthogonally between a base and a seismic mass. Any shock load along x, y, and z axes through the piezo-electric crystals produces an electrical charge which is amplified, filtered, and compared for issuing a write-fault signal. The write-fault signal is used to stop the writing of read/write heads on a spindle of a head disk assembly before the shock imposed thereon could otherwise move the read/write heads off track causing a data error.

  • Patent number: 4856683
Abstract: A dispensing system including a tank and a constant displacement pump mounted on the tank for dispensing liquid from the tank. Liquid is withdrawn from the tank via an adapter mounted in the tank bung and having two concentric tubular members, the inner of which receives a tube connected to the pump inlet. A standpipe extends downwardly from the inner tubular member so that liquid is withdrawn from lower portions of the tank. A bypass bore, containing a pressure relief valve, is formed in the pump body between the pump outlet and a recirculation port to return liquid from the pump outlet to the recirculation port when a valve on a delivery line from the pump is closed. The recirculation port is fluidly connected to the outer tubular member of the adapter to return the liquid to the tank.

  • Patent number: 4856129
Abstract: A tiltable bed frame assembly is provided which permits one to adjust the angular disposition of a mattress between a horizontally disposed position and an inclined position, while at the same time permitting one to utilize a conventional mattress, headboard and footboard of a bedroom suit. The tiltable bed frame assembly comprises a main frame and a mattress frame interconnected by a plurality of telescoping members and pivoting support members disposed between the main frame and the mattress frame. The telescoping members are connected by a linkage assembly so that the mattress frame can be pivotally moved between the horizontally disposed position and the inclined position. A locking assembly is supported by the main frame for selectively engaging the linkage assembly and thereby securing the mattress frame in the desired position relative to the main frame.

  • Patent number: 4844408
Abstract: A coupling device comprised of a male unit and a female unit used to connect and disconnect flow conducting members. The barrel of the male unit is inserted into the barrel of the female unit when the device is operatively engaged. When so engaged, the respective output ports of the male and female units are indexed. The male input port and the female output port can then be connected to respective flow conducting members so that fluid flow is facilitated.

  • Patent number: 4841016
Abstract: An additive composition for enhancing curing and color clarity properties of polyester resins. The additive comprises from about 50 to 75 parts by weight of a mercaptan, and from about 50 to about 25 parts by weight of a quaternary ammonium salt. From about 0.5 to about 25 parts by weight of a polymerization initiator can be incorporated into the additive when the polyester resin is utilized as a gel coat. Resinous compositions formulated with the additive consist essentially of from about 50 to about 99.5 parts by weight of a polyester resin, from about 0.5 to about 35 parts by weight of the mercaptan, from about 0.1 to about 15 parts by weight of the quaternary ammonium salt, and a minor effective amount of an oxidizing agent for the polyester resin.
